Never heard of anyone growing it from cuttings, but if your sprig has seeds you might be able to get them to germinate (as others have posted above). However, mistletoe is often harvested before the seeds are ripe so don't be too disappointed if they don't germinate. If your mistletoe has no seeds it's probably a male.

It's a myth that you should scrape bark off - and one of the reasons many people fail to grow mistletoe. The seeds have evolved to work from outside the bark - just as they would be if planted by birds smearing the berries. I've grown it fairly easily following the advice on the mistletoe.org.uk website.

It'll grow on an apple tree? I thought it was picky about who it buddied up with. I might try this.

Mistletoe is a parasitic, it grows from seed (inside the mistletoe berries). If you have an apple tree scrape a small area of the bark off a branch and smear the berry (sticky) onto the cleared area. Then wait, and wait, and wait.......

my late and amazing Uncle Les and Aunty Minnie always had a sprig of mistletoe in their house at Xmas. They pinned it to the ceiling as you walked into the front room so you had to walk under it and get kissed when you visited. great times....... :disappointed:

Yeah and young children are supposed to play with the small toys not eat them, yet the toys come with choking hazard warnings. My favourite warning is the "Keep away from children" you get on washing capsules, better advice has never been given

Heat added. Have to say I am surprised to see that no one has mentioned that mistletoe is poisonous, waiting on the headline "Morrisons poisons Christmas shoppers"
