I already had a current account with them. When I signed up I selected that for the Direct Debit, and I think terms of the offer stated they'd pay the £25 into your HSBC current account if you had one (which they did). I can't remember how it worked otherwise, perhaps it's the account you set for your Direct Debit.

Received the £25 in my current account today, just before my credit card payment is due. Thanks again to the OP, was a simple £25.

Did you had to specify your current/savings account for the credit to come in. I applied online today.

Card arrived today, 3 days after applying, thanks again OP. Confirmed, not contactless.

Not true. However, if you apply for a mortgage, major loan etc some take into account how much you could owe if you maxed out the cards. Therefore, you may get offered slightly less for a mortgage as your outgoings would be higher with a maxed out card.

The AA dual credit card is better that this deal in my opinion. £35 cashback and 28 months 0% on purchases! You have to spend £500 in 60 days of account opening for the cashback but I easily spend that over two months anyway . Alternatively you can go through TCB - £40 cashback. Maybe more dodgy as you are not getting the cashback from the credit card issuer themselves, but no minimum spend as far as I can see.
Just applied and got approved with all the perks (lowest rate and 28 months 0%).

It has been refused on multiple Internet transactions for no apparent reason, TFL & Origin in particular and Asda can't fix it! Apart from that it's fine and contactless.

Just checked. The £10 bonus was also removed so really no point staying with them any more.

It did pay £10 each january and it also had 1% cashback but both were removed. I will just double check the january bonus but i recollect this was removed along with the 1% cashback.
Thanks. I will apply for my husband as i have been trying to get rid of his capital one card for over a year now as it used to give cashback but he doesnt get anything from it any more. £25 is better in his pocket than not
I think not using a credit card is a bad habit if the purchase is likely to be over £100, and in particular if it is a holiday being paid for, people would have to be crazy not to use a credit card. That extra protection is a valuable commodity to me.

My credit report shows how much I have "borrowed" even if my cards are at 0.
Borrowed = Credit in their eyes I guess

I've read somewhere unused credit goes against your credit rating - if you don't use it, get rid of it.

Not really an issue, but it does show up as "available credit" when you apply for a loan etc.

What offers are better? Genuinely interested as based on these comments it seems I may be missing something. I know about the £2k on Amex to get £100 back, but are there any others that are worth me looking at?

Me too. Took the Amex one out. Got a lot to spend over the next few months so more cashback rewards the better!

If you're happy with how it would require you to manage your finances, get a long interest free (on purchases) card (offers often for close to 2yrs) and stick your cash in a savings account in the mean time at the best rate you can find (I know, not the best time) and see that savings rate as your equivalent 'cashback' rate.

Yes, put on to the credit card within 60 days, or if you are already an HSBC bank customer, it is paid into there.

I have the Asda one, 1% cashback in Asda and 0.5% on other purchases, but I'm looking for something else as I don't find it very reliable.

How would this affect your credit record? Taking out different cards, using briefly, then leaving dormant wouldn't look good I'm guessing?

Excellent deal and the criticisms make no sense. The beauty of this is the simplicity - £25 for getting a card, making one small spend on it and paying it off then closing the account is easy money. No need to spend loads or wait months.

not really as many as possible IMV - you need to be focused
£25 is OK if you don't intend to put much money through your crtedit cards
if you can put through (say) £3000 in a couple of months, I'd rather get £200 back
