the smart functions are very poor but picture quality and u may not think it but that ambilight really does make a difference paired with a few hue lights and it seriously ups ur movie and games at this price it's a mint bargain

in the same boat really. have a few models on watch but can't pull the trigger in case the sales are decent. not seen a Philips in the flesh so unwilling to take a chance. have seen the Hisense 65" in Hughes and it was just as good as the 55" TVs around it costing £100-200 more

these are superb, sure it may not be the latest 4k or HDR yardy yarda but the picture quality looks superb, the smart functions are superb and blow away Samsung's latest smart offering. The ambilight is great too.
I wish I had bought the next one up though purely for the top layer of ambilight

I'd advise to avoid this, I had the 49 inch version and returned. picture is great but all features are slow, especially apps. even TV guide is sluggish. also just completely froze randomly. oh and one of the HDMI ports was misaligned, so couldn't be used! I got a Samsung and much happier. good price though!

IS this actually a good 4K TV, I mean refresh rate wise ?
Or is it first gen 4k tech ?

I have this TV . it does have HDR 10 ... works great with ps4 pro, you can really see a difference. However it needs updating out the box to achieve this. The update also includes amazon video . You can download kodi onto which for me is great for use with exodus , sports devil etc . Ambilight is great , now I watch tv in the dark . The interface can sometimes be slow. over all great picture great tv and has a 2 yr warranty through Philips. You won't find a better tv at 540 quid.
