Sorry, nearly £200 for a router is stupid, and if you are a serious gamer, you want ethernet to minimise pings.
This doesnt do anything practical that my £65 TPLink cant do just as well.
The only report of its VDSL performance I have found said it was slower than the BT HH5 it was supposed to replace.

That's not difficult, the HH5 was rubbish, can't sell my old one anywhere
For less than half the money you can get a TPLink Archer all in one ADSL/VDSL/4G modem that does everything the Netgear does, just as well, and for a bit less - if you dont mind supposedly slower Wifi Speeds, the TPL Archer VR200 AC750 can be had for £65-£75 if you shop around (RRP is a bit more).
My VR200 syncs my 80Mb VDSL line at 105Mbps, so speed is being limited by BT, and not the line or router, and is also one of the few that work with SKY VDSL lines.
It also gets similar 5Ghz wifi speeds as reported tests for the NG - through several brick walls (25-45MBps); even though the NG is supposed to be five times faster.

You mis read, the guy said the NG was SLOWER than the HH5.
And yeah, I dont rate the HH5 either, although it is a big improvement on the HH4!!
I dont rate NG either, over the years I had serious issues with several, including one ADSL model that melted after 6 months use (DGN2000).
As I mentioned in another offer thread a few days ago, I swapped out a poorly performing NG with my old TPL 7890 (or was it 7980??), and got my mums line speed up from ~2.2 to 5.4Mbps; a stupidly huge improvement.
The TPL was originally my replacement for the melted DGN2000, and gave me about 1.5MBps more than the NG ever managed.
Another (cheap) TPL I picked up to use during a 6 month stay in China, was given to some friends, and also nearly doubled their line speed over an old BT HH2 (120Kbps to around 200Kbps).

I don't understand why routers are so expensive. Surely the technology inside them isn't that more complex than a tablet. I guess it's the supply and demand thing. I would really like a decent router but couldn't justify £200. Looks like a great bit of kit though.
actually if you are after an all in one solution and want to run VPN server at the router level there aren't many options out there. Netgear is probably the only one that offers sensible price. the D7000 is supposed to be decent. saying that this is a tad on the expensive side.

No, we are talking these are the best speeds they can currently get - stuck in a dead patch between 3 VDSL enabled areas and no hope of getting anything faster without going to a mobile set up (which I have suggested)
