Harmony Hub Works with Echo £84.99 + free express shipping for next 90 mins, use code HARMONYFUN for this price
Can be used with Echo to control TV/Stereo Etc
CONTROL IT ALL VIA SMARTPHONE OR TABLET
Harmony Hub turns your smartphone or tablet into a universal remote, giving you control over your home entertainment and smart home devices. You can change channels and volume, program favorites, control lights and other smart devices, and build multi-device experiences called Activities. Plus you can do it all even when you’re away from home.
I really want this, but only if it works like that, eg 'Alexa watch tv', 'Alexa turn the sound up' (on the tv), 'alexa turn to BBC1'. If all it can do is turn on/off the tv then it's not worth it IMO.

There are 2 Harmony skills, the one the US had for ages and a new one that was recently released over there and here. We don't have the original one, we only got the new one.

It does not work with Echo in the UK. Only in the US so far. You can get it working via 3rd party apps but they are not very reliable. False advertising.

How can you be sure? Where did you got information from?
It says on Amazon UK: "Echo Dot (2nd Generation) is a hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses Alexa to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, read the news, set alarms, and more "

If you have a mobile (ideally one you have spare) with an IR blaster you can use the 'Anymote Universal remote +wifi' app and get alexa to control your av devices that way.
The anymote skill isnt available here in the UK (yet)...

It's not only US. It works in the UK too (I have one). However, it's painfully slow. Takes about 30 seconds to change the channel.

I already have the Harmony Hub, and bought the Echo Dot in order to control it with voice. Disappointing results so far. I (and a few others on the Logitech forum) seem to have issues accessing the Harmony Hub remotely and this in turn seems to cause issues with the Echo Dot being able to see and send commands to it. It does this from the cloud, rather than from the Echo Dot itself, so relies on external access to the Harmony Hub.
It worked briefly on Xmas evening but all downhill since then
Anyone here having a better experience?

I had a hub with remote over a year ago as an amazon black Friday deal. I'm sure I paid about this for both. I returned it. I had to have ir blasters wired in inconvenient places, the remote it came with was poor, the phone app was abysmal, and to cap it all it just couldn't work with my Sony av amp. I'm now on the harmony ultimate, much better, and it's just a remote.

Got the hub with a dot on Saturday. Is nice when it does work but the voice comprehension on the dot is pretty bad atm. Almost close to returning it, it's that's infuriating at times. Alexa tell harmony to change the channel to sky sports 1. I'd say I have about a 10% success rate.

Reading comments and reviews it's not as great to control Alexa as we think. It's quite limited

You ve missed the point, Alexa controls harmony, harmony controls everything else, read how to program harmony to do activities, its only really useful if you have a lot of kit, for example i can program it to turn on tv, blu ray player, home cinema amp, set all the out puts to the correct ones so tv to av, amp to blu ray and dim lights ready to watch a movie, otherwise i would need 3 remotes and light switch. It will do all this with one command. If you just want to turn the tv over by voice some smart tvs will do that

You need the hub to bridge between alexa and devices, alexa communicates with your tv through the hub, your phone acts as remote through hub without Alexa, you need phone/tablet to program hub then Alexa can control by voice. Remote can separately control anything you program it too.
You dont need the remote but for £15 more can get it, that deal also includes the hub, not listed in top of description but is when you read what makes up the package.

So remote can do exactly same as hub? Both can control Alexa then? Remote replaces all remotes at home + controls Alexa and hub controls alexa + can use app on phone as remote?
You can buy just the hub, hub with echo, hub and remote or hub remote and echo. The remote isnt needed as can use the app or echo but if you still wanted a remote you can put all your others in a cupboard and just use the companion remote for everything if you wished

There's no hub only remote. Trying to understand. There's a deal with HUB and with REMOTE. What difference will it make.
yes it does!!!! Recently updated, Harmony have released their Skill for Alexa and also can use Yonomi
"Now Alexa and any Harmony hub-based remote work together, such as Harmony Elite and Harmony Companion. You can do all of your favorite things with your voice. It's so easy to turn on the TV and simply say "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn on the TV" and your TV and soundbar will come on.
Of course you can start and stop Harmony Activities as well. For example, you can say "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn on Netflix" or "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn on Sky Sports."
With this release, we've added some great new features. Now you can change the volume, change the channel or play/pause a movie. You can change the volume by saying, "Alexa, tell Harmony to increase the volume." Want to pause the movie? Simply say, "Alexa, tell Harmony to pause." All your entertainment is now a simple ask away.
We are always working hard to make sure that your Harmony remote works with all of the latest devices.
