Smashed this a few times on Ps3 on launch and with vergil DLC. Worth buying for the PS4? Is it just graphics updated?

I too "smashed this a few times on PS3 on launch". Having bought it twice on PS3 and played it plenty on that platform before triple dipping for this version in a PSN sale a month ago, I must say there just isn't that big of a graphical upgrade between the two. I know that technically it's been upgraded to 1080p60 but that spec just doesn't match up to the feel of the experience on PS4 to the point. Overall, I'd say the upgrade is slight and it would be better to treat it as a straight port rather than a remaster if you want to gauge your expectations properly.
That said, I absolutely love this game and if you play it as often as I do, it's well worth a tenner.
An extra couple things to note are that the trophies on this remaster are far more achievable than on PS3 with little grind involved if you can beat it on the harder difficulties. This version contains all previously released DmC content with the exception of the Item Finder and Orb Harvester which, while being minor omissions, are still slightly annoying to play without. It makes up for this with additions like lock on and hardcore mode which are very fun to play with. Finally, only the standard difficulties come preunlocked so, for whatever reason, if you want to play on any of the challenging difficulties, you will have to speed through the earlier difficulties. I play most games on normal so I think it's fair if I say the standard difficulties are wayyyy too easy on DmC.
I think that's everything

Worst one in the franchise.... the best was the original and it kind of went down hill from there

That would be Devil May Cry 2.. this game is actually pretty decent. Not as good as 1 or 3, but better than 2 and 4. If Dante looked as he did in DMC3 nobody would have slated it imo
