Bright, colourful and beautiful, Samsung’s KU6500 is a marvel of home entertainment. This 4K set’s HDR Pro blends with the brand’s Active Crystal Colour technology to add immense gloss to your content. Top that with the hyper-immersive curved screen and cutting-edge SmartThings home control and you have the complete package. Samsung’s state-of-the-art Smart platform even has Playstation Now, so you can play PS3 games without a console.

They 6400 / 6500 have a different panel. I tested the 6000 against the 6400 at Richer Sounds and the difference is night and day.

Wanted this until i saw the ks9000 55". If that falls in price to around £1200 i will jump in but don't want to miss this is the the other doesn't drop in price over next few days. Opinions on whether the ks9000 will drop?

Not in the next few days.
Most retailers are giving away the UHD BluRay player and that has kept the price higher.

Absolute Bargain, just bought one!
Have been looking at this nearly a year. Was tempted with the 49" version at £549 (Co-op with code).
But worth £100 more just for the JL 5 YEAR guarantee., and this is 55in !

Richer Sounds has same tv in Boxing Day sale for £749, reduced from £849. I was tempted at that price but now even more so at this price. £100 difference for 1 year extra warranty doesn't work for me

The only difference I can see is the 6670 has a magic remote control and costs £150 more.
That's magic for Currys!

25 Dec 16 #23
Great for non HDR gamers because of the low input lag

Beware though

The HDR performance is shockingly bad- the set lowers the actual brightness to fake HDR

Also movie buffs AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

No 24P mode
No 48hz mode
The set plays all films at 60hz
You are going into motion blur and judder city

It's a great panel if you go into with tempered expectations
Daftasabrush to cheekybadger
25 Dec 16 #24
You say "Avoid like the plague, it's no 24p mode" !!!
You tight git, I don't spend £649 on a telly and expect to watch stuff for 24p !
If things are that hard get yourself down to Poundland, lots of dvds and blue rays down there and only a pound!
You experts!
cheekybadger
26 Dec 16 1 #25
Jesus Christ man!

24p blue at playback has nothing to do with resolution

It's 24 frames per second

All cinemas play at 24 frames per second

If you put a 4k blu ray in

You want to have 24 fps to get that true cinema experience

This set (also the 6000) force the screen to refresh at 60hz
Or 60 frames per second

Now 24 doesn't equally divide into 60
So you know what that means ?

All films have a slight judder

Samsung really are knobs to leave such an important feature out
If you are buying this tv to watch a few blu rays in 4k

The screen will look great until something pans and you notice a nasty judder effect
Daftasabrush
26 Dec 16 1 #26
I really don't understand a lot of this, like 95% of normal people who buy televisions!

However, if your right and my life's ruined by this "nasty Judder effect" it's going back to John Lewis

Thank you for your report and I hope you have a nice Boxing Day and a happy Juddering free 2017.
cheekybadger
26 Dec 16 2 #27
I didn't say life ruining- I said it's a deal breaker for film buffs- most people wouldn't even know it has a judder - it's the same reason people wonder why their big screen tv at home doesn't feel as smooth as the cinema

At the beginning of layer cake there is a panning in the drug store scene

If you don't notice it there then you are fine

The judder there is really pronounced

Bought one last night, but got to wait till the 2nd for delivery .
5 year guarantee good, sure Currys would charge you at least £150 for that cover !
Not had a curved tv before, can't wait to receive it, and a much bigger size than my current tv.

Which is why I went for the Hisense 55m7000 - much more bang for your buck.

Most people won't notice/be bothered by motion judder...I certainly do and am!

The Hisense is a fantastic tv, if you're in the market, and I highly recommend it.

£749 now- I think John Lewis realised they messed up the price match. The price match did seem wrong as the cheapest price elsewhere was £749!

I ordered this yesterday (actually posted it as a deal as well, didnt realise this one was already going!) So I'm hoping there's no dreaded 'price glitch, cancellation blah blah' email. If not, delivery on the 30th

G_Dizzle
27 Dec 16 #54
Cheekybadger,
You are quite blatantly talking out of where the sun doesn’t shine.
Motion judder is actually an innate problem due to the movie industry standard of filming at 24fps.
If you watched particular panning shots at your beloved 24fps you would be living in judder city already!
http://www.projectorcentral.com/judder_24p.htm
https://www.cnet.com/news/what-is-1080p24/
All cinemas play at 24fps? Not necessarily! http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=65307 (see David Mullen post)
To solve the judder at 60hz on THIS tv due to 24fps original filming a telecine 3:2 pulldown (mentioned in the first two links) and frame interpolation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation) are most likely used.
As I have never noticed film judder on a modern tv at whatever frequency it played at, and I haven’t been too fussed till now to look up what it’s all about, the telecine and motion interpolation must be working just fine.
I just wanted to call you out for talking pretentious “movie buff” rubbish.
Oh and mentioning a more expensive and flat tv in this thread? Well I think King Joffery said it best…

Ordered one for delivery on Friday. Popped into John Lewis today to have a look at it before delivery, nice looking set btw.

Anyway a friend that works there advised me of a massively reduced ex display, they just marked down. So I've bought that instead. Slightly older model but 65". Samsung UE65JU6000, with the 5 year JL guarantee.... £360!!

Thanks for the post I would never of got this other wise, It doesn't fit in my living room, the wife hates me, but i'm very happy

Also worth popping down to your local JL as mine had about 20 ex display of varying sizes on sale. Might be worth a look.

Came around 4pm  looks great, haven't adjusted the picture at all. Came with a normal remote control and a smart remote. Had to do some assembly including screwing the stand onto the TV so make sure you have a screwdriver around. It has the freeview HD channels which look great, although I know these may only be a novelty to me as I haven't had them before. Also comes pre loaded with a bunch of apps etc. No Nowtv app which is a shame, but the Nowtv box hooked up looks great on it.

Also I don't understand why people say you need a soundbar as it sounds great to me. But as mentioned my last TV was old so maybe I just don't notice these things!

Sammykate
31 Dec 16 #76
Yes came with the smart remote. I think the currys version comes with the magic remote as well so that could be what you're thinking of? Not bothered about the magic remote as I dont have anything else to use with it really! The guy in currys was trying to sell it to us by saying it will control our sound system, our soundbar, our blu ray player, etc- and we were like yeah we have none of those things.
I love the smart remote though, so sleek and easy to use.

Well what does everyone think of the TV now we've had a few days to play with it. I'm really pleased with it although I'm a bit disappointed that only the hdmi 1 slot can only be used to upscale to uhd 4K or am I missing something?
moko7t8
4 Jan 17 #81
I would let you know my impressions except John Lewis told me today when I phoned today to ask why my tv isn't here yet that the 7 days is simply the delivery to the courier for Northern Ireland customers. I now have to wait five working days for the courier to contact me to arrange a delivery date. Absolute joke. I've ordered items from China that arrived sooner

Just found you can change the special viewing mode to HDR + in the picture mode settings within the other hdmi slots once your playing through these sources. I've got my sky HD box into HDMI 1 my blu ray DVD player into HDMI 2 and a HDMI 4K splitter box with 2 outputs into HDMI 3 and got my chromecast, & amazon fire stick in that one. Also if anyone is looking for a Samsung soundbar to connect to this tv I can recommend the Samsung HWK 450 links to the Samsung TV wirelessly through their TV connect system and the sound is great.

I got my HDMI 4K splitter from amazon just type this into the search box and have a look there's quite a few to pick from some with two Or three outputs I got mine for around a tenner. Just gives you those extra HDMI outputs if you need them I also picked up two new 4K HDMI cables for a tenner for my sky hd box and blu ray player as my original HDMI cables were over 4/5 years old - so thought may as well get them to set the new tv up.
