Is it just me or are the prices of SSD drives not coming down? Nearly two years ago I bought a 240GB one for this price.

They're starting to go up now mainly due to NAND flash shortages, too much demand and not enough supply from the factories.

I have this exact drive, works well.
You're right cicobuff, I paid like £47 a few months ago, and lots of similar priced SSDs. Now none even come close on price

As i've now said for the last couple of months pcie 3.0 x4 based (u.2 and m.2) nvme based flash thrashes sata 600 every which way possible. The Only way it can't if there isn't a big enough cache on the pcie drive.
Prices aren't coming down for the uk, 1. brexit and 2. gobal nand shortage (that said samsung produces their own nand )

Of course many people won't be able to use those due to lack of physical connection in their laptop/pc. Real world data suggests that people don't notice the difference between SATA III (6GB/s) and NVMe M.2 and the only noticeable difference would be if they could saturate the queue depth of M.2 based devices, which no general consumer will be able to.
My SSD with my operating system has just died on me..been having issues for months and it seems like the main problem. Could this be a good replacement? Simply to run the OS off? my previous one was 120gb ocz 2.5"

I believe it is more than perfect for your needs. I had an ADADA 60GB SSD for like 5 years abd had no problems.
