Was previously posted here and then the offer ended http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huge-saving-hp-envy-4524-colour-one-printer-with-5-months-free-ink-black-friday-2547554

Its on again - in case someone (like myself) missed it back then. Quidco isn't as lucrative(1.1% which is measly :disappointed:) like last time though - but this is still the best price I could find for it online.

6 nectar points for every 1 pound spent at Currys through Nectar.

PriceRunner hasn't updated yet to pick the updated prices as it's just gone live a few mins back.

Hopefully it helps someone.

Does anyone know if scanning also counts towards the monthly paper quota or not? Thanks.

Been using it to print and its a fab printer - shame on the speed of printing though - color takes ages and even black isn't fast by any means. Guess that's expected for a budget printer though. Outside of this been very impressed with it and the ink offer is a massive sweetener - makes the printer virtually free if you manage to use the monthly quota - which I am doing so far

This is OK for a cheap all in one, but photocopying is slow and scanning is slow.
It is OK if you are doing one copy but if you are doing lots then it is a pain and you notice the difference.

To complete the setup you will need to fill in some card details, although you wont be billed until the end of the trial. You can change the card details at any point.

I setup my mums in her absence with my card details temporarily, then when with her we logged in to her Instant ink account and changed them to her card details. Check your PM.

Ordered last night, being delivered today via DPD (with any luck).
Sale has now ended, but price has only risen slightly to £39.99, still advertised with the 5 month free Instant Ink trial.

Do you need to give your bank details immediately to set up the Instant Ink trial, or can this be done later if you decide to continue with the plan ?? (Buying it as a present for someone & hoping to set it up for them).

Just a heads up, the printer is now showing in stock for home delivery and to delivery and collect from store.

Just ordered one, fingers crossed. Hopefully it will be as least as good as my current HP Deskjet 2510 which is running low on ink, plus I need the wireless printing option.

Great printer. Voted hot.

The best part is 5 months free ink!!! I'm on the 300 pages per month! All free!

Also if you recommend a friend or know someone who uses hp instant ink then you both gain a free month of the instant ink service with each others code and there is no limit on this  due to this I have extended my 5 months! My family and friends are well chuffed.

Looks great, easy setup and you can create its own email address so you can send stuff straight to the printer while at work!

if you go over 300 they charge £1 per 15 pages on the 1.99 plan, £1 per 20 pages on the 3.49 plan and £1 for 25 pages on the 7.99 plan. They just send you as much ink as your printer needs, it literally is just the pages they count. Hope that helps

27 Dec 16 #69
I used Kodak photo paper and the quality when blown up to A4 was acceptable. If you want to print out photographs at the normal size then you are ok, but it is not going to be as sharp as the model that someone posted earlier due to the capabilities of the printer.

For colour prints (other than photographs) it is excellent.

you get 5 months free trial with the printer, using a referral code just gives you an additional month free. 50 prints is £1.99 a month (£1 per 15 pages over plan) and 100 prints is £3.49 a month (£1 per 20 pages over plan). You can roll over 50 pages per month too. If you think you'd definitely use more than 50 per month then the £3.49 plan would suit you best

Thanks a lot - the printer is really for occasional use for my daughter's school work prints and some prints I might need from time to time - tops 100 prints a month is what I am looking at. Considering that sort of usage what sort of ink cost am I staring at in your opinion post the trial ending?
UniquelyMoi247
26 Dec 16 #53
this is what I have done. You can move freely between plans with no notice I believe. Also, I dont think you have to sign up to 7.99 a month to get the 300 pages per month trial. When you sign up it automatically covers you for up to 300 pages per month despite what plan your on. Might be worth double checking this and signing up to the lower plan in case you forget and get charged when the time comes. Also don't forget to use a referral code for an extra month free
PasPer2
26 Dec 16 #52

There is a free plan though, at least I believe it's still available, maybe someone can let us know. But the free plan allows you to print 15 pages per month for free. They will still send cartridges as and when. Obviously if you go over one month you will get charged the £1 for 10 prints or whatever. But HP can pull the deal at any time I suppose, though I'd expect you'd get a month's notice. Might be worth checking out
b_sinatra
26 Dec 16 #48
so is it true that I will get 5-months worth of instant ink - free of any charge, or will I have take up a plan from day one and so will have to pay min 1.99 per month etc. ??
trainspotter
26 Dec 16 #47
I've ordered. I am considering signing up for the £7.99 a month trial, getting 5 months Ink for free and dropping down to a lower tariff if it turns out that my usage is lower. If I understand this correctly though I could really hammer the ink deal and print out 1500 colour A4 photos between now and May for no ink cost. (less than 1500 when you allow for waste age)
UniquelyMoi247
26 Dec 16 #46
I think they take the 302 cartridges (HP Genuine). My previous printer took them and it cost me £20 a pop for standard size black and tri-colour. Which is why I went for this deal on the £1.99 a month plan (after the trial I will) it's £24 for the year... Never run out of ink again or have it dry up and buy more?! That'll do me :sunglasses:

How much does the standard ink cartridges for this thing cost? I haven't yet got to that point of course so no clue.
UniquelyMoi247
26 Dec 16 #42
Afraid not. It's all done via the Internet as the data is collected remotely. The printer won't order ink until it reaches a certain low level. So you'd need to be using the ink in order to be sent more. Besides which, with them being instant ink cartridges, being different to standard ones, apparently if you cancel your subscription the printer won't allow you to use the instant ones. It just won't print. You'd need to buy standard ones at that point.
The printer itself will allow so many prints "offline", it needs to be on the network.
preecey
26 Dec 16 #41
It doesn't work like that.

The Instant Ink cartridges require your printer to be actively connected to the internet and should you cease to be subscribed to an Instant Ink plan, the cartridges will stop working even if they're full. They will print again once a new plan is commenced.

Inks are only sent out when the last cartridge(s) start to run low. You aren't sent a stockpile to use over five months. The printer tells HP when the Instant Ink cartridges are running low, and they then send out a replacement for the respective colour(s) as well as recycling envelopes to send the old ones back.
duckative
26 Dec 16 #40
Is it possible to rack up the inks even if you don't use them all in each month? i.e can i request for more ink as part of the trial, essentially 5 months of ink (of the 300pages package) free to use at any later date with this product? Thanks
b_sinatra
26 Dec 16 #37
sorry to sound d.. , but what exactly is the ink trial?
UniquelyMoi247 to b_sinatra
26 Dec 16 1 #39
Basically your printer orders ink for you before it runs out, and its delivered to you door. You sign up to one of three packages - 50 pages for £1.99 per month, 100 for £3.49 pm or 300 for £7.99 pm. It doesn't matter whether you print a full A4 photo or two sentences, it's classed as one page. You can roll over 50 pages per month. If you go over your plan you do get charged - it's £1 for 15 / 20 / 25 depending on plan. Though the trial covers you for up to 300 pages per month as standard. Hope that helps

While this is considered a budget entry level printer by many, I purchased this one a few months ago and is excellent, compared to my old Epson wireless printer!
It is so easy to set-up over WiFi and can print directly from my Android phone, tablet, PC and Mac!

The print quality is very good for the average user, quite quick, like the design and the small footprint, how there is a paper drawer which keeps the paper dust free and also how you can print on both sides and the printer turns the paper for you!

The scanner is a little slow, but good quality on the higher setting, but there no paper feed.

If you print lots, you probably want to go for a professional office model, designed for high usage, but if you just print a few pages, excellent option!

Instant ink basically gives you as many ink cartridges that you want for free, and you pay a small amount for the amount of pages that you print, regardless if it's high quality photographs or a email. This printer will give you 5 months for free of any of the 5 plans avaialble, 50 page/£1.99, 100 pages/£3.49 or 300 pages/£7.99, you can change the plans as you see fit, and any pages that are not used are rolled over into next month.
