Every time this deal gets posted you post the same comment with change in prices. No idea what you trying to convey? Buying a returned item for less price is better than a brand new?? :smirk:

I'm looking to buy a midrange tablet as a present, how does this compare to the recently posted deals on tablets?

This is the cheapest price for this tablet now. It's better to Lenovo tab 2 a10-30 and the Asus deal for £99

Yep, this still remains a WHICH? Best Buy even though an older tablet now. Out scores the newer Tab 3

I have one, nice little tablet for the money, battery life is far better than any other tablet I have owned.
My only quibble is it's WiFi, which seems a little weak compared to the rest of my wireless devices.

Bought 2 of these last year, mainly for running Kodi, and they are great for the money. The screen is excellent with it being full HD (1920x1200).

It will update to lollipop as soon as you turn it on and ignore the comments not to as they refer to the original update and it has had several incremental updates to fix all the problems.

Could one of you explain what the difference is between this and the one on offer at Argos ?
vassy4u to chiefchick
8 Dec 16#11
Argos - £149. Then you get £10 Argos voucher to use next time. Plus combine with the £10 paypal cashback on £100 argos spend via voucherbox - limited availability for an online purchase https://www.voucherbox.co.uk/vouchers/argos
- If you are an amex cardholder you may have a targeted offer of £45 argos spend and get £5 credit or spend £100 and get £10 credit. This can be combined with the other offers.
But with Tesco you get it for £139 + 139 club card points.

If that was the similar sounding -30, it has a low res screen and only 1Gb ram so to be avoided as opposed to this which is a solid buy albeit not being the newest kid on the block anymore. Got my youngest one last Christmas, for similar money, and it's still doing solid service.

Bought one a year ago, excellent tablet very happy with it. Have dropped it of sofa numerous times onto wooden floor the last time landed face down and fine cracks in screen glass which can be replaced for about £20. So quite a robust tablet.

Amazing price. Who need an ipad when you can have this baby for a fraction of the price.
Put a price match request in with JL as they have 2-year guarantee. Current price £149.95 there.

Actually they haven't fixed either the weak WiFi and dropouts or the Dolby Atmos, I have updated every time and did it again today when it said update available and the same two problems are still there.
It seems you either get one that works properly or one that dosen't and if you get the one that dosen't (WiFi issues and or Dolby Atmos issues) then I would return it until you get one that dosen't have these problems.
Jetset1981
8 Dec 161#26
Agreed. Atmosphere still doesn't work and I've tried every trick from all the forums and from previous threads on here.

8 Dec 16#27
It is 2gb ram and the difference in res isn't very noticeable for the price difference. The £99 is still a very worthy contender and more than adequate for most. I have both models in the household. Please at least get the facts right before you tell people they have to spend 40℅ more when they really don't.

I bought the A grade refurb from Argos on Ebay for £119, but had an issue with WIFI, it didnt work or signal was very very weak and kept droping down. So ive sent it back.
Id luv to buy new one, but im afraid of that WIFI problem. Other wifi devices at home have full signal all the time.

They have "more than 10" in each colour!

8 Dec 16#37
Nope, you need to get your facts right!
The A10-30 only has 1Gb of RAM, it's wrongly listed as 2Gb on the Argos site, and the screens are a world apart so I'd suggest a trip to the optician.

I must've been lucky and got a perfect one like many others.

as a purchaser of the A10-30 from Argos it clearly states on the box 2Gb, with and without my glasses

John Lewis just refused to price match as Tesco Direct is online only.
Jetset1981
8 Dec 16#41
Try reading the A10-30 thread with all the people who have purchased like myself from Argos and confirmed it's 2gb ram on both colours. Not one person says it's 1gb who's purchased. There was an older A10-30 model and it's a misprint on the site. I suggest you get your facts right. I bet you've not seen the screens side by side either. We can all count pixels but in reality watching the difference not a lot. If you want to pay £40 more and that's a factor then that's fair enough, I'm not disputing it. But it's 2gb Ram my friend. You are wrong :stuck_out_tongue:
Jetset1981
8 Dec 16#42
Congratulations on that! The problem doesn't affect them all. As stated in my previous reply to you, try reading the threads and forums about the many people with atmos and WiFi problems. It's a great tab but please do a bit of research before you try and call people out. You just make yourself look stupid.

I bought one from Argos today for £149.99 and got a £10 voucher back too so to me it didn't make much difference in the Tesco price also I didn't have to wait for collection date or delivery , which our Tesco is always late with anyway.

Re cases - there seems to be quite a few A10-70 threads (!) so I'll quote myself a couple of times, in case anyone's missed it. I'll update when I get mine.

I've been tinkering around with the A10-70 (I'm the one entrusted to put apps on it) for my sister's boyf's Xmas.
It's a beauty - when I powered up it did an Android update pretty much right away - it's on 5.0.1 now. Gorgeous screen. Can't find anything wrong with the Dolby sound and tried various different modes - perfectly fine to me.
The cameras are just "okay" but that's what you expect from a tablet, really. Better than the awful 2MP ones my Linx 10 had, anyway.
Was surprised to see it picked up my 5G signal, so that's another plus from the A10-30 (which my younger niece will be getting soon, I'll probably be putting apps on that next!).
Could do with a MicroSD card but I'll let sis worry about that!
