I returned a TV a few weeks back due to a fault. They collected next day and refunded in full later that very day. As long as the TV has a fault, no matter how intermittent it is they'll refund you. Example a line on the screen that shows up now and again or its randomly switching itself off - if you know what I mean :wink:

It will suit it if you want a cinema screen in your room... depends on room usage. For a lounge with a sofa etc , for me it would be too big for that size room. You may like it, it's personal choice.

Asking people to pick a tv size for your room is like asking someone what you should be wearing today. Every one will have an opinion and none may be right for you.
Get a measure and figure out what you think is the right size for you. It wont take long and you will buy something that is right for you.

What do you mean by depend where I put the TV. Are you saying I could get away with a 58inches in a 3.2 by 2.8 if I put the TV on the longest part of the room.

Is this TV too big for a room that is 330 cm long and 280 cm wide. If (yes), what would be a good TV size for a room of the above measurement.

does this TV handle 60hz 4K OK? i know some of the older hisense tvs had issues with blacks being grey etc.

I think all Hisense TV's are VA - I used to love IPS screens in the days before LED back lighting but every recent example I've seen or even tried has suffered from Dirty Screen Effect and, as you say, the blacks are terrible, even more so when you move off center.

Can you use a kodi fire stick with this tv ?

That doesnt sound too bad. I've had a couple laptops with similar anti glare and it does seem to work well indoors, you get the reflection but it's not really noticeable vs the backlight. Completely different outdoors vs matte but tbh I dont plan on taking a tv ourdoors :smiley:.

​I'm guessing the 5500 is also va not ips? Such an annoying dilemma, the blacks are teŕrible on my tv, grey and crush badly but you can view it pretty much side on without washing colours.

Apparently there are other firmware versions that improve 3D performance but like I said that issues I was experiencing could be down to a number of issues. Looking at the screen now with a lamp on in the room it is very glossy but it appears to have some sort of anti glare tint as the bright lamp is clear in the refection but very dull if you know what I mean. Ive not noticed any issues with glare during daytime viewing. This is a va screen so once you move off centre colours wash out but it's about what I would expect, your trading off viewing angles for deep blacks.

Ita interesting that they are matte/glossy. Any info on if the 58 is a big difference reflection wise in the day. Also are the viewing angles good/bad for either? The one benefit of my current tv is that its IPS and looks good from awkward angles on my corner couch.

The 58" has better sound, deeper blacks, better screen uniformity and overall build quality. The screen is also more glossy which I prefer over the mostly matt panel the 65" 5510 used. It also has more features, local dimming which gives contrast a boost (really well) and Active 3D. It also handles motion better, with the 65" I noticed trailing and ghosting on darker content.

The 65" is bigger and the menu system is a little quicker than the 58" Don't get me wrong for the money, its good but the 58" is better in pretty much every respect.

Upscaling is fine, both TV's do a fine job of Upscaling SD and 1080i content - that's one of the first things I noticed on the 65" while watching question time of all things.

I've only tried 3D once and wasn't very impressed as the image had lots of cross talk. That said I was playing back a SBS film off a slow flash drive using Samsung Glasses so there could be a number of reasons why it was very underwhelming.

I've been using mine for a couple of weeks now and its mightily impressed me. Having owned a 65K5510 this 58" is better in pretty much every respect. Build quality is exceptional, sound is far better and the panel is more uniform and with better blacks thanks to local dimming which actually works wonders. As for the HDR update, I've not loaded any new firmware as I'm not particularly bothered. Chances are this TV does indeed have a 10bit Panel inside it as the company that manufactures them only does 58" Panels at 10bit 100/120Hz. I only wished I'd bought the 65" K700/730 earlier in the year and not waited for the K5510. You're best off digging through this thread for firmware info:

They price matched the 55M7000 with me for Crompton and Moore, but they wouldn't match with the 20 quid voucher code, so only 699 match by John Lewis.

Tempted but there are so many Hisense models floating about HUKD it's hard to know what difference there is. Still looking at the 55M7000 for £679..

Ordered. I am a realist, this will not be the best TV going. There may be issues. For the price though, the only complaint I can make is that the wife is going to kill me.

They can't as they can't update the hardware from 8 bit to 10 bit, so it's nonsense.

​It wont be hardware capable at this price. The firmware updates merely allow the tv to process the hdr signal. The panel has to be 10 bit whether the firmware gets updated or not to actually display HDR correctly.

Unfortunately this has not been explained very well, and manufacturers are quite happy to stick HDR on their boxes despite not being able to display the extra colours.

Can you get access to NowTV via the built in App Store?

Personally I'd never buy a TV without first testing instroe with a USB stick loaded with a selection of media....
Don't just go by the mage qaulity on the in store demo either...all TV's look nice playing a 1080p/4k animation etc...

Test low bitrate media as this is this will show you how good the TV's upscaling quality is...despite there being plenty of HD channels now there are still times when you'll be watching something in SD and some large screen 4k TV's realy aren't very good with SD material

I just called them to ask about returns if I don't like the TV.
If you don't turn the TV on, returns are free and you get a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
If you do turn the TV on, AO.com retains 45% of the TV's value as "we can't see a used tv".

I'm hoping I can find this for sale elsewhere that will price match.

pixel count is a physical thing, you can't increase the number of pixels via an update, but you can update the firmware to enable more functions if the hardware can handle it.

The hardware is HDR capable so they send out a firmware update to enable it.

Most of the recent Hisense TV's have had ota hdr updates. I know its not top spec hdr but for £490 you wont get much better
