Timer settings work as a solid argument yeah. I was just referring to all the people falling for the silly gimmick that is Echo. There is practicality, as you've outlined, and there is paying over £100 so you can ask something to do something that by the time you've finished asking you could have just flicked a bloody switch. :smirk:

This the the cheapest Hive bulb deal so far. I bought 3 recently from argos, and rate them highly.
Unfortunately you cant group them yet in the Hive app.

This is for a single bulb? Your picture and reference to bulbs makes it sound as if it's a twin pack.
Also all the hive stuff is reduced at Maplin.

I fitted these led with Pir sensors in hall and landing, do the same as avoid coming in to dark hall, comes on as soon as open door and only cost £4.64 each
I also have yeelights in the bedrooms which can set schedules and also scenes like sunset sunrise, movie etc too on the colour ones
Works with ok Google using tasker though I just use the app to be honest, and can also work with Alexa indirectly, though they are working on a skills for it too, a lot cheaper than hive, nest and hue

One of the most useful features of these lights is the ability to set timers, great for winter saves you coming home to dark hall way. Also if on holiday can set them to turn on and off to look like someones home. Not all about just being lazy / talking to them. I just have them in my lounge and hallway, although is nice to dim from the sofa when movie starts!

Well the cheap 1s are a pound dearer but the ones you should buy are cheaper at amazon if only by a penny, tuneable and colour, I dont like warm white bulbs but depends on your preference.

I go one even better. I say "switch off lights", and then I switch them off. I'm sure it will catch on but I realise true innovation like this takes time to proliferate. I also don't need my anything to talk to my anything else.

wow - nearly £600 for 20 bulbs!

Does anyone know if they can be dimmed via a wall switch as well as the app?
Dave_dave69 to roomy25

Yes they can. But it is not recommended. Once you have dimmed them from the switch it overrides hive - you can still dim them further through hive or turn them off - but you cannot turn them up higher than the dimmer switch has set them to.
The lifx ones work with alexa and don't require a hub, don't know how good they are compared to the hue, but if you're only after 1 or 2 bulbs probably more cost effective
Yes - you need to add the Hive skill to echo first.

Yes and no. They do, but you need the Hive Hub. The bulbs talk to the hub and Alexa talks to the hub
Opening post
£13 for the basic white bulbs (bayonet & screw)
£30 for the colour changing ones.
Cheapest ive seen in a while
