Came across this NAS with 2 x 6TB WD RED Hard Drives installed. Looks a very good price at £324 considering enclosure is around £180-£200 alone.

Temporarily out of stock but still available to order.

Hi, Has anyone noticed the used like new listing from what seems to be a 'con artist' for this product offering?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00P4O2SMU/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

Don't understand how these people are able to list on the marketplace as I've sold some things on there and they were very stringent? Spotting many, many of similar listings - for high value goods - and you seem to have to email the seller before you can buy!?. They're ripping people off from what I'm able to gather.

You have to jump through hoops to report them, I spent 30 minutes trying to get a seller investigated for obvious fraud. There should at least be an option to flag suspicious listings, they must waste hours resolving them after the fact.
Gareth79
3 Dec 16 #35
It happens on eBay too. Basically the seller's account has been hacked, they list as many items as possible to get enquiries before the account is shut. I try and report them whenever I see it.

Amazon's policy is to reward customers who alert them of fraudulent sellers, misprices, etc. with a Thank you voucher. Not many agents are aware of this (or they might pocket it themselves).

I must confess I haven't got a NAS yet and am very tempted by this. I use external HDs at the moment and this would be much better. The only thing that puts me off is one or two of the reviews saying its fairly 'techie' to use.

Is that what people's experience is too or is this being overstated a bit?

Thanks

How do you report them though. Hi, Chatted with Amazon via live-chat on 4-5 occasions over the last 3-4 days to make them aware of high value items being sold by scammers and they do not seem to be that interested - This is quite surprising. The only thing they say is that their Seller Services will be made aware of the issues and that's that. Asked them this-aft' what their policy is and they said they do not have a policy on rewarding customers who let them know of hacked accounts. You'd think they would be interested and grateful. They seem to be neither. Shocking.

MJ10
4 Dec 16 1 #95
Not everyone wants to have their data stored in "the cloud" (no such thing as the cloud, it's just your data on someone else's computer!).
EastLondon
4 Dec 16 1 #96
Many reasons i will give a few.

1. Try streaming a 4k uncompressed video over the internet.

2. Backing up home videos and pictures rather than trust cloud based storage sites.

3. Local backup costs a lot less than cloud storage per TB imo.

Head-to-Head: Synology DS216+ versus QNAP TS-251+ 2-bay NAS
http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Feature/418094,head-to-head-synology-ds216-versus-qnap-ts-251-2-bay-nas.aspx

"So in terms of hardware and performance, the TS-251+ obviously has the advantage. That's not necessarily true - camelcamelcamel doesn't track lightning deals, so it's possible it has been cheaper than reported on camelcamelcamel.

Still waiting.... They havent sent me a cancellation email yet so I still see it on my orders list for £324. I think it will most likely end in a cancellation and they are just burning through the list of people who ordered spamming cancellation emails so hence the delay but it would be a nice christmas present if they did honor the price.

Damn. Missed out in this, saw it earlier, got distracted and it slipped my mind. Mu current NAS I got from a HUKD amazon deal for a qnap Ts-210 a few years back. Everyone said that when ordered wasnt going to come with two 2tb drives when the price alone for those was basically the normal cost for the unit without drives. I ordered then when out of stock and it dispatched a day or two later, drives included

Hi
Just tried the link, and the price is 906.22 , so what is the matter?
gabesdad
5 Dec 16 #161
Didn't order in the end, as cannot see Amazon losing that much money per unit. It's not like a few quid compared to several hundred.

Though I don't need it as I already have a 4 drive QNAP filled with 6TB drives but this could come in handy

Yup, sanguine advice there. Was obviously a misprice, no one who ordered it can claim otherwise.

Why? You know it was clearly a pricing error. What is everybody so entitled nowadays? I ordered, and fully expected it to be cancelled as it was. No skin of my nose, I haven't lost out on anything so why would I expect compensation?

As mentioned previously, I got a WD My Cloud Mirror 2-bay 6tb (2 x 3tb red drives) for £210 through Amazon lightening deals. Do you think ill find a better deal than this? I wss going to return if this deal was honoured but now don't know what to do!
