It's sad but I have to threaten to leave every year with Virgin and Sky. Last year I went for the complete package with Virgin but I just HATE the remote and the tv guide. Plus it's slow as anything right now. Il just negotiate a reduced broadband deals and get Sky TV again.

Great deal - Just remember Sky now loan out the boxes so it isn't yours to keep at the end of the 12 month contract.

It's always be I think technically they have always done this, but I've never had any of the 10 or so boxes returned. I'm sure they will for these as they are so new and no doubt expensive.
It's a real shame as I made huge use of my 2TB hard drive from my old Sky box. I got it free and it made sky free for a year as I had a new hard drive planned for my pc anyway so saved that cost.
Never mind, il be breaking my Tivo box apart soon enough to get another 1tb drive

they also have a sky q department who repeatedly tell you that they own the box so will probably end up being a bad thing instead of a good thing knowing sky anything to screw over the customers

Yes, Sky use it as a positive by saying if there are any faults with the box you don't have to pay for an engineer anymore because you don't own the box yourself, but it will certainly stop those cancelling after 12 months and using it for the free channels.
Still a great deal though for £1.23 per month though

Keeping the box isn't part of the deal anyway, it's just an added benefit if you get to keep it.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something? Can you explain how you're getting the original bundle for £1.23 pm? I understand the cashback but how are you getting the original bundle so cheap?
Thanks.

13 Dec 161#11
Sure!
On topcashback, it shows the £121 cashback if you do the 33% off tv bundles and £25 reward offer.
So it's £13.40 on the sky website. So during the 12monrh contract it costs £160.80.
You take away the £25 gift card sky gives you, and the £121 cashback you get, and it leaves you with a year total of £14.80. ÷12 and it's £1.23 per month average.

We got a call from sky on an 0800 number offering sky q full package for £24. Thought it was a scam so tweeted sky and they confirmed the number. So we have everything for the price.
Wonder if you can ring them on that same number. We haven't had sky for about 3years.

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately, as I've had Sky broadband within the last year (even though it finished a few months ago), I'm still classed as a Sky customer. I couldn't get the deal. I did call up customer services and they couldn't help.
Cracking deal though.

16 Dec 161#21
Everything except email remains the same. My sky contract last year was my name in the normal order. I signed up a new contract with my surname as first and first name as surname. and same email using . dot and the gmail trick. Everything else including address and DOB remained same. That was for landline and broadband. I did same for my OH using her maiden name and my surname for TV last year and this year. In all cases, I got Quidco and topcashback paying out. I have numerous friends who have been doing this since the days of Adam and sky does not do no credit checks. Last time I checked my credit score (this month) , It was better than 95% of UK households according to experia.

I do wonder if Sky will survive 'as is', most people I know are happy with Freeview and the constant price hikes have made it really unattractive. I remember it was almost fashionable to have Sky in the early 2000s but well, not sure it's worth it for near-free contract. Just another ticking time bomb of 'cancel or be stung', stress of cashback, etc.

I agree. Sky has everything that works no complex techi stuff but they do rip people off have non consistent costs for packages and only when you leave or cancel do sky give sensible prices. They pry on those that don't challenge or question monthly fees. I've cancelled every year and year on year had cheaper prices. How does that work.? I view it as a free course on assertiveness customer skills negotiation etc. If you haven't challenged your monthly fees and cancelled in the last couple of years then do so. Sky will miither the living daylights out of you to stay. Stick by your guns. Manage your budget as no one else will.

Many different features: its smaller in size, you get multiple sky boxes in each room. Once the setup is completed and the main box is setup multiple boxes can be bought and connected to your TVs in multiple rooms. You get two boxes in the offer. Also there are two remote controls. One of them can be located by pressing Q button in the middle of the box if lost, which is pretty handy. It has an impressive 2 terabytes storage space. You can watch some online videos as well. The box looks much sleeker and the programmes menu is new and improved.

warning. Without a Sky Q multi screen subscription, you can't use the Sky Q app and so can't benefit from the headline Fluid Viewing feature. Your Sky Q box is effectively a Sky HD++ box.

I'm paying £33 a month at the moment TV only-i think I'm getting the variety package with the old box for the last 2 years. Have handed in my notice and was going to wait 3 weeks before trying to get 75% off using the link. £9.25 a month after Cashback with new box sounds really good! Will they offer me the new Q box if I hang on and wait or should I just sign up to this as a new customer under my wife's name? Advise would be really appreciated.

I play the companies every year, but as a customer wanting a new box I'd strongly advice signing up as a new customer.
However, Next year do the whole "I'm leaving" right to the death of actually cancelling it. You can cancel the cancellation on the last day of notice anyway if they really don't cave; but they always do. Generally you will get 50% off. But like I said, if you want a Q box, they will charge you for it as a current customer, or simply give it free and say that's the reduction offered.

Same day at a guess. Hell even the day before? Best thing to do is contact them after and simply explain you aren't married so you have done it this way. They get it all the time and it's simply a loophole. Yes you get a top top deal, but it means you don't switch to virgin so they are happy.

Is this still live? I'm seeing £32 for the variety bundle when it takes me through to the sky website from top cashback. Trying to get my parents a better deal as they've just been offered the complete package and multiroom for £50 for 10 months but no sky q I think that's not a great offer considering they don't need movies or sport
jonnyh132
25 Dec 162#41
It's not valid anymore. For £55 they can get virgin media with £120 cashback, 200mb broadband and their new v6 box on the full house package. If they still want sky, just cancel, wait a few weeks and they will usually offer them at least 50% off. But the sales team can't usually offer that, it comes via letter most of the time. Worst case scenario you phone them 1 days before final disconnection and just cancel the cancellation.

Thanks fella, I've found via voucher codes the 33% off bundle prices again that seem to work, I know they don't want to ditch sky TV if possible so I'll give them the heads up on cancelling and waiting for the letter.
