Philips Hue Colour and White Ambiance Wireless Lighting LED Colour Changing Light Bulb - 9 W B22 Bayonet Cap Light Bulb
Normal price is £49.99 but on an Amazon Lightning deal today for £25.99. This appears to be just B22 bayonet cap, not the E27 Edison screw.

Back in stock but they bumped the price this afternoon. So much for a daily deal. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting it at midnight last night when I spotted this

Out of curiosity, do you not get bored with the colour changing bulbs? I can see the novelty with this item at first but then I can imagine me just using plain old white. Also, do you use these as the main light source in the room or as ambient lighting with a lamp? Thanks

What generally tends to happen is you go mad for the first couple of days and make your house look like a scene from Amsterdam, but then once you start to experiment, you create scenes for different things. For example when I watch TV I have the strip around the TV blue and the table lamps a low warm white (like what you get in a cinema with the surrounding wall lights). Then in the bedroom to wake me up I use a strong "energising" colour instead of a radio. Study has a blue light for concentration and the girls have them pink. There are loads of apps out there as well that can change the scenes dynamically, like passing clouds.
That's before you get into creating scenes and using your watch or Amazon echo or ifttt to control it.
You're not paying £25 for a colour changing lightbulb that others have already mentioned for far less, you are paying for an ecosystem that can be controlled and manipulated with so many other products.

I'm a complete fool when it comes to this Philips hue stuff, could someone tell me everything I would need to have a lightning setup around my desk please? Would be most grateful lol

You need a bridge to start which comes in a starter set then add whatever bulbs you like. The bridge is the controller for the bulbs and light strips etc

The three butb kit with hub is a great deal - going to swap three white lights at home for the colours and then will have a hub+3 white lights to sell. Won't cost me much to upgrade to colour

I guarantee you'll find somewhere else to put the white ones - I've done this so many times lol.

Never thought id see the day when £25.99 is considered cheap for a bulb, albeit a coloured one

Apparently this site has become more of a price comparison site rather than one for highlighting great deals.

I paid around this price for a few white ambience bulbs over a month ago and they still in the box. Need to get on chat and see if Amazon will take them back.

Seems a lot for a light bulb. You can get a colour changing led bulb from home bargains for about 8 quid if you're not bothered about connecting to your smartphone.

Yes - to an extent, to get the full benefit you need a Philips bridge to control them

Just need to point out I think this is the older model not the latest richer colours version. Still a good price.

Yes I think they are the older bulbs, the newer bulbs have been a fiver more, I still think it's a good deal but I would rather spend the extra fiver as some of the colours on this bulb are quite weak..

Was only looking for 2 of the White Ambiance for outdoor porch lights, but may aswell get these now as at least the colour is there when/if I need it. Be good to create a bit of atmosphere at Christmas/Halloween etc. Now my only decision is 2 of these or the starter set for £86.99 and sell the hub, effectively giving me 3 bulbs for around £55!
