HDR - High Dynamic Range
Taking 4K UHD one stage further, the Panasonic TX-50DX700B is compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range). This extends the range of colours for enhanced realism. It also delivers brighter whites and darker blacks, helping to give this TV stunning levels of contrast.
Local dimming for the best picture from all sources.
Equipped with Local Dimming, this Panasonic 50 inch TV makes the most of any images - whatever the resolution. Whether 4K UHD, 1080p FHD or standard definition, Local Dimming adjusts the brightness of the screen by zones. This gives greatly improved contrast, as the black sections of the TV can be darker and the whites brighter.
4K 1400 Hz BMR for a super-crisp response
The Panasonic TX-50DX700B uses a 4K 1400 Hz BMR (Backlight Motion rate) panel for superbly crisp motion response. This means that when watching action movies or sport, the TX50DX700B has the speed and clarity to keep up with the action without motion blur.
Spacious sound
In addition to offering a superb picture quality, the Panasonic TX50DX700B also offers good sound quality too. The built-in 20W amplifier provides full-bodied sound, while VR-Audio True Surround produces a surround sound effect. There's both analogue (via headphones) and optical digital audio outputs, so it's easy to add a home cinema system or soundbar/base.
Effortless operation with my Home Screen 2 powered by Firefox OS and Voice Assistant
Highly rated by the reviewers, my Home Screen 2 offers an attractive and clear operating interface which is also easy to customise. By using clear, superimposed icons, it's easy to find the function you want. Better still, with just a few clicks you can get your favourite apps, web pages or even TV channels to appear on your own customised Homepage. With clarity and easy customisation, this is how Smart TV should be! Voice Assistant means you simply have to speak into the controller to bring up content and search results.
Integrate your entertainment
When it comes to smart TV flexibility, the TX50DX700B has all the features you need. A wide range of web apps are complimented by a full web browser. DLNA certified streaming makes it easy to transfer music and video files from your home computer, laptop or NAS drive to the TV. Also standard is Swipe and Share functionality. Swipe and share lets you use the Panasonic VIERA app for smartphone media sharing. By using the app on your smartphone or tablet you can easily stream pictures, 4K videos and music straight to the TV - no cables required.
Freeview Play for easy access to catch-up TV
The Panasonic TX50DX700B features Freeview Play. This combines catch-up TV, on-demand services and live television to make it easy to watch what you want, when you want. It's free from subscription and compatible with existing broadband services, while BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5 are available without having to open specific apps, giving effortless scroll-back TV (requires broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2Mbps).
With its smart spec and HDR resolution, 4K TV has never looked so good at this price.

I read somewhere on hereabout lg not being true 4K screens because they sacrifice pixels as whites? ( something like that) . Same on this tv?
I liking the Panasonic however I'll mainly be watching standard tv so need the one with the best upscale and least motion blur. Advice will be read and taken under consideration if it's not to biased

55 is to big I believe as I don't have access to many hd sources. Will just be what the tv has whether free sat or hd free view. Plus my room size. I currently have a 8 year old series 6 Samsung 40 which is big enough so I really only want a 43 to 50inch .
Cheers for the comment though.

Lots of retailers doing this for 599 at the moment. Some have another 20 off plus quidco, no need to worry about warranty as panasonic doing 5 years on this model.

I'd look at android is hopefully will be updated and grow. like the sonys out there. I had this and a xd80 in my sights
We have used one of these since a week before Christmas and it has delivered on all fronts so far.
Blu-ray upscaling from a fairly basic LG player is really something.
Online content (not used wi-fi yet) streamed through ethernet using power LAN adapters is good. 4K content through Netflix is well worth the couple of quid extra and this TV handles things superbly.
Free play HD channels are top notch and even SD broadcasts are watchable.
Have added a 400gb HDD for Free play recording and a Logitech wireless keyboard for web based applications and surfing.
The Firefox OS interface is really slick and the Netflix button is really quick although I am comparing it to the rather clunky Netflix access through a PS3.
I cannot as yet comment on gaming performance as my PS3 decided to adopt the now infamous YLOD as an early Christmas present.
I would definitely recommend this as at under £600 it takes a lot of beating. We did not buy from Richer Sounds but having bought other hi-fi and home cinema kit from them I see no reason not use them.

Not surprised you see no reason to buy from them - they are highly respected with decent warranties as standard unlike John no price match Lewis and Currys own model number no price match pc world.

I would advise not asking for advice on cars in a TV thread to start with.
