Update, there is now an extra 10% off hotel breaks outside Legoland (see link) and apply to prices on page (you'll see 10% off)

Eg http://i.imgur.com/1VayGyS.png

Hello there, spotted quite a few bargain offers on Legoland from as little as £34pp based on a family of 4 - I would advise getting booked up ASAP as no doubt prices usually double and rooms go quickly.

Few examples (hit the get deal link to check) - Note some are nearer than others so might be worth paying £4ppish extra to save on travel / time - Also check when booking hotel as some don't include breakfast.

some hotels also include kids eat free, welcome packs, xbox rooms, 10% off restaurants etc

Examples

The Basingstoke Hotel £136 / Heathrow Premier Inn £162 / Hilton Bracknell £169 30th March
The Basingstoke Hotel £136 / Holiday Inn Express T5 £159 31st March
The Basingstoke Hotel 28th April £136
Holiday Inn Express T5 28th April £151
The Basingstoke Hotel / T5 Holiday Inn £159 / Heathrow Mecure £165 3rd April
Mercure London Heathrow 4th April £164
Holiday Inn Express T5 / The Basingstoke Hotel £159 12th April
Holiday Inn Express T5 £159 13th April
Heathrow Premier Inn £162 / Holiday Inn Express T5 £164 2nd May

That's just a few but loads on-site, those dates above park is fully open with all rides etc - if you pick a date when park closed you'll get a pop-up and can amend

We live very close to Legoland and for that reason alone we had annual passes for few years. In our last year (2 years ago), it got so bad that we stopped going there at all due to terrible queues for stupid 2 minute rides. So, we didn't use the pass we had, even though we are 15 minutes away literally. Average wait is well over 30 minutes for small rides and 45-60 minutes for more attractive rides now. And, after a few times, everything else around stop being interesting. Even the music they use is the same for the last 5 years. My favourite now is Adventure Island in Southend. It worths driving 1.5 hours there. No queues, no hassle, just nice rides and very fair prices. And, if you need a break from the rides, you are in a nice place by the sea to shop or eat.

A good price, and we have done it several times. But Basingstoke is a fair drive from Legoland and you could be contending with rush hour traffic. The Slough hotels are all very close.

Overpriced, overcrowded, overhyped.
Glad my kids have grown too big for it now.

Done this offer a couple of times, the holiday Inn Express T5 which was fine if a little functional.
I liked the Hilton St Annes Manor more, was kids eat free when i last went, but even without that the kids meals were ridiculously cheap

£34pp to queue for 3 rides for 2 days.... i'm out
eleraza to Sharpharp
4 Jan 17 1 #15
Yes you do queue but if you get there before 9.30am and leave an hour before closure, usually 4pm or 5pm depending on when you go, you can easily do 10 rides and more. I have been a few times with the kids and the day we went on less than 10 rides, we arrived just before 11am by which time it was packed. Oh and we don't get Q-bots.

Which is the nearest hotel(s) to Legoland?
eleraza to vijay1234
4 Jan 17 #16
Holiday Inn and Express Slough are quite near and if you leave early, the journey is about 15 mins. Get caught in traffic though and could take over an hour like it happened to us the first time we ever went there. I just prefer to start early and leave the park early to avoid the traffic jam.

I've been twice to Legoland and was there 2 days before the attack on those poor girls. Legoland is the one where you can see the most money spent out of Chessington and Thorpe, but its is heaving and there was not one member of staff anywhere near that playground. It's very easy to lose sight of children there because of the crowds and layout and i'm a very vigilant mum.
OdhranC to johallington1
4 Jan 17 1 #14
I understand that they run a business but they should restrict the amount of visitors to prevent overcrowding. Being able to keep an eye on your child is highly important to me. I'm sure the children would love going to legoland but from what you said, this would be more of a nightmare than a weekend break to me.

Thanks for you info I really appreciate it!
Sharpharp
4 Jan 17 2 #17
My point still stands, even after 9:30 your whole day is queuing for rides, never again.
LEGOLAND never engage the crowds or use anything to help queuing people pass the time, it's just a cash grab for them.

I hate long queues myself and the one ride we queued 45mins for which should have been 30 mins was the boat at the boating school and I asked myself time and time again what possessed me to. I just merely walk past any ride with a queuing time of over 20mins now.

johallington1
4 Jan 17 #22
We have got there before the park even opens and we've never managed to do 10 rides early on, but then we have always gone in the summer holidays. Legoland will let rides go that can take 6 people with only 2 on, rather than just filling the rides with different families like they do in Chessington. It's also has a problem with wasps in the summer, which when you are trapped in a queue is not fun. Having said this if we rebook I'll go earlier or later in the year, as I don't want to experience it in summer again for the above reasons.

MaddyG
4 Jan 17 #24
Are any of the hotels accessible by public transport (and legoland from the hotel) ?
johallington1
4 Jan 17 1 #25
Drea I've only been in English school holidays, it has a lot there for children but personally you have to drag me there as they just let far too many people in. Plus when you have to constantly explain to your child why some people are being allowed to 'push in'. I don't think they should allow the QBOTS.
Rickardo to johallington1
5 Jan 17 #32
I refuse to use QBots and equivalent at other parks on principle. For example, even with the Kellogg's BOGOF we still paid over £90 entry and then they wanted pretty much the same again for QBots.

Years ago at Universal Florida they used to allow a fast pass system using your normal ticket and they were brilliant with using a quicker single rider queue to fill gaps, although no good for smaller kids.

Travelodge T5 is about 10-15 minutes drive away in the evening and no traffic, fine inside, car park dark and smelly. We stayed in the new Premier Inn at Uxbridge last time, really nice rooms, bit further out but worth it.

What do you do if you have 3 kids and the 3rd will be 1 years old when you go?

Can you all stay in a family room? Or do you have to book two rooms?
eleraza to deflo
4 Jan 17 #30
When my youngest was almost two years old summer of 2014, Holiday Inn express Slough kindly provided a cot for him and we stayed in a room with a double bed and sofa bed for the other two. We did ring them though as the maximum you can book into a room online was 4 people. Now he's 4 years old we are expected to book two rooms. The Grange at Bracknell do have family rooms for 5 people.

Have been once,in the last week of summer 2 years ago, it has potential to be a great day out. Unfortunately queues over an hour for most of ride, qbot system i completely disagree with and on one ride caused more problems for everyone. When it rains not enough to do and becomes more crowded at anything with shelter.

We booked for 2 days and second day it rained and we gave up. Thankfully the children enjoyed themselves but really didn't feel it was worth the money due to the limited amount of rides we could access due to queues.

I honestly can't see how it can be improved as this is the nature of theme parks.

6 Jan 17 2 #39
You've all missed the big one at all the Merlin theme parks now. Build them far enough from a town that public transport really isn't happening, then charge you £5 to park your car there for the day. Merlin have pretty much taken squeezing every penny they can out of customers to extreme levels. They're a horrid company.

Stopped going when entry prices rocketed, even with the 2 for 1 deals, its really expensive for a family to go & visit when you factor in the car parking charges, fuel (many of us are travelling 2+ hours to get to these places in the frst place!) and food / refreshments etc.

Stuck in rush hour for an hour or more with small children isn't much fun - especially if that makes you late into Legoland itself which can mean additional waiting. That's the point, not the number of miles, apologies for not spelling this out clearly enough for you.

We went in September and it was great. I got buy one day get another day free plus kids go free so for one adult and two children I paid just over £100 for two days at legoland and the hotel. We stayed at the Holiday Inn express at T5 which was fine and about 20 minutes drive which was fine. We went Sunday/Monday as my children had an inset day. Sunday was busy but Monday was so quiet, we went on 28 rides in the day, often not even getting off the boat/car etc and just going round and round. We all had a great day so if you can go out of school holidays and weekends then I'd definitely recommend it.
jjamieson1982

I've had annual pass for Legoland in past when lived in Kent. I've thought about getting Merlin passes as we in North East now but last year we had Lightwater Valley passes and it was great in there and we went about 6 times at least on a weekend.

16 Jan 17 1 #69
Many are not aware that the queueing is a very deliberate and unfortunate business practice which many places are designed to include. If each visitor spends, for example, 3 hours queueing and 3 hours being entertained then the "entertainment" required to be provided by the company is effectively halved.

You might have to ring them up - when we booked last year the same happened to us. They had a record of the booking on their end but the payment hadn't gone through, so I just did it over the phone. (One booking went through fine on the website though...!)

Good price but what's with the pricing per person? You mean it's from £122. Or can I book it for 2 people from £61?

I went on a similar package last year. It was super busy. I hated the whole idea of the queue bot queue jumping tickets available for a considerable extra cost.

Basically if you pay up you can pretty much avoid all queues while the poor look on.

Out of all the theme parks I've taken my kids to this is my least favourite.
