Low cost, fixed price motoring. A good deal for a second car that's just used for commuting or nipping around.

Let me put it this way - lighweight 12-14yr old age group boxing champion meets Muhammad Ali. Both are good in their class, but one of them will have their face destroyed with one punch, and it ain't the big guy.
Afraid 5 star rating is not like bigger cars, it can only be used to compare cars of similar size (same category). In a multicar accident this will be more likely a death trap (50% more likely to die in a multi-car collision in a small or micro car)!!!! So no if a large car performed like this in a multi car crash it would be lucky to get 2 stars!!!
Unfortunately because of weight, cost and economical concessions you cannot build in the crash protection afforded to bigger vehicles. Not forgetting laws of momentum that if you hit a bigger, larger, stronger object you will become the crumple zone and have more energy transferred to your mushy bone sack so also greater chance of greater injury.

We have the 4 seat version as our 2nd car. I've driven it to work on the motorway quite frequently without a single scary moment. It has crosswind assist help you being blown across the motorway. It's not going to be like a SUV of course, but generally it's fine. As for crash safety, 5 stars so as safe as many so called bigger cars.

I would personally use a larger car on the motorway as its will be safer if you have an accident.

But statistically you are very safe on a motorway. Worst case scenario you hit (or are hit) a stationary car at 70mph into the soft bit of the car (boot).
National speed limit single carriageway roads are far more dangerous. Worst case scenario you hit somebody at 60mph who is doing 60mph (120mph impact speed) into the hard part of the cars (engine).
The advantage of driving a small car at higher speed is you have to constraint far more and are more aware of potential risks. Take a look at the cars next time you see some crashes. They generally are bigger cars that people drive and don't pay attention.

Ideal for parking in town though - and the ones taking the mick out of it probably go by bus or use a huge 4x4 to drop one kid off at school OP.

Have to second this - one of the benefits of my little Abarth 500 is that I can park in tiny gaps, and those narrow spaces in multi-stories next to the bollards, where most cars wouldn't fit!

No my son walks to school as do I where I can, otherwise I drive a midsized Diesel to work and what is a bus other than a mobile roadblock?
