As this was interest in a similar bundle recently, this one has:
* new Intel i5 Kaybylake CPU (Guaranteed CPU overclock of 4.90GHz)
* Asus Strix z270F gaming motherboard
* 16GB DDR4 Ram
* closed loop water cooler and thermal paste

Yeah, by about a quid.
AMD has thrown all their eggs in one basket with these new processors and GPU's, they won't be sold at budget prices. The PC enthusiast market will always be ripped off.
My guess is they'll be almost like-for-like in price. The motherboards will probably be more as well....
I see it time and time again here, "wait for xxx to come out! prices will drop!". I remember folk here holding out for the 1070 and 1080 to come out thinking the 980Ti would come down to £280 or so... in reality the 980Ti pretty much stayed the same price  Out of frustration pretty much all the 1070/1080 and 980Ti deals got voted freezing here for weeks on end. I imagine the same will happen to the Ryzen hardware as well.

I wish I could find this kind of deal for the Asus Strix Z270G motherboard! (mATX)
*Looks at site*
There is one, but it's with the i7 7700K CPU clocked to 4.80GHz, and £732.79! :disappointed:
mATX (244mm x 244mm) is a smaller size than a standard motherboard (305 × 244 mm).
The main difference is fewer PCIe slots (max 4 vs max 7).
MiniITX (170mm x 170mm) is smaller again, and generally has only 1 PCIe, and only 2 RAM slots.
Note: Old wikipedia pic shows old motherboards, but sizes still relevant.

Hi.
Found a similar bundle deal in Amazon. Unless it's the same but with the correct description?
High end ryzen sr7 black edition 8core/16 thread 3.6ghz base 4ghz turbo, rumoured to be $499
standard sr7 probably lower clocks rumoured to be $350
sr5, likely to be either 6c/12t or 4c/8t
sr3 likely to be either 4c/8t or 2c/4t
Lower prices than intel, and as for performance the top end sr7 (at 3.4ghz) matched or bettered the i7-6900k
So if you can wait a month or so you have a better choice

Surely if you are willing to spend this much on a gaming PC you can wait for Ryzen? even if you agree with the assumptions of some people here about prices not changing much, why not just wait?

9 Jan 17#27
That's a lie. The 980 Ti price (avg. 3rd party OC prices here) dropped from £500-600 to £350 when the GTX 10 series came out. I'd know as I bought a Ti system in April and buyers remorse kicked in  The price drop didn't last long though as they all sold out which skyrocketed prices back to £500 due to discontinued rare stock.

Admittedly I was wrong about it never dropping (forgot the brief two week period when they did), but people were still voting them deals cold a lot of the time, though. They were annoyed it was at still the same price level as the 1070. Lots were expecting, and holding out for them to come to around ~£270.
My point is I wish people would stop 'holding out' for new things to come out. More often than not it ends in disappointment. Admittedly at this point people may as well wait to see what happens with Ryzen, but I personally just bite the bullet when I get the itch to upgrade!
Post-brexit result I just think PC hardware prices are going to go up and up - seeing the continued price rise of SSD's in 2 months is just depressing. I will be amazed if the Ryzen chips massively compete price-wise with Intel.

It's not March any more. Prices have risen.
And the Motherboard in this bundle is more expensive.
You're paying a ~£50 premium here. But that's because:
1. The bundle is pre-assembled and already overclocked, saving you time and hassle.
2. You're getting to dodge the "silicon lottery" as these chips have been tested and selected for their overclocking ability.
For some, that'll be worth the extra. For others, they'd rather save a few bob. Each to their own, really. What you're getting here isn't bad value.

10 Jan 17#34
The pound has dropped in value by approx 18% since March, so prices have effectively risen by approx 20%.
This means your £377 in march would be approx £452 today.
Add a premium for a higher tier motherboard with new chipset, a watercooler for the CPU, and a guaranteed overclock, and you get very close to £617 in today's money.
See XE.com for chart.

I would normally agree with you over not "holding out" but ryzen is a game changer and for a month's wait it is worth waiting out.
As for the prices of ryzen: the top end sr7 will be a very good buy compared to the i7-6900k, the lower end ones may only be be £25 to £50 cheaper, lets wait and see. Even if you end up buying a 6900k, i'd still say wait for ryzen so that the i7 actually drops in price.. That is not being an amd fanboi but saying something which is common sense.

That's very true, and I hope companies don't use it as a scapegoat to give us brits and even worse deal compared to those in the US.
The GTX 1070 and 980 Ti similar price point is hugely warranted though. I've got a 980 Ti Waterforce and it kicks every single 1070's ass in benchmarks. I haven't seen a single 1070 card that has benched higher numbers than my card, even though they supposedly have newer and more advanced tech.
You're right about people holding out though. Wouldn't have got my card had I not conceded my wallet in April - it was OOS everywhere shortly after - right up until it was discontinued.
In any case, do people really think that supposedly better benchmarked CPUs and GPUs than their Intel rival chips will be that much cheaper?

Except that intel typically process node jumps (ie from 22nm to 17nm) we are currently on 14nm, die shrinks to 10 or 7nm are spose to happen from 2018 ownards. But each node shrink gets more and more expensive. The current core architecture has run its limits and intel is looking at new one from 2019. That is a long answer to your "intel will move to the next level" - in another words; they can't (so easily as they have done in the past).
Is the new amd ryzen not going to be 14nm where as Intel, as you already stated, are on 14nm & looking to move onto 10nm.
That seems to me like Intel are one step ahead especially with the view that the Amd ryzen isn't even released yet

For most people, probably yes. But if you're trying to squeeze every last FPS out, maybe not. Other factors such as which game you're playing, the resolution and the GPU you're using need to be considered.

This is just not true, an OC i7 7600k @ 4.8 Ghz beat's an OC i5 7600k 4.8G hz hands down by over 30 FPS in some benched games. No contest but whether it's worth the extra £ is purely down to your own budget.
