Got mine this morning - failed to break it yet, but still plenty of time - joking aside, windows/10 is a lot less painful than I was expecting (after installing "Classic Start menu" - deleting all the Microsoft Bloatware & sticking on Firefox & Thunderbird)
Deep down I really want to go entirely "open source" but I understand there are issues unlocking the UEFI startup, so that'll have to wait for another day!

Anything less than 1080 in 2016 is inexcusable, and represents poor value for consumers. This unit can easily drive FHD for the anticipated uses, it is not a gaming machine. FHD is so much better for browsing, video playback and WP, plus this is an IPS panel, not the atrocious TN panels seen in most cheap to mid range laptops.

However "It's a good price for what it is" followed by "what it is isn't worth buying for any price" seems rather confusing and contradictory.
However what is clear is that you consider this to be basically useless, and I hold a different opinion, indeed I am using a similar device at the moment. Sometimes our peers are better served by sharing knowledge gained through experience, rather than prejudice.

Bought my daughter one for Christmas, fine for YouTube, web browsing and ms office.

Absolutely not worth it. It's a good price for what it is, but what it is isn't worth buying for any price. Save up more and buy a better laptop. Get a Chromebook if you really need a cheap laptop.

Very bad device.. processor is several years old and too slow to do anything much at all. Combined with the measly 2GB of ram it'll start to struggle as soon as you try to open several tabs at once, or use multiple desktops etc - basically can't do anything other than simple word processing and very basic browsing. As soon as you try to edit a publication with many pictures or a large spreadsheet it will become unusable. Cold because the experience this device provides isn't fit for anyone

This is ideal for the user who wants to do basic word processing and browsing. It is definitely not a bad device. Because it is not suitable for you doesn't mean that it "isn't fit for anyone". Why encourage people to spend more than they need to?
Pretty big downside, especially when the Medion's screen gets some very good reviews.

For £10 more probably better off with a Linx 1010. Basically identical specs but with the added benefit of being a tablet with keyboard attachment instead of a notebook. Only downside is the lower resolution screen.
I think you have me confused with someone else - these days I don't have time to play computer games 8-(

Get a portable HDD - Simple as that! And anyway, this is pretty much something you'd either give to a child as a toy for browsing to Cbeebies or a student for word documents which would likely only take up between 400k - 1.2mb. From the sounds of things, you want to install Crysis 3 on there and try tweaking it like youtubes LowSpecGamer - Sorry, not going to happen :smile:

Looks very good value - even if the processor is a little slow. I owned a Windows tablet with similar specs for a while - was fine for general browsing, YouTube etc but struggled with anything more demanding.

I was gonna say something like this, Not that I new about it, But only the other day for some reason I dug out my old Atom powered Hannspree Netbook that was used like twice and is still as good as brand new, Had a 2GB stick from an old laptop that I stuck in it for a boost, Stuck on lite version of Linux, Still runs like a dog.
Shame really, It's as good as new, But it's good for nothing, May as well take out the 250B sata Hard Drive and dump it.

This looks a similar spec (identical other than larger screen size) to the Lenovo Miix 3 I got a year or so back. I'm using it for work when travelling, runs Office fine, runs Autocad Trueview slowly but OK. Does everything I need of it.
MicroSD card slot so you store as much as you need. HDMI out so you can connect to a large screen or projector. Bluetooth for a mouse.
For £99 this looks like a real bargain - might get a backup!

Wipe Win10 and install Linux and it will be a decent machine for a couple of years, that 32GB of storage is the real issue, not even enough to do the last big Win10 update, as plenty of cheap and cheerful netbook owners discovered.

Likely the same trick they did with the cherry 8300 etc, causes serious speed issues. Likely to get better performance with 2gb tbh.

Think that's the Z3745 or similar. The Z3735F is restricted to 2GB and the Z3735G to 1GB. But regardless, like you say, the RAM is almost always soldered on these thin and light netbooks.
That screen is brilliant for a £100 machine.

But no, there's no ability to upgrade ram in this device anyway.
