And yet your PlayStation 4 is considerably inferior in just about every aspect other than convenience.
I wont reignite the whole console vs PC thing here, but there are very solid grounds for the PC gaming market to be able to support high end hardware like this and its booming.

FLOL, in the space of me posting a post of 30 words 4 Dad's pounce.
Forget anything online. I remember when I had my first I'd be trying to do Destiny Raids, the amount of groups I got kicked from for either:
1. Needing to clean up code browns.
2. Falling asleep on the sofa mid game.
3. Baby screaming my house down.
4. Getting kicked around by my wife because I didn't get to the baby fast enough and it waking her up "on her night off".
5. Needing to go AFK every 20 minutes because it would wake up.
6. Or just raging because I just spent 3 hours of my life and missed the rewards.
I hated that game so much, yet so much fun with a group of friends (who don't have babies).
Lucky for you Witcher 3 has about 1000-2500 actual hours of execution time in order for you to complete it.
Live football games? Forget that too, you can record them though and I found 90 minute games tend to take in the region of 2.5-3.5 hours to watch (this includes skipping all commentary and half time).
You'll find phrases like this become common place:
-Can you just...
-Help me, HELP ME JESUS...
-OH MY FKING GOD, I HAVE **** IN MY EYE
-That needs throwing away... No saving that.
-**** me, what day is it and where is my left shoe?
-For the 14th time, the answer is NO!
-It's YOUR TURN to wake up!!!!

I'll take PS4 and PC, but to be honest even PS4 has seemed kind of meh this generation.
As for the debate over convenience, consoles are now a long way from sticking in the cart and playing the game aka 1993.
You still end up installing it and waiting, download and patching and waiting, online problems, glitches and bugs and cheating are still common. Now Sony and Microsoft are also telling you that your machine is outdated (and devaluing it) after just 3 years and release upgraded products thus fragmenting the market! So much for a 6-7 year generation!
Console's advantages have mostly evaporated, they have slowly been eaten away by a PC platform that has become more accessible so that the usability gap between them has slimmed to near nothing. The days where you had to search for your own driver and game patches and manually install them, fiddle about configuring your connection for servers etc are long gone. Most games even have auto detect settings that work, you can't ask for too much more.
Consoles have gradually taken all the aspects of PC gaming that put people off and incorporated them to various degrees, but without any of the inherent advantages of an open platform like PC!

Heat added for a decent price - plus KFA2 have a UK RMA centre for a little extra piece of mind

Saw this a few days ago but went for the Windforce on Novatech instead, purely because I wasn't sure about this seller on Amazon. Seems to be Polish based, not that's too much of an issue if Amazon is fulfilling, but still thought Novatech with TCB
Yeah that's a good deal too, slightly lower clock speeds on that as you say, but that doesn't really matter with the gpu boost. This one does have LEDs and a backplate though if that matters for some.

These crazy £300+ graphics cards seem ridiculous. A month ago I spent less than that on a PlayStation 4, a 2TB hard disk upgrade, and a few games. Everything "just works" without having to dick about with drivers or game settings. Wish I'd ditched the PC gaming scene sooner to be honest!

PS4 the most unreliable console in gaming history never have i had so many crashes on a games console.
Unfortunately PC gamers have to pay for quality .

Speaking for myself, I love that there's so much to consider with PC's, as it gives you much more flexibility and control. However I've often thought of running a PS4 in the lounge next to my HTPC but I just cant justify the expense after the money I've already put into my current gear.

they are getting cheaper. Slowly but surley. I bought the Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming for £387 a few days back.

Let's face it, there is a place for both PS4's and PC's in a gamer's life. It's just about budget and what kind of games you enjoy. I can't get Elite on my PS4, or Endless Legend, or Homeworld Remastered etc etc. For simple 'pick up and play' action orientated games, you can't beat a PS4.
PC games typically come down in price faster and more often than PS4 which offsets some of the cost, and are 99% of the time PC games backwards compatible when you upgrade your system - so that 10 year old strategy game still works just fine on my Windows 10 machine. I certainly resent buying PS3 games I never played, but don't feel the same way about the 600+ Steam games that sit in my library without having seen much action.

I have a PS4 and a PC. Anything that is cross-platform I play on my PC at 1440p and high framerates on a G-Sync monitor. When I do fire up my PS4 I find the framerates, 1080p resolution and jaggies pretty ugly, to the point at which I feel pretty disappointed. There are exactly four PS4 exclusives that I want to play: Uncharted 3 remaster, Uncharted 4, and perhaps God of War 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn if they review well. After that, the PS4 is going on eBay as I barely touch it. Ironically, my Dual Shock 4 controller is getting worn out from playing on my PC. With a GTX 1070 you don't need to faff with graphics settings as you can just put everything on Max or use Nvidia experience to automatically apply optimised settings with one click if you need to. Consoles have a place, but as an older gamer with disposable income I'm happy to pay for the superior experience that PC brings. I also use my PC to for CEMU and Dolphin to emulate Wii and WiiU games at 1440p; they look glorious. Obviously PC gaming is more of a niche, but a rapidly growing one. Consoles are becoming more and more PC-like (e.g. hardware itself, cost, and mid-cycle upgrades) while the end-user experience on PCs is moving closer to that on consoles. Unfortunately, PC gaming is not cheap and you have to pay more of an upfront cost, but then the games are cheaper and there are no subscriptions to play online.

From my perspective (as a pc gamer). The most significant killer for the console is the mid cycle refresh they've jumped on this gen.
I was massively disappointed when I did get a ps4, only to find it replaced so soon. The old argument of a console being cheaper disappears when you need to buy a new one about as often as a gpu upgrade.
As a not older gamer, I don't have a lot of throwaway money. And for the usefulness on my pc, the 980ti I got for £250 (amazon warehouse), feels like money better spent than either of the consoles I bought.
What you mean is that games (eventually) just work.
The newest consoles have also decided it's a good idea to require day one updates in a lot of cases. And plenty of ps4 games are being released that are not stable to play.

Bah, won't be picking one up until it's about the £200 region like my 970 was. Heck maybe I should just buy a second 970, cheaper and roughly the same effect.

This is a good strategy to manage upgrades; decide on a price threshold that you are will to cross where you get at least 50% performance boost. I did the same. I bought a high-end 970 (GTX 980-level) for £295, and bought a 1070 at £295 at Amazon warehouse, getting £200 back for my 970 on eBay (after fees). I could have waited for prices to drop to further, but then I probably would have got the equivalent amount less back on selling my old card on eBay... With the Pascal cards the high-end cards give the same performance as a manually overclocked "low end card", which actually takes a lot of the thinking out of purchasing.
