Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Extension provides 1 m of flexible light. Shape it, attach it to any solid surface and extend it up to 10 m by adding the 1 m extensions to the Lightstrips Plus 2 m kit (requires the 2 m kit for the 1 m extensions to work).
Requires a Philips Hue bridge(not included in this kit) to control with your smart device.

I bought a 5m coloured non brand led strip. I took the original philips 2m off the plug/wiring and soldered the 5m strip to the plug/wiring.
Works a treat with the hue app etc.

The non branded/cheaper LED strips are no where as good quality as these (tried and tested) so either get quality and something that will last, or get the cheap stuff, my advice- don't mix and match, you ll end up ruining both products unless you are an electrical LED wiring expert! (99.99% of us aren't)
Brought cheaper strips--- twice- twice failed and returned-- never again! Buy cheap buy twice!..and then again!

You cannot use this without purchasing the 2m kit first (£64.99), and then you can't control it without the Philips Hue Bridge (£99.99 in a starter kit), is that correct?

correct(ish). you can buy a bridge on its own. but you're right in saying you need the original 2m kit for this to work.

Never had any problems with mine. I only tried it as I messed up with the original LED strip that was on. Rather than throw away everything I gave that a go and 10 or so months on its been going great with all the rest of my HUE setup.
