yeah fair play to voda/kondor, my replacement unit is much better too and they were fairly prompt and easy to deal with. I actually got a response from a human and an an apology, which is rare these days!

So received the replacement unit in quick time , so hats off to voda/kondor for quick turnaround. Plugged 3.5 in and hiss is noticeably less i.e have to place ear hard against speaker to hear interference. So now have chromecast audio powered from usb on speaker back into 3.5 jack ,, works a treat ,,kept ground loop isolator inline as it helps with a tiny interference .all in all for £30 I would say sound is very good. I suppose a cheap way to stream multi room music if you could buy a few with chromecast audio.

​i also tried a ground loop isolator from amazon which reduced the hiss etc down, but just couldn't live with it . so spoke with Voda/kondor and sent back for replacement ,, will let you know how new one performs when I get it ..

not sure WiFi frequency is the issue as only have to put 3.5 jack in the socket with device or without device , I get annoying whistle similar to earth loop fault .. done some reading and will try an earth loop inline isolator see if that works . only slight but very annoying all the same ..thanks anyway

I have the exact same issue as you on one of my units. It was the one that was supposed to be new, but was clearly a return. I guess I found out why it was returned. P*ss poor of Vodafone that is. Bumholes :disappointed:

First one ordered before Christmas had severe interference and distortion on Bluetooth connection (sounded like a fax transmission) and also sounded a bit muffled, it was returned for a refund.

Just ordered again and second unit sounds much clearer with no background noise.

Glad I went back for another go!

Im having a nightmare with mine in that the volume fades from low to the correct volume when using an echo via bluetooth. So I decided to use it on 3.5mm to avoid that, then overnight it goes into standby mode and I can't seem to find if there's a way to stop it from doing that, as my alarms are going off silent in the morning because the speakers off!

Think i'm going to return it or sell it and stick with my Z50. I mean who wants auto standby anyway? If I want my speaker off i'll turn it off!

Not me. Are you using 5ghz wi-fi ? That bypasses the 2.4ghz which most other devices use. Eg cordless phones etc.

also this kit didn't like my headphone output from my TV...high noise. Other speakers (Logitech speakers, and Sony hi-fi) have had no trouble with using that output as an input. The kitsound worked fine using my phone headphone output through aux in though. Odd!

I'm impressed with the kit, but slightly aggrieved that out of the two units sent to me by vodafone, only one was new, the other was a return...some sticky protective plastic missing and some scuffs. What bumholes they are. They are out of stock now so I'll keep the return speaker regardless.
I'm otherwise very happy with the speakers, and I shall take my vengeance on Vodafone through passive aggressive eBay feedback lol

Excellent unit with fuller all round sound compared to the two (now) tinny sounding iPod units I've been using over the last decade.
Tried bluetooth first via my phones PowerAmp player with no problems, then connected the phone to Google Music via wifi and this was forwarded to the Contempo perfectly. I was surprised at this as I thought there'd be some sort of conflict with wifi in to the phone but bluetooth out to the Contempo. (What do I know!)
Next up was testing the USB socket with a 4Gb Sansa MP3 player with perfect playback results.
I then connected my iPod via USB which was the first negative so far as the iPod just saw the USB socket as a charger but connecting the iPod via auxillary instead cured that situation.
I love the enhanced bass boost feature, tested using my old Ska tracks as if they didn't have enough bass already.
I'm really pleased with it especially at such a bargain price.
PS. It got the wife's seal of approval too and that's saying something as she claims I'm a serial hoarder of all types of speakers.

I just got mine, it's bass heavy alright, even with it right down, still £30 can't complain, remember to take the plastic strips off the rubber feet to firm up the bass :stuck_out_tongue:

Got mine today. Worked fine for 10 mins then started crackling and music went offline with a hissing. Luckily the other one works. Will have to send the other back.

Cable between the 3.5 jack on the speaker and the headphone output jack on the TV. Maybe not the perfect solution for hi-fi enthusiasts but it works for me. The speaker packs a decent punch for its size, fits my space far better than a long, thin soundbar, and I really wanted the bluetooth option for playing music.

Bought last month and very pleased. Connected to a TV and massively improves the sound quality of that. But also great for playing toons from my Ipad. There were a few delivery delays but I received regular e-mail updates and it arrived before Christmas. Would buy again.

Is the bass any good?

I have this kit sound and would love it to work but all the issues posted above are true. I now have a crazy setup but it works for me.

Amazon is connected to my little speaker via 3.5 jack. It's also connected to kitsound via Bluetooth. The little speaker is connected to kitsound USB for constant power.

The little speaker does all the Alexa stuff but if I want to play music, I turn on kitsound then tell Alexa to connect to Bluetooth. It's a little messy but the kitsound is great for £30 so I decided to keep it

Bought this last time round. Took over ten days to deliver - wont buy from them again.
Speaker sound itself is great.
A word of warning when using with the Dot. Bluetooth pairs fine with it but i notice a slight delay when Echo is quiet and then answers a question so i always lose the first word or so as if the Bluetooth link needs time to wake up. Also tried using the aux input, but the speaker goes to sleep and needs powering up again - no good if you want the Dot ready to answer a question. In Bluetooth mode it doesn't sleep - odd. I also tried using the USB socket from the speaker to power the Dot but i got horrendous noise coming out. Anyway i have reverted back to Bluetooth and separate power for the Dot and put up with the odd missing word or two.
