I had a pair of these and the soles disappointingly wore down very quickly. I'm not sure I'd recommend them even at £30, sorry OP.

I've also had a pair where the soles have worn down in 6 months with only moderate use.

Not just these ones, I've found this on two of their other designs. Something has changed in their manufacturing and it's not for the better. I'll be finding something else next time round as lasting 6 months is not great.

Why would you expect shoes to last longer than 6 months of daily use? I buy about 2 pairs of Sketchers per year and 6 months is about the standard lifetime. It's only £30 per pair anyway

I have plenty of shoes that have lasted way longer than these is the point. and I didn't say daily use.
