Not sure if Argos ebay is also eligible for Cashback, you need to contact Sony. So there is possible £20 cashback. If yes, then Sony cashback is pretty straight forward go to your bank account.

Excellent price for this lens especially with Sony who've been generally static or raising prices for the last year or so. Lens is a bit slow for its class but it is very compact and it feels well made, sharpness is acceptable on my copy (I also got the black one from that deal you mentioned for £99, thought I was the only one! Just re-read it and see you got it too) though I have an equivalent Samsung NX 50-200mm f4-5.6 which is better wide open but quite a lot bulkier.

OK camera info please. I need a camera that can take good close up pictures please but on a tight budget. suitable for close ups of jewellery.
any info greatly appreciated.

What exactly is "tight budget" to you?

You need something with a macro lens, ideally 1:1.

If you have got a decent mobile phone you could just use that. And if the camera struggles to take close up then you can buy macro lenses that can just clip on.

macro lenses. thanks. that sounds like where I should be looking. I've bought a light tent and have 4 led light units( only just got them...had 2 that came with it but just 50w halogen bulbs that cast a yellow dim light). if I use my smart phone I get decent results and haven't tried it with the 4 led units, but if I use a compact camera then its poor. just can't get close enough. my budget is around £100- £120 Max.

macro lens is all well and good... but you need a camera to attach it to
if phone is decent with the tent and poor bulbs it should be better again with good ones
if you aren't using a tripod then that would probably help as well

Does your compact camera not have a macro mode? If it has a button that looks like a small flower, that should be it.
That way you'll be able to get closer.

Good price for a medicore lens. Trouble with the sony system is there arent many affordable zoom lenses around.
