I've just bought the Acer G277HL 27in IPS for £109 at Argos clearance bargains, is this a good deal? TIA

your thinking of response rate when you say 2ms basically refresh rate is the frequency in HZ or how many time the picture changes a second, the response rate is how far behind real time the image is so 2ms 60Hz means that the image is 2ms behind real time and producing 60 frames per second and 5ms 144Hz would be 5ms behind real time but producing 144 frames per second, essentially response time is your lag and hertz is your smootheness. i hope this helps you out buddy.

Okay here goes, shameless noob question: How does refresh rate relate to refresh freq in hertz? In terms of the 60/144Hz people want?

I feel like a refresh every 2ms is (1 / 2e-3) refreshes per second, I.e. 500 Hz... But that doesn't align with the coveted 60/144...?

Unless that's 500 Hz panel refresh, which is different from what we want which is input rate? Just a guess.

I'm looking for a monitor for work didn't know if I should go for a 23" if go big for 27". mostly for works stuff no gaming maybe some kodi for football streams on Saturdays.

will going to 27" make windows look not as sharp as it would on a smaller screen? ..ideally a IPS over TN.

I'll hold off for at least 2k then.

​My main monitor is 23", (144hz, 3d samsung gaming monitor) a friend sold me a 27" 1080p monitor, 60hz cheap monitor (benq).

I tried the 27" monitor as my main, and just couldn't get along with it. Could've been the cheapness showing its quality. I tried it at 1080p didn't sit well, then tried it at dsr (dynamic super res), 1440p and 4k. It looked slightly better but I just didn't like it. Text was a tad off, sharpness had its faults, and colours were weak.

It got put to one side for a month and then I decided to try it as a 2nd monitor. Use it for my work files and kodi due to It having built in speakers. As I'm not constantly looking at that monitor, I don't notice the issues anymore.

Agreed. The one I linked to has a VESA mount though, and I intend to wall mount two monitors. I bought the one I linked to, and I think it looks fine, but it was always going to be my second screen, and I'm on the lookout for a bargain 1440p 27" for use as my main screen.

Much nicer with the zero frame, seems like they bulked everything else out though, I don't like that base either, fussy I know but I will be starring at it for a few years almost constantly..

Yes I have been reading the comments on monitor deals on here for a while. Would be nice if I could see one in action to see how stretched it looks

I was looking for it to had around 144fps, ips oh and a curved screen but beggars cant be choosy i suppose :smirk:
