Maybe because people that don't like chicken, prefer to buy meat free. Also I could comment the same on a meat deal post but I won't because there's no reason too! There's ALWAYS one that makes a comment like this on meat free posts...congratulations...you're the first ignorant one!

Every quorn post turns into the world's easiest 'spot the t**t' contest. How hard is it to understand that a considerable proportion of our population don't eat or limit meat for a number of ethical, health and environmental reasons and these products cater to them. If you don't agree with it, just accept that you're not the target market and refrain from polluting every single damn post with your idiotic statements. It got very tiring a long time ago.

Of course they're sentient, their reaction to pain a exactly the same as a human's. People have decided to overbreed animals for the purpose of eating them but they definitely existed before that living out their lives until they died of natural causes. Now they're killed only a few months old.
It's human arrogance to think animals are only their for our purposes, pretty sure they don't want to die and get eaten.
But it's a choice to eat them or not, I won't judge anyone who does, at the end of the day it's personal choice and a cultural thing. Like in some Asian countries they eat cats & dogs
I was brought up vegetarian so it's just my opinion.

Just to offer an alternative opinion, I've used this in various curries and aside from a different texture I couldn't really tell the difference. And besides, poultry is the one meat I don't miss, it's hardly "full of flavour" hence why so many chicken dishes involve some sort of sauce.

I'm very glad this has been posted as I was going to reply to the "mince deal" but then realised it was "mince" not pieces.
Due to all the praise on here and the price I decided to give this a go. I was going to be mixing it with a tasty Indis sauce from Home Bargains that I have had very successfully with vegetables and chicken.
OMG - this stuff ruined the sauce!! I really don't have a refined palate hence using a sauce to mask basic cheap ingredients.
The sauce didn't and couldn't mask the vile taste of this muck. I thought it would be good protein and pretty much tasteless when sauced. It really isn't.
If you are a vegetarian just try vegetables, so much tastier!
Texture, smell, taste are completely vile.
On the plus side it is relatively cheap and high in protein!

I also tried Quorn with an open mind and it was pretty dire. I really don't see the need to make pretend meat based dishes when there are so many natural, vegetable or fungus based meals to eat instead. I've been happy eating soy based meals but Quorn simply hasn't given that experience. For the record, I'm an omnivore, so this supposed meat substitute didn't convince me at all.

We use this occasionally in stir fries. Quick, clean & easy to cook. Season it but dont drown it in sauces
I want Quorn to bring out 'on the bone' KFC style chicken thigh pieces...but it would have to be fried!
