I could not find this anywhere on the site so delete if already posted. We are moving house next week and instead of ringing British Gas to tell them I used there app.
As you go through the moving process via the app, as a little thank you for staying with them (we are as we on cheapest tariff thanks to MSE) they offer you either a free boiler service (worth £89) or a free Hive smart light starter kit (worth £119) which includes two bulbs and a router kit.
I opted for the Hive kit seeing as I pay monthly for a service through another provider.
I know it's very limited on who can have this but useful to know I thought, hence the post. Hope it helps someone.
I've since tried to find a reference on their website but cannot, so it must be exclusive to app

Be careful with this I did this and didn't realise that they set the boiler cover to auto renew after a year which is a bit sneaky.

I don't have boiler cover with BG and was still eligible for either. I went with the Hive kit :wink:

I actually had them keep taking my money for almost a year even though I had actually cancelled with them!!

Agree, just because the are a reputable company they seem to be able to charge over the top prices, when I see what customers pay for work I'm surprised anyone uses them.

out of interest, what is a fair price for a boiler service? in Scotland I paid £59 for my yearly one to maintain warranty but found that very expensive for 20 minutes worth of work...

I got a free boiler service with British gas from nationwide when I took out a mortguage with them in their movers box. Along with some other goodies.
Thanks for reminding me to use it.

This offer is available even if you are to phone them to do this, or by doing in online not just via the mobile app. Although to get the hive kit it has to be done on the app/online.

i pay £42 from a local firm in arbroath that is very good and has been on the go 30 yrs or so.
