The nostalgia look is great. However, the old Kenwood mixers were built in England and were incredibly robust whereas the modern ones are made in China. My wife is a very keen baker. She managed to put several Made in China mixers out of business. So I bought the real 'nostalgia' thing: a blue A701A Kenwood Chef with loads of attachments including a glass liquidiser and mincer which are very expensive to buy new. It cost £60 for the whole lot. All the Kenwood Chef needed were new feet which you can still get and cost very little (there are loads of spares available). I also bought one of the new flexi-beaters which are an additional cost on the new mixers too. Unless we're on holiday the mixer is used every week and has lasted far longer than any of our much more expensive from new purchases. If you want a vintage mixer, in my experience you're better off buying the real thing. There are loads reasonably priced on Gumtree and Ebay and many are wedding presents that have only been used once or twice.

I have a Kenwood Chefette (I think that's the name) that's around 50 years old. The liquidiser attachment failed due to crazing in the plastic at the bottom of the bowl. Apart from that, it's still going strong.
