Looks OK on the face of it but the specs say it has no additional hdmi inputs or any optical/coax audio inputs, which really limits its use to playing Dvd's or media from USB input. Unless I'm missing something.

Near HD upscaling... So SD then
Like saying my TV picture is nearly 3d.

I'm not sure, is it? I thought Upscaling was an improvement on SD; but of course not up to 'Actual' HD standard. I'll go by your assessment though!

In this age of 4k uhd blue ray and Hdr, this is sd. Very old waste of money.

Well HD is defined by its vertical resolution, and is generally agreed to be a minimum of 720 pixels. Plasmas of old managed to fudge things by using rectangular pixels in 1024x768 format. DVD (SD) is 576 pixels. So 'near' HD could well be upscaled to 577 pixels. Marketing **** basically. Plug a zx spectrum in to a 4k tv and you can say it's upscaled to 4k. It ain't though and will look better on an old CRT screen!

Great, many thanks for the clarification JD. So basically this system upscales; but only to between 577 and 719 pixels. Not at all near HD then eh.

I like the Audi / VW range, but don't like every product because it's got their name on it.

Stupid deal. If this is hot then will someone please pay me £35 for my older Sony DAV setup? It's like this one minus USB input... any takers? Thought not.
In 2016 any surround system needs either HDMI or optical inputs... FFS!
