For people who can't decide if it's worth it. I bought the absolute when there was a deal here from ebay. After a few months of usage I'm very happy with it. Anytime I spot something to clean, I take the v6 and clean. I never did that with the conventional bulky hover where you have to plug. It cleans my carpet better than my old hover because of the Rotary head. It's makes a very big difference. I always use the Rotary head whether it's hard flooring or carpet. And one other thing I like, the v6 has very good filter so even when cleaning the carpet you hardly see dust all around the house. I am writing this because it took me a while before I decide to buy it and want to make your decision easier. I couldn't be happier with v6 absolute

Pondering over this or the v8

Absolute has the 50w motorised head as opposed to the standard 20w which the Animal has. Obviously this will affect battery life, so you've got to consider the options carefully. I went for the V6 Total Clean as an in-between which has the 30w head, again via dyson/eBay (could be 35, can't remember).
The absolute is £249.98 however you get a free tool and they automatically register your dyson. Which saves you having to do this if you purchased elsewhere.
The tool kit is excellent to have I think you really need in hand for edges around room, stairs, blinds also for cleaning car.

I have the older version of the v6 animal. Dc45 or something like that. Looking for an upgrade.

This is a cracking machine. Bought mine new about 6 weeks ago for £259 which seemed a good deal at the time very happy with the machine a bit miffed that I seem to have bought a fraction too early.

Like zippypratt I thought long and hard about Absolute vs Total Clean. Absolute has extra exhaust filter (not interested), more powerful head but a non-rotary hard floor head (Which review says it didn't clean any better than standard head on hard floor). The next generation (V8) all have the fluffy head which comes with total clean; and testing Total Clean I felt it is was powerful enough so went for that via Dyson Outlet - good as new and 1 year guarantee registered as two online (no idea if it will be honoured after a year, but big cost saving) http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dyson-Outlet
