It's a Wii Pro Controller so as long as the game is compatible with it, then yes.

You have to plug this into a Wii remote?? Can anybody explain how this works, do you then have a wii remote dangling from the controller?

Yes, you have to. Simply plug it to the bottom of the Wiimote and it works automatically. Well, as long as it compatible with the game.

It is a Pro Controller. The normal Classic Controller doesn't have the additional features.

Does this only work on the wii u? I've been trying to find a real wii classic pro controller for ages, I guess I'll have to go with 3rd party now but was worried about input delay, as much as I'm not a fan of the gc controller would this resolve my query?

These are the same as the classic controller pro, not the Wii u pro controller.
Precisely. Made it quite clear that it's a Wii Pro Controller, not a Wii U Pro Controller. Not sure how some got confused maybe they saw the U where it wasn't.

How long is the cord? Using the Classic Wii Controller on the NES Mini at the moment and wouldn't mind switching it with this if it means I don't have to sit on the floor.

The length cable is usually not very long at all with Wii Pro Controllers. There is the cheap cable extension at Aliexpress, though.

You would have to purchase a Wii to PC port adapter.
