That's fine and I'm genuinely glad to hear it. Sadly however I cannot say I've come close to having such an experience;
Don't get me wrong; I've 'used' Amazon for about 5 - 6 years (only for odd bits and bobs) and just like you I couldn't complain for most of it. However, I used them recently (Amazon, with 'Prime' and using Amazon Logistics) to order a few items which ended up broken and the replacements sent to the wrong address.
All the while they expected me to pay for the replacement they'd sent to the wrong address (I don't know if I mentioned this but it took them over a week to realise they'd sent it to the wrong address - they wouldn't admit it but refunded me once I'd confirmed there was another flat block near my address + the threat of legal action).
Anyway with that said, a good few supervisors promised me they would call me back "within an hour""By the end of the day" etc, only 1 of maybe 6 or 7 'supervisors' actually called me back. Only two days later than he said he would to give me information I already knew prior to talking to him (that it had been delivered apparently by the courier, great detective work Sherlock!).
I was hung up on once too by a supervisor, that wasn't very polite - only took about 45 minutes to get through to her as well and with all this said; right towards the end of their week long'48 hour investigation' I had some condescending jerk from their 'investigation team' imply (or at least, strong hint at that idea) that I had received my items and was merely attempting to 'scam' Amazon (baring in mind the items I hadn't received both came to under £200..).
Anyway - it was only after I said I would be reporting Logistics to the police & Amazon to trading standards did they miraculously 'suddenly' realise it had been delivered to the wrong address and issued me with a full refund..
Not the best experience for me, took them almost a month to waste a lot of my time and effort and offer little help or do anything - I could have been out of pocket by almost £150+ and have a broken phone thanks to Amazon and they really didn't care.
It was a grueling experiance and I really expected better from Amazon and Amazon Logistics while also using 'Prime'.
Not that it matters, but what I think happened is; [i]there's a flat block near my block of flats and on three separate calls did the supervisors ask "Do you live near this building..?"
Clearly threatening to call the police did the trick. I usually act on my threats.
My experience has been much better.

I have bought my Honor 8 and it is sitting on my desk. When I bought my LG G4 it came complete with a screen protector. Almost immediately after opening the package containing the Honor 8, it fell from my desk to the laminated floor. Hopefully no damage!
As a result, I decided not to use it until I had got screen protectors and a protective case. I am still waiting for them to arrive. I have also tried to work out how to transfer my date from my existing phone.
I am in no hurry. I would like to get it up and running.
I have decided not to handle the phone to make it easier to put on the protective screen protectors without finger prints etc.
Generally, I am quite pleased. I have ordered quite a bulky unattractive protective case. The phone is so slim etc. that it is tempting to get a very slim case.
For the back of the phone:
6x Mikvon films screen protector SuperClear for Huawei Honor 8 BACK - transparent - Made in Germany (intentionally smaller than the display due to its
For the front of the phone: My phone is blue, but I have ordered gold.
Artificial Leather Case for Huawei Honor 8 - Flip-Case black - Cover PhoneNatic + protective foils
When you are thinking of the economics of replacing your existing phone, it is easy to forget to budget all the extra equipment you may or may not need.
I do think this is quite a delicate phone. And I know myself, one small scatch and for me it is 'spoilt'.

I suspect that Amazon work in a similar way to ebay. If you have a record of successful transactions, they are more likely to believe you when things go wrong. I often write reviews in Amazon too.
Like every bureaucracy, you have to play by their rules.

I had was interested in a LG G5 before I bought the Honor 8. I found the cheapest one came from a German website. It was significantly cheap. But having had problems with a mobile phone, I wanted to buy from a 'respectable' retailer. Even if your phone is sourced from Germany via Amazon, it is still a good retailer and a 'European' model.

My LG G4 which I bought after featuring on 'Hot Deals' went wrong twice. The second time it was outside the one year manufacturers warranty. However they have still agreed to repair it.
I was pretty fed up, and I started looking up mobile phones over the Christmas period. I particularly liked the LG G5. They had a good deal with Argos. But it was still looking very expensive. Then I saw the Honor 8 deal with Amazon.
Mobile phones do go wrong, so I am pleased to use a good retailer like Amazon. Although I am not familiar with the Honor name, I am familiar with the Huawei name. They make routers for TalkTalk etc. They are a very big company (Chinese).
I did my research and the phone received good reviews. I was particularly looking for a phone with a good camera. But I did not want to pay to much for a 'top' of the range phone.
I could have gone for the Huwei P9 which would have been the safe but expensive choice.
At the moment, I am waiting for my phone to arrive. In the meantime, I have noticed the price has gone up £80 so this is a genuinely good deal. I expect it will come down eventually, but I have decided to replace my phone now. My old LG G4 has just come back from LG and I can give it to my partner. It should be like a refurbished phone: starting in year zero for her.
In the meantime I have been using my old Nexus 4. I was reading a Kindle book on it last night. Not too bad! It still takes phone calls.
Like the LG, I replaced it when it started playing up. But since then it has been fine.
I also have an Amazon Fire phone: Do you remember those?
Also a special bargain at the time, but not a good deal for me. I never used it with the O2 carrier.

Despite it only being 32gb, I decided to go for it, especially as my 6P battery keeps dying and I'm waiting for my replacement from Google (apparently they only have Frost ones available :disappointed: )
First impressions are very positive. It is quite slippery but actually feels very nice in the hand and very thin and lightweight, especially compared to the 6P.
Software is a bit...different from android, but not wholly unpleasant. It isn't really to my taste but I installed nova launcher and is working like a charm.
The battery firewall, as Huawei call it, is a little too aggressive for my liking, especially given the 4gb of ram, but I haven't has a chance to tinker with the battery settings yet so that might improve.
The settings are a little convoluted as Huawei have buried some in submenus, but it's easy enough to get used to.
I prefer my fingerprint sensors on the back and the Honor 8's sensor is fantastic. Even quicker than the 6P's and being able to use out as a button is awesome. Gestures and pressing the button work perfectly.
It will definitely need a case and tempered glass screen protector but so far so good - would definitely recommend of you're looking for a nice little phone with decent spec and low price.
I'm also digging the nifty blue colour - it really does look nice.

Thanks OP.
I was looking for new dual camera phone for some time and since Mate 9 is so expensive this is very good replacement for my Honor 6+ (I know there is more and more dual camera phones coming out in China but I don't like the gamble)
I have used Huawei Clone app to move everything from my old Honor 6+ and it was super easy transition.
Compared to Honor 6+
+ better screen quality, I was worried that LTPS is not going to be as good as IPS but it's actually better in my opinion at least (still getting used to smaller size)
+ much better accelerometer
+ loving fingerprint reader and its features
+ generally much more responsive
+ much better camera, loving laser focus
+ fast charging (can't comment on battery life yet but "screen on" time seems to be using less juice)
+ Android N on it's way
- occasional stuttering
- a bit slippery
- screen size, 5.3-5.4" would be ideal

Only reason I got my money back was because I threatened them with legal action after waiting (and waiting) for them to figure out what had happened - all the while with them happily implying I was attempting to swindle them.
Do you see a difference with our stories? You returned some stuff (either because you ordered the wrong stuff, or it was broken? A common issue maybe with items from Amazon ? ) and got your money back, great.
Me? I ordered some stuff, it turns up broken, takes them another 4 days to send a replacement to the wrong address and they expect me to pay for it until I threaten them with legal action... little different isn't it?
If you still don't understand why I wont actively support Amazon I can attempt to make it a little more simpler but I really don't think I can.
All the best.

No, but it is pretty silly to negatively affect every amazon deal because you once had a bad experience.
Amazon customer service is overall excellent, you cannot fault their return and replacement policy. They deal with millions of people and, I expect, billions of orders - there's going to be a small number of problems.
Just because you had a bad experience, doesn't mean others will. I returned/replaced many items when building my pc, never a single issue. I'm fact they gave me more money off my monitor via customer service.

I think what I was trying to say is that there is no 'correct' position. It's down to how the user uses his or her phone. For me the back is bad as I hold my phone a certain way when I pull it out of my pocket and like the functionality of a home button when my phone is on a desk. You can't really disagree with how I find it!

2 Jan 17#89
When I pull my phone out my thumb is naturally in the location of a front scanner anyway, as I don't 'clutch' or palm a phone like I'm going to take a photo of it - I always hold it as if I'm about to tap a text out. It's just natural for me, where the rear isn't. If anything I find a rear placement more awkward when I'm taking the phone out of my pocket.

I wouldn't trust them GSM also says it has a gyroscope for compass when it actually doesn't. The honor 7 will be better but this has a better camera and larger storage. Also better chances of update. Also the 6x DOESN'T come with android 7 and still has android 6 out of the box with a future update to 7 which is wasted they should release it with 7 out if the box in all fairness. What it is missing compares to 5x is dual slot for 2 sim and a sd 3 slots. Now it shares the same as all the range 2 slots one sim and one hybrid slot. Also loses the feature to assign each finger to a app of your choice. For example right index finger when you unlock would open what's app after assigning left index finger would open up chrome ect this feature is gone.

2 Jan 171#82
This is interesting. I remember when honor 5x was coming out and everyone thought it would be priced like the 4x which was 150 but at launch the 5x was 190. Honor are rising the prices the price for the 7 was 250 when the 8 was coming out I was really interested and then a launch price of 370 and I was like no way. That's a 120 price hike. We will see what happens the x series usually has a slower processor and missing features then main honor flagship series so it will be interesting to see this spec on a handset priced at this level being as same as there flagship.
EDIT just seen it the processor is kirin 655 on the 6x not the 955 which is slower more similar to the snapdragon 600 series midrange while the 950 is more close to the snapdragon 800 series flagship.

2 Jan 172#81
The Honor 6X is due to be launched to the UK market tomorrow and the specs look very similar to that of the Honor 8, but the design is not as premium and more bland with just a metal finish...
Could be worth holding out for?!
It will have the Kirin 655 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB Storage, 5.5 inch screen 1080p screen and dual rear camera.
This will be selling for £225.
(Honor quite often offer a launch promotion, do might be a little cheaper initially.)
There is a 4GB RAM/64GB Storage version, but this is not expected to hit the UK markets.
Below is a link to a review of the phone, but bare in mind this is the Chinese version he is testing. https://youtu.be/SLHsxMiXYyY
I really like these Honor Phones, but have noticed the prices are gradually going up everytime they replace the previous version of a phone.
Also bare in mind when both these phones are getting updated to the EMUI v5 (Android 7 Nougat) and there will be an option of an Apps drawer, which is missing at the moment, and many people main gripe!

2 Jan 17#80
I perfer it on the back to be honest as it gets it out the pocket and it's unlock and it up to use. I usually pull out of my pocket more often that use it on a table. But I do get what you are saying like it I have it on my car mount it more difficult to unlock as you need to get your hand round the back on a mount is more tricky. But since iam mobile and pulling phone out and back in the pocket the back is a better position for me. But if I was desked based and phone was constantly on a desk I would want it on the front as well. Each to there own. The honor sensor is better and faster in imo as the s7 you need to press the button first and then unlock which takes even more time they need to fixed that in s8 unlock direct instead of waking from sleep.

I don't think they are taking anyone on the beta at the moment as it's full.
misterleoni
2 Jan 17#78
The one thing I preferred about the S7 over the G5 and P9 is the fingerprint sensor on the front. I'm really not a fan of rear sensors as I think they make it less convenient for my use. My phone is often charging on a desk or on the side while I do things, so to be able to press a button to wake or unlock is handy. Some people swear by rear sensors though, so it obviously is entirely down to the user.

I personally won't say it's slow or clunky in that term as it's seems faster than my s7 and on par with one plus or pixel. It's more obtrusive and not close to stock android. It has its own charm which may not be to everyone's taste. It may grow on you or may not be able to stand it. I fell like that with lg software which iam not too fond of but it works fine. I would give it a go for it if price is a issue as price may go up. You can always use it for a few days and see if it fit you if not send it back to Amazon ( iam not commenting on services of Amazon others have already mention in length about them) but you have time to decide. One plus may be a better fit if stock is what you want but the screen size is larger. Other options could be Motorola phone for a more stock experience also updates are pretty fast and cheap iam looking at moto z play and the g4 plus series. They are not as fast as honor and one plus so they would be better choices if performance is what you want.

I have a few qi charges but I just stopped using them. Couldn't use on bedside as cat kept knocking them and I didn't like the way the phone lit up every time I put it down on the pad while in bed. Did have a few occasions where I hadn't placed it properly and woke up with a phone on 33% or thereabouts too!
I don't think there's much use in qi other than looking cool in my own experience, though I know some people who love it. I suspect uptake if the tech has not been great though as you're seeing less and less of it - I guess it is quite restricting for manufacturers to use if they want a given design 'look' since it is hard to implement with metal. It's fortunate that Samsung used glass on the rear of the S7 as it made it very easy to implement.

Have you checked your apps in question are set up in the right way?
I think Qi is a bit niche, given that manufacturers have slowed down in trying to implement it on the whole. In the case of the S7 it is helpful as it still has the old micro USB standard. This Honor has USB C, which is much easier to plug in 'blind' and is overall a more rugged connector which I'm a big fan of. I wouldn't go back to a micro USB device now, personally, but that is just me.

And I thought I was the last vanguard for LCD IPS screen. Iam not a fan of AMOLED I find they look Yellow to me and super over satutuated. The white on ips looks better and blacks on AMOLED look better. For video I do perfer AMOLED but I do more than watch video on my phone and a ips LCD is a better fit for me overall but it's all personal taste. Same for the software as another member said. I personally like the nagging power saving notifications and killing apps in the back ground it does provide a boost in battrey power. I have never missed a notification I wanted and I use what's app quite a lot. I don't play music a lot rarely and use it mostly to browse watch odd YouTube videos and whatsapp and calls ect. I do hop into a lot of apps like maps, banking apps, email ect and I don't close apps in the background so it does help me quite a lot. I also have a smart watch so notification on lock screen don't bother me. But I do understand it may not be to everyone's taste. I have nova that i use on all my devices so the lack of app draw wasn't a issue. What I do like in the beta that I didn't like was the separate sections on the notification and quick toggles that they sorted out also the notifications are more cleaner.

It's nothing to do with the app menu for me - I have experience of using iPhones so actually prefer having folders all on the main screen. The problem for me is that Huawei have messed about too much under the hood, such that apps don't always works as they should because of imposed power management settings, background priority settings and changes to things like the lockscreen that impose restrictions on apps' abilities to take advantage of things like playback controls. Huawei - and other Chinese brands - are notoriously bad for making huge changes to Android's base, and you don't have to look hard on XDA developers to find people complaining about notifications stopping working and other such annoyances. As with anything, your mileage may vary, and this will affect people in different ways depending on their usage pattern. It's not the end of the world either - my P9 was £192, so I can live with any software annoyances, given that it is my second phone. I wouldn't be happy if I'd spent £450 on it at launch though.
There is no definitive right and wrongs in the software space though I guess, I was giving my personal take on the P9, having owned an S7 Edge, a G5, various Sonys and Motorolas and a Oneplus - that for me Huawei's software is a bit of a dog's dinner.

I have a P9 too and I don't enjoy the software at all. The black and white camera is nice though, and the hardware overall is decent. I just wish they'd make the software less overbearing. It reminds me of Windows Vista with all its imposed restrictions that you have to go into settings to override. As with anything though, opinions just vary. You don't have to understand, it's just the nature of life that some people won't enjoy things that you do.

That's fine and I'm genuinely glad to hear it. Sadly however I cannot say I've come close to having such an experience;
Not that it matters, but what I think happened is; there's a flat block near my block of flats and on three separate calls did the supervisors ask "Do you live near this building..?" and at first I was thinking "Why are they asking?" but replied "Yes." everytime, well - I think their courier delivered it to the wrong address and some **** has nicked it... anyway, this is only conjecture - Amazon said they couldn't tell me exactly what had happened and if I wanted to take matters further I'd need to contact the police! Nice.
Anyway that's my tale of woe; I understand for 98% or whatever of the time Amazon come through for their customers but as I said - sadly I fell into the other 2% and for them to just expect me to accept they knew nothing but had my money so everything was okay was mind blowing to me.
This I will always cold any 'deal' that is from Amazon on the premise that they clearly don't give a **** about their customers.

No one has mentioned it but Honor/Huawei software is seriously janky in my opinion. If this doesn't bother you then they are solid devices but you have to do a lot of housekeeping and disabling of settings to stop the software feeling intrusive - e.g. making sure certain apps are 'allowed' to run in the background. As an example, Google Photos doesn't run in the background for me - I have to open it to start the upload process. I've not gotten around to looking into this. I also have found on occasion that I don't get WhatsApp notifications even though this app is set to stay in the background (from the multitask menu). Another annoyance is that only one app can use the lockscreen for controls, so I can't use Spotify AND Pocketcasts - if I'm listening to a podcast and want to pause it I have to pick the phone up, unlock it, swipe down to access the notification area and hit pause there. Not the end of the world but it's begun to annoy me. I am not a fan of Samsung and LG but their software is a LOT more solid than Huawei's - even EMUI with Nougat doesn't fix a lot of the problems I've had with the software.
Genuinely can't fault the hardware though, it's as good as a Samsung in terms of feel-in-hand, fit and finish and Huawei make nice displays, especially if you prefer IPS to AMOLED as I do.

randyg to cookied
1 Jan 171#38
it is 1080p however given the display size 5.2" it's more than clear enough. most apps can only drive at 1080p anyway so unless the app supports 1440p it's pointless. bear in mind a 4k screen will require more power so will drain the battery quicker. 1080p at this size is perfect.

It depends if price is a factor. I just sold my s7 and got the honor 8. I have had phones from LG, htc, Samsung and honor. I have had the honor 6, 7 and now the 8. Personally for design and look this is a better phone. Of course if you want a larger screen the xl and the s7 edge is the one to go for. But pound for pound performance camera, battery for the price you can't go wrong. If you want a larger screen I would say go the 3t in terms of price vs performance and smaller screen i would say go for this. What you will get with the pixel is software updates which Samsung are slow at and probably won't get the new version untill the s8 as they want people to upgrade to the s8. The s8 probably won't be able to buy till end of March beginning of April. I would say.
pixel is the best phone out there by far. all manufacturers get something wrong. Google make their phone ideal, they set the bar for other manufacturers to then go ahead and copy from/compete with.

in real world usage you will see little to no difference between this and the OP3T. Graphics proc on the OP3T is superior but this is a solid contender for the value for your bucks crown handset. Only issue for someone who likes to tinker with their ROMs.. not a lot of choice for Kirin based SOCs which is the only downside. if however you are not one of those people and are happy with the manufacturer based ROMs and updates then I'd seriously consider this handset. what you are getting for the price at £290 is seriously on par with majority of the "flagships" out there. plus it looks amazing..good deal imho

but for those to busy trawling through HUKD to read it all  here the bottom line..
"If you’d like a smaller phone with a better camera and IR blaster, the Honor 8 is likely the best choice for you. However, if you’d rather have a better audio experience, better battery life, and a better software experience, you can’t go wrong with the ZTE Axon 7."

I've got this phone and it does the trick just fine. For similar price point, the oneplus3 performs better, thus the main factor for me I was able to get Honor 8 on contract with three for a great deal.
So the phone itself is strong enough to run everything seamlessly, the dual cam at the back isn't anything to write home about, the one internal speaker gets the music out clear but not very loud even on highest. Honor 8's own interface "MEUI" is a hot mess but with a little fiddle around you'll be able to get launchers on it from play store. Autosmart Wifi works amazing, so as the eye protection on screen.
The bf has S7, pays double the price for it and I really don't see a vast difference on day to day use to justify the price tag.
Since I have the phone, 2 updates were released with the 3rd on the way with android 7.0 in February. The fingerprint sensor at the back is great and has clever additions. The phone itself is beautiful but very slippery so get a case asap, factor it into the price.
Bottom line, it's a great phone for the price with very little compromise.

The only thing to bear in mind with the OnePlus is the camera is not that good and also just an HD screen (not too much hassle for normal use, but if you ever wanted to use it with a VR headset).
Apart from that a great phone and going to hold out with my Galaxy S5 until the OnePlus 5 is released and see what that has to offer.

Doesn't stop people buying any of them though?, so ..... lol.

Clearly threatening to call the police did the trick. I usually act on my threats.
My experience has been much better.
SDTEK Huawei Honor 8 (Gold) Glass Screen Protector - Full Screen
The Case:
Artificial Leather Case for Huawei Honor 8 - Flip-Case black - Cover PhoneNatic + protective foils
When you are thinking of the economics of replacing your existing phone, it is easy to forget to budget all the extra equipment you may or may not need.
I do think this is quite a delicate phone. And I know myself, one small scatch and for me it is 'spoilt'.
Like every bureaucracy, you have to play by their rules.
Searching for a different one now
I was pretty fed up, and I started looking up mobile phones over the Christmas period.
I was looking for new dual camera phone for some time and since Mate 9 is so expensive this is very good replacement for my Honor 6+ (I know there is more and more dual camera phones coming out in China but I don't like the gamble)
I have used Huawei Clone app to move everything from my old Honor 6+ and it was super easy transition.
Compared to Honor 6+
+ better screen quality, I was worried that LTPS is not going to be as good as IPS but it's actually better in my opinion at least (still getting used to smaller size)
+ much better accelerometer
+ loving fingerprint reader and its features
+ generally much more responsive
+ much better camera, loving laser focus
+ fast charging (can't comment on battery life yet but "screen on" time seems to be using less juice)
+ Android N on it's way
- occasional stuttering
- a bit slippery
- screen size, 5.3-5.4" would be ideal
Do you see a difference with our stories? You returned some stuff (either because you ordered the wrong stuff, or it was broken? A common issue maybe with items from Amazon ? ) and got your money back, great.
Me? I ordered some stuff, it turns up broken, takes them another 4 days to send a replacement to the wrong address and they expect me to pay for it until I threaten them with legal action... little different isn't it?
If you still don't understand why I wont actively support Amazon I can attempt to make it a little more simpler but I really don't think I can.
All the best.
https://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/worldwide/en/products-with-gorilla/huawei/honor-8.html
Also isn't it honor 7 still going to be better ?(well have a better processor)
EDIT just seen it the processor is kirin 655 on the 6x not the 955 which is slower more similar to the snapdragon 600 series midrange while the 950 is more close to the snapdragon 800 series flagship.
If it's the latter, I'm buying, but if it's the former I think I'll hold out.

There is no definitive right and wrongs in the software space though I guess, I was giving my personal take on the P9, having owned an S7 Edge, a G5, various Sonys and Motorolas and a Oneplus - that for me Huawei's software is a bit of a dog's dinner.
I find that I quickly got used to it and honestly dont have a problem with it now.

Apart from that a great phone and going to hold out with my Galaxy S5 until the OnePlus 5 is released and see what that has to offer.
thanks. (main plus for me is the price!!!)
It might be better for me to stay with Vodafone on a sim only deal, in the hope they'll give me a good deal on the s8 when it comes out. Was in the process of leaving them and moving to the virgin media rolling contract but they probably won't welcome me back with open arms if I do that!!
I've jut got off the pixel xl band wagon today as it's just too expensive - really liked the look of it but hukd community helped talk me out of it!!
Well Worth 300 bucks
camel hasn't even tracked it at the new price yet
