I wouldn't, news about pebbles future is bleak.

It's not that "bleak". They're still launching the Pebble Time 2 next year. Most of the layoffs were earlier in the year and they're still going, so I think they'll be ok for now.

I think Fitbit is trying to acquire them for a fairly low price.

I heard the deal is almost done with Fitbit and that they want to phaze Pebble out. They just want the IP etc.

Would. Mean your warranty would still be valid though.

Ugh...reading that the PT2 has been delayed actually, didn't know that. I suppose you can only hope that Fitbit maintain the Pebbles in the short term at least.
Don't know what i'd do without my Pebble Time.

As announced today, Pebble are no longer trading and have cancelled all production, Fitbit having bought them / paid off their debts. I'm considering one of these to replace the Pebble Time 2 I had ordered. Not sure I could live with the gold though.

Don't bother... it's a proprietary software that requires web connection to function properly. The timeline etc functions will just disappear if fitbit ever decides to switch the servers off. There is potentially a workaround for android users but there's not much point in buying a new piece of tech which is cut off from official updates. Warranty wise, you'll still get a year from amazon. I've got a gold one and it looks badass with a black milanese band i got from aliexpress

Leaves a gap in the market for a smartwatch that prioritises battery and simplicity.

There'll be no support following the take over.

There's no good reason the timeline should require their servers, but I agree that there are likely to be parts of the service which will fall apart quite soon and it isn't worth the risk. 'Tis just a shame that my Pebble Steel's screen problems are often unbearable, and that I've been forced over to Apple Watch.

No warranty, pebble servers being phased out, no software updates so won't work with any new phone OS's and pebble ceasing trading is a reason to not buy, vote cold so people don't buy a non functioning watch please.
