BusyBox is a software application that provides many standard Unix tools, much like the larger (but more capable) GNU Core Utilities. BusyBox is designed to be a small executable for use with the Linux kernel, which makes it ideal for use with embedded devices. It has been self-dubbed "The Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux".
Leave this installed if you always want to get the latest version of busybox!

Basically, if you like rooting your phone consider buying this as a kind of donation to the makers of an essential part of that process.

The free version is installed with many root procedures but I have absolutely no idea what it actually does. The blurb says it brings together many applets into one application, but either it doesn't tell you what the applets are or what it does tell you is well over the top of your head. And I have a background in software development and coding.
Doesn't stop me using it though :smirk:

It's sometimes a requirement to have BusyBox installed for certain applications to function correctly. ToyBox is mainly used now as far as I know.
I gave up rooting when I realised my banking apps and Sky Go etc stopped working.

need to go full in then! Install xposed framework, root cloak or magisk. It is a pain though if your not working of a clean reset and the if what you loose by not rooting is less then benefits you get then I agree to take the easier path!

Important to remember this isn't busybox but it's an installer of the latest version of it. Most if not all Androids come preinstalled with busybox in system/xbin but it will never update except when a full system update comes along. This app also allows you to choose where busybox is installed, meaning it can be placed outside the system and used in conjunction with systemless root will mean you continue to get OTAs and stream without censure from sky etc since your Android's system is intact and never been tampered with. Busybox itself is a collection of Linux commands some of which aren't native to android so when an app runs a command not preinstalled in the system then the Busybox installed by this app will know what to do with it (99% of the time) rather than report an error due to an unrecognised command. This installer (free or paid) is the only one recommended and supported by the devs who make TWRP Recovery so if you use that then you will need this.
