Go for the 20gb deal with £49.99 upfront and £42 monthly

Airtime - £30

Device plan - £12

The phone element of contract is £12/month x 24=£288

Get £50 off the upfront cost.Promo code: TA6FKBT413

- Claim a free Samsung speaker worth £99.99 when you buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge. You’ll get a leaflet with your phone, with instructions on how to claim.

Ends 11 Jan.

Step by step guide for this deal

1) Follow the get deal button, purchase the £49.99 + £12*24 tariff.

2) Receive your phone and sim card.

3) Put the sim card into your phone and go onto myO2 (app or website) and from there request the unlock code.

4) Call 202 from the same sim card as it will make things much easier, go straight to the I want to leave o2 department or something like that (I think it's thinking of leaving us? Press something) as that will connect you with the right people much quicker.

5) Tell the person you want to pay your device in full and cancel the airtime. They will ask you why, tell them you don't think the airtime is a good value for money, but you want to keep the phone because you think it's an outstanding value for money. They will ask you for card details, you tell those details and that's it, they cancel it for you in about an hour.

6) You own the phone from that point, assumed that you have done this straightaway, there won't be any charges, otherwise you will have to pay as much airtime as you have used.

7) Unlock code will come through in about 2 to 48 hours

Thanks to chenzz for the code

Distance selling rules allow you to cancel within 14 days of contract regardless of any o2 contact terms. Consumer contacts (information cancellation and additional charges) regulations 2013 s30 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/3134/regulation/30/made o2 is only allowed to charge for services used not the full month if cancelling within 14 days for a service. The only reason you pay anything at all is that the regulations allow a service to be provided immediately if express permission is given by the consumer which o2 have likely cover in there terms and conditions. So in this case each day you fail to cancel the contract their would be a proportional charge of £1 each day. My advice is get the phone unlocked by requesting the unlock code and make sure the instant you do, cancel via phone/ email. At most you will pay £5 extra for the four days over Christmas. Also might be worth sending cancellation in writing recorded delivery quote your order and your rights under contract implied by the regs above after cancelling over the phone. If any of you guys want the template of my legal letter message me and I will forward when it's done. You could cancel debit credit/ cards and direct debits if paronoid o2 will try taking money after cancellation and payment for the handset. Please like this post so it gets to the top for others to see.

A family friend recently bought a car on PCP, it came with £2500 cashback on delivery of the vehicle. They then cancelled the PCP contract and paid off in full within 14 days (some legal right to cancel), they had to pay interest up until the point they cancelled but kept the £2500 cashback.

Applied for a credit card last week and got refused as credit record showed that they took out PCP finance and to date have not made a monthly payment (because they paid off in full), so unless the finance company correctly record you paying off the phone it will show on your record and affect any future finance you apply for until its cleared correctly from your file. Not saying 02 are bad at this but it can happen especially if you apply for further credit within a short period after cancelling this contract.

Anybody having problems with the speakers?
Mine shows that it has 75%ish (3/4) battery most of the time but it stops playing after few days of use. I thought the battery indicator is wrong and I plug it in to charge.
It begins charging and flashes the 3rd led indicator.
After charging for few hours, I try to turn it on, it doesn't turn on. This happened few times now, last time about a month ago. What I did then was to leave it on charge over night and the next day it turned on.

Do you think they'll be able to offer me a repair or replacement if I took it to a Samsung store?
Who?

O2 is awful. Returned a phone to them 1st week of Jan as it was faulty. Still waiting for my refund after being told by 6 different people that they have processed the refund. Shocking customer support especially from the uk based advisors. The last two days ive actually got somewhere with a.. South African based manager. Beggers belief.

O2 have the most incompetent billing and customer service I have ever known. I cancelled the Airtime but they billed me £30. I contacted them and they confirmed the error.......and then took the £30 anyway. They then billed me another £570. I contacted them again. They confirmed the error......and then took the £570 anyway. Today my account is showing they owe me £30.......so they sent me an email saying that if I didn't pay the £30 THEY OWE ME within four days they would add £3.50 to the debt!!!

I'll get the issue cleared up then make a complaint to the financial ombudsmen. A company like O2 shouldn't be making such potentially financially catastrophic errors. I would suggest everyone else who has been victim of 'a system error' make such a complaint because the notion of a system error is hilarious.

Systems don't make errors, there is either human error which could either be incompetence or malicious. Or the 'system' is fundamentally designed incorrectly which is still human error.

I think it is time someone could take these cowboys to court. They did this to me last year. Actually they never sent me a final bill, and my online account was showing error all the time. Only to discover 4 months later that they took £600 termination charge which they shouldn't.
BigYoSpeck
21 Jan 17 #577
Well, I've had the expected balls up in billing. The first bill was for £23.58 and I was advised the credit would be in the second bill for the pro-rata difference.

A second bill received today which sure enough contained a credit for -13.87, but also an early termination charge of £424.23 as well. I've been on live chat who apologised that it was a system error, they would submit a form to cancel it and it should be cancelled within 4-5 working days. So people need to keep a close eye on this.

I don't know about the £99 price, but I think the speaker is quite decent performance-wise, particularly for its slim form factor. It's never going to power a house/outdoor party, but if you like traveling light it could be ideal. I think it may have superb battery life. I played music at about 30% volume for 8 hours straight last night and battery indicator is still above 75%. The kickstand is definitely handy, and the powerbank and waterproofing may prove useful for travels too. Also, the sounds it makes upon connection/power are actually pleasant and less obnoxious than a lot of other bluetooth speakers out there. The mic isn't that great though.

Not even close. I don't really know typical pricing on Bluetooth speakers, and I guess the IPx7 rating probably bumps its value up a little. But it's not a high-quality device.

Speaker quality is better than a phone (especially the S7, gosh is that a poor speaker!) but it's not quite as good as my Dell Venue 11 speakers. The microphone is also low quality, lower quality than the phone itself, I wouldn't use it for skype or handsfree.

I won't complain at a free speaker I can take camping, but £99 is laughable

Just finished charging my one. Did a bit of testing and I can say that it's obviously better than listening from the phone's speaker but it could have been louder with more bass. But hey, it's a free speaker!
Also, it can be used as a juice box which is a handy little feature, though the battery in this speaker I believe is only 2,600 Mah so don't expect to get much charge from it.

Thanks for that, I think part of the issue was I was put through to customer services in South Africa (even though they are very nice!). They gave me a real run around and contradicted each other, even a supervisor! Better to redial and try again until you speak to someone in the UK as eventually only they were able to fix the billing issue and apologised for the poor customer service

14 Jan 17 2 #558
I spoke to someone who was able to get the final bill generated which appeared in myO2 with a credit balance and gives you a link to request the credit to be made to your bank account. For that reason I'd advise against cancelling the direct debit. I think it's just a matter of speaking to someone who knows what they're doing - another agent was telling me to cancel the direct debit and wait until another billing cycle in 3 weeks time but clearly that was poor advice.

14 Jan 17 #557
My final air time bill shows closing balance of £ 2.91 but they took £30.00 by direct debit. I chased them on Monday, the chat staff are useless - computer says no syndrome!. But when I rang them, they said that they will send the difference to my bank ac as it was taken by direct debit & to wait 5 working days. I will check my bank ac on Tuesday, if the it is not been refunded then I will chase them again!

I paid off and cancelled my contract the day I got the phone - later got charged £30, was going to call them up and complain, but a couple of days later, I checked my O2 and it now shows i'm owed £23.

I did the same, I paid £345 yesterday, got my speaker claim validated in 30 mins, awaiting the unlock code.
I got charged £21.50 for the direct debit and £15 for the airtime today, so I am assuming I shall just not cancel the direct debit, but just wait a few days and get the refund?
Darkfrost
14 Jan 17 1 #555
@tobtan - wouldn't recommend cancelling the direct debit, as you probably do owe them a few £ for the day or so you would've had the contract active for.

I paid off and cancelled my contract the day I got the phone - later got charged £30, was going to call them up and complain, but a couple of days later, I checked my O2 and it now shows i'm owed £23 - see http://i.imgur.com/rCqtXVb.png

Due to O2's ineptitude this has been a bit more hassle than I hoped for but still a great deal. They took £35 from my account and in the process of trying to get that sorted out they generated a bill with early termination charges amounting to over £700. Chat agents were generally hopeless and advice was regularly contradictory or just plain wrong. Have just arranged for refund of £32.74 and speaker claim has been approved.

I picked mine up from the store so I dont have a despatch note. Both times they are requesting documents with the IMEI number which I dont have, I managed to get on live chat and the person forwarded me the chat via email with her mentioning my order number and IMEI number. So I took a screen of that and submitted again. What I dont understand is why their system saying it has sent me the proof of purchase but I've reuested it 4 times now to 4 different email and non of them got it (checked spam folder). I just hope everytime I get rejected my 7 days gets extended so when the proof of purchase via post get to me I can submit that instead.
BigYoSpeck
13 Jan 17 #549
It is possible to have your claim validated without anything further from o2. When I made the initial claim I included a scan of the despatch note which has the imei number on and the CCA agreement PDF o2 emailed when I first placed the order.

Samsung did come back asking for a screenshot of the order confirmation email as they can't accept the despatch note.

It needs to be the 'Thank you for the order' email with the following details in it:

I took a screen grab of that and got a validation email almost straight away. No need for anything further from O2.

Submitted my claim for the speaker yesterday with a photo of the despatch note and a copy of the CCA emailed to us. Just submitted my speaker claim, ordered online and I didn't wanna phone up to get a receipt with IMEI on so I attached the following:
- Photo showing both the "Thanks for your order" letter showing SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 with IMEI, and the FREE SAM LEVEL BOX SPEAKER on and the Final Phone Plan Statement on it, showing the price of the phone & that it was paid
- pdf copy of order confirmation email
- the document from my o2 -> my documents -> CCA Samsung Galaxy S7 32gb Black O2 Refresh

Got confirmation immediately after that it was recieved, and 40 mins later it was validated. (a few mins before midnight, how even? Why is anyone working then?)

But yeah, if anyone else is the same position, just send everything, works apparently :stuck_out_tongue:

For the speaker...send a screenshot of order confirmation email and photo of the invoice that is in the packaging as it has order number and imei on it. This should be enough. I also sent a screenshot of the imei on my phone just because Samsung were being very picky and asked me for it.

BigYoSpeck
12 Jan 17 #537
Just follow the exact instruction in the post. You need to put the SIM in the phone so that O2 can pick up the IMEI number being used then either through myO2 or via live chat request the unlock code.

After that call 202, the automated system asks you to say in a few brief words what you're calling for and just say, I want to leave O2.

You'll end up through to an agent and just tell them you want to pay off the device plan, and cancel the airtime. The guy I spoke with just said yeah no problem, asked me for card details to pay off the £288, then the airtime was cancelled by the next morning. My device unlock code came by email 2 days later.

Just a word of warning for anyone who's changed their theme before putting in the unlock code. On the theme I'm on when you put the new SIM in it comes up with two buttons, unlock and bypass. So I pressed unlock and it did nothing.

Turns out there is a numerical box to enter the unlock code in above the unlock button, that wasn't visible with the theme I was using so I'd assumed pressing unlock would as me for the code. It took a google to find a picture of the unlock screen without a non-standard theme.

Is it just minor cracks to the glass by the soft keys or has the screen cracked?

Has it affected it's usability?

I don't know anywhere that does it but I've watched youtube videos on tear down and repair for the S7, it's a terrble phone to repair. Taking the front glass off destroys the screen so the entire thing needs replacing which costs over £120 just for the part before you even have a repair bill. I'm also not sure if a repaired phone is still going to be water proof.

If you find anywhere keep us posted, but if it's minor you might be better living with it or selling the phone.

I had ordered on 22 dec, received on 23 dec at 9:15pm , & on 24 dec at 1:00pm I rang to cancel the air time after paying off for the device. I did not use any air time.
Has any one got a bill for this few days even though it was not used? & bill showing the date till end of 30 days (22 jan 17) even though the air time was stopped?

Speak to o2 about it, and say you shouldn't be charged. They'll say its an error on their side and they'll sort it out.
There were few other users who mentioned about getting early termination fee bill and they got it resolved by contacting o2.

It says this on the Terms and Condition:

18. If a Participant returns a Promotion Product after submitting a Claim, the Claim will be invalid and the Participant must immediately email [email protected] to cancel the Claim. The Promoter reserves the right to check with O2 whether a Promotion Product has been returned and, by submitting a Claim, the Participant provides consent to the Promoter to do so.

Will that apply to this situation with the o2 refresh?

Managed to get my airtime cancelled no problem whatsoever, the guy on the phone was super helpful and knew exactly that I did the deal just to get the handset and congratulated me on finding such a great deal! He sent me a bill for the 3 days I was technically connected (the handset was laying in store waiting for me for 3 days :disappointed: ) which came to £2.77 total for airtime. Phone's been paid off outright and I've got it unlocked no problem.

Submitted my claim for the free speaker now also.

So what's the best to do with direct debits set by O2 that they're going to use to take the final bill payment?
Should I let them take the payment and then call for (partial?) refund or better cancel it with my bank now?

Looks like the latter can affect the credit rating massively but it's not clear if it's true or not..

Probably when you click the link it will show up on the o2 website as where you came from....

The only way around this is some sort of redirect anonymiser link so the website you land on can't tell where you came from. HUKD may not want that as they probably receive referral fees for purchase made etc (they have to fund themselves somehow)

My first o2 refresh deal so I will share my experience...
Ordered phone on 23rd, was told it was "pending" and that they were doing a credit check and I would hear in 48hrs, didn't hear anything.

Rung the credit check department Boxing Day and they said "yes you have passed, the phone will be dispatched.

Phone arrived Wednesday but I was out until Thursday (today) inserted SIM, phoned o2, asked for an unlock code, they couldn't do it due to the phone not being registered on the network, same thing via "my o2" app, in the end I went on live chat, requested an unlock code and the guy said he would sort it for me.

After that I phoned o2 back to cancel the airtime, no problem, paid £288 with an AMEX card, told them I couldn't get a signal at work and it was no good, no questions asked, yep we will do that for you, said they would send some paperwork via email confirming.

Didn't receive any email so about 4 hours later I got back on live chat again, just to confirm it had been cancelled, yes that's fine, it will be terminated tomorrow (30th) - so I asked if I would be billed for 2 days, the answer came back "yes" no drama as the phone was cheap enough but we are all here to save money right? So I queried it.. he said the bill had been generated, £30 would leave my account 11th month and then I would be refunded at a later date, -minus the 2 days... after a bit of backwards and forward he told me to cancel my direct debit, and as soon as I get the final bill contact them and as a good will gesture the will write off the line rental for 2 days and they would zero the account, I took a screen shot and that is that.

Whilst I was on the live chat I received the email with the unlocking code, did it, stuck my 3 SIM in and am now using an unlocked S7, with a 3 SIM only deal, for the grand total of £288.

I did all this while I was working so the hassle factor was minimal and I spent about 10 minute on live chat, and about 10 minutes on the phone and that was that.

Nice deal OP, thanks again

29 Dec 16 #431
I asked to pay off my device first and the operator asked me "after you paid off your device, do you want to cancel your airtime as well?". I said yes and he did took down my card details for payment for the phone and cancelled the airtime plan straight after.
greenday10111
29 Dec 16 #430
I'm in a similar boat, my bill is £21.50, I paid off the device plan (£288) then asked to cancel the airtime contract, explained that i'd only had the phone for 2 days and didn't want to pay for a full months bill as i've only had the phone 2 days, very little data (if any) has been used and no minutes or texts have been used and he mentioned something about a credit bill. I'm hoping I just get charged for what I used and the £21.50 doesn't get taken at all that saves me messing about trying to get it back.

All in all good deal just wish I'd jumped on it while they had to £50 off upfront code going but with the free speaker I can sell works out cheaper than anywhere else for a brand new unlocked s7.

29 Dec 16 #429
Right, hope this makes sense...!

I just spoke to a lovely O2 customer services lady.
Unfortunately the first month advance £30 bill will be taken by DD in early January as the final bill of the used airtime allowance is generated 14 days after the disconnection date (which falls into mid January).
The final bill should be a credit bill as you've paid £30 already (minus how may days you used the SIM) which you will need to call them to fill in a refund form for you and this will take 10 days to be put back in your account.
Seems ok, but a bit of a faff!!
greenday10111

I'm started to panic tbh, everything that's in their 'change your mind' policy and the device plan cca seems to imply that I need to either return the device or pay off the device and the sim price. Can anyone give me a step by step on what to say and some legal terms if need be?

I am unsure but I don't think it does. The ebay method provides you with the unlock code that you will obtain from o2 anyway.
Since you are not rooting your phone, you warranty should be valid. Usually any problems, you could take it to Samsung store directly.

looks like managed to cancel the airtime from midnight tonight however the guy tried to convince me I have to give 30 days notice and pay for 30 days of airtime that I don't use or alternatively return the phone back to them.
interestingly the person I spoke to before Christmas told me the airtime will stop on the 1st of January.

I'd expect they have specific rules about cancelling the airtime within 14 days of purchase and that it can be done immediately, but it's just total mess (unless they're trying to squeeze as much as possible from you before you leave).

Use this link here provided by jammycal. You should get the unlock code fairly quick. I got mine within a minute!
Then when you used the code to unlock, you can call up o2 using 202. The customer service person will understand what you want when you say you want to pay off the device

When trying to request an unlock code, that part of the my o2 site just says:

Am I okay to cancel the airtime plan now, or should I wait?

They accept credit cards and American Express payments on the phone so if you want to get some extra money back choose a payment method that suits you. I used a 1.5% cashback card meaning £4.32 back, not a lot but it helps.
Also tracking worked on cashback site when I bought it and it's £80-90 so I'll sit tight and potentially get Uber Uber lucky.
Even at £288 this is a fantastic deal.
In terms of comparison with the Lenovo ZUK Z2 I'm gradually noticing things that are better about the Samsung. The screen really pops on it and the sound quality is fantastic. The performance is faster on the Samsung but I think it's because I haven't switched over to the Indian ROM on my Lenovo.

I rang them from the phone (202) to ask them to provide the unlock code.
Then made a few calls (via 202 )& hanged up to activate the online O2 a/c.
Then rang 202 to cancel the airtime & pay off for the phone.
It got disconnected the following early morning.
The code was sent via email.
The unlock code came the same day- was told that it could take up to 10 days.

I read through the comments and just to confirm, I have a few queries.

So I order the phone, wait for it to arrive. Then request the unlock code or could I request the unlock code before I receive my phone?
Then I cancel the airtime plan and pay off device plan after getting the unlock code? If I was to cancel before, how will they send me my unlock code?

Thanks in advance.

it's a easy process as vassay4u has explained. make a call so sim is registered and shows to 02 that it's been activated in the new handset. request unlock code online via o2 guru should not take more then 5 mins. you will receive unlock code via email within 2 hours up to a week ( I've always got mines within a day or 2 max) as holiday period may take longer.
once you have requested unlock code online ur safe to call 202 from the new sim and ask operator you want to cancel airtime. they will ask u to pay £288 and they will ask u when u want the contract to end. at this point I always say asap. u pay the £288 and job done relax and enjoy ur new phone. just keep an eye on ur bills for next month but you can always get the refund back and worse case scenario u can always get a compensation from o2 if they mess you around.

23 Dec 16 1 #243
I had same issue (mine came this morning) in that via the app and website it says information not available.

Not sure if it will speed the whole unlock process up but even when MyO2 was updated with phone details it didnt show the IMEI details or allow you to request an unlock code. However if you have phone (or you go via chat online they will tell you your IMEI number) you can complete the online form to request an unlock code https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Once the details are on the app/website I will also request from there as well, as not 100% if that form is current etc but hoping the requests go to the same place...

Will wait until end of today before ringing to cancel though in hope options appear on MyO2.

Thanks to the OP. Ordered last night and picked up from store this morning. Phone was supplied already unlocked and without o2 branding or any bloatware. Phoned o2 and paid the £288 (they confirmed I won't be charged any Airtime, and if I am I will just get it refunded anyway). Happy days!!!

Ordered last night and came 11.50am. Will ebay my mint boxed S6 for min £200 net plus speaker for £30. So annual update is £58 (plus a lot of messing around). Did this for my other halves S7 in August, was billed for full 24 months airtime on cancellation, and was refunded in November. My tip is to monitor your bill online as you will see this coming. They credited the amount back to my account within weeks, but it took a couple of attempts to get it paid. Use chat and ask for copy of it to be emailed to you. Good luck.

23 Dec 16 #227
This was something I witnessed in store when browsing last week. I then had a chat with one of the store members who advised of their process.

You can just return once you have everything in place, though AFAIK with the OP3 there was no need as the phone is unbranded and unlocked by default.

The_Hoff
23 Dec 16 #225
I've seen this done in store with someone buying a OP3 last week. Didn't seem to encounter any issues.

Dealing instore is ALWAYS better than some faceless call centre, where "Debbie" won't be available, and you'll be listening to hold music for 3 hours while they try to "help" you.
Lucky88
23 Dec 16 1 #224
Yeah that is what I meant you got to wait for that to update. I got mine @ 11 am. I sent a text from the phone and called 202 a couple of times and hanged up. To try and speed up the device being registered on their network still hasn't. Whatever you don't cancel the airtime until your phone shows up in app.

If you cancel a direct debit and they try and take funds they could place a marker on your credit file for a missed payment even if you have cancelled it's always best to wait for them to tell you to cancel the DD set up before you do it off your own back. Just saves the hassle of trying to sort your credit file

margamboy
23 Dec 16 1 #203
For the hassle I still don't think these deals are worth risking personally, my time is worth more than spending a few hours a day on the phone to 02, chasing payments and sorting my credit file if things go really bad. Some may feel different but if you want this particular phone and don't want to risk the above then news coming through seems to be that Samsung are slashing prices of the S7 by £100 across the pond and even though unlikely to happen here inevitable it will filter through especially with the S8 getting close to launch.
Cheap_n_Nicety
23 Dec 16 1 #202
I've said this a million times and done it three. If they take the full airtime don't even bother calling them. Call your bank instead and get a refund under the direct debit guarantee. It takes about 24 hours to be returned, from memory.
jammycal
23 Dec 16 #201
This is interesting as others specifically state to delete it to avoid getting the charges after cancelling? What is the reasoning behind leaving the DD setup?

mkh93
23 Dec 16 #200
Also from experience, there is no extra charge to pay if you play it right, even if they charge you airtime for 24 months , often they do, they will refund you in full. May take weeks to clear. But Do NOT cancel the direct debit.

Just a quick note. I have done loads of these and more likely than not they take the first bill payment out of airtime even if you cancel so make sure you check your direct debit. When this happens cancel that direct debit and contact them. They will in turn refund that amount back within 2 weeks. But make sure you keep the phone number handy as they wil need it to check there records. Like I have said this has happened nearly every time to me bar a few times it did not.

Great price, but in literally every o2 refresh deal thread on here it seems to go wrong for some people and I am not up for being one of those people. I also don't like the sound of what it may do to your credit score as well.

23 Dec 16 1 #162
Go in with the mindset that you'll need to deal with this and it won't be as stressful. At the end of the day it's a current flagship phone for £288 with follow up phone calls (if required) to sort refunding payment errors. One caveat would be if you're about to rely on your credit rating then I would read this advice.

Bought the Samsung A3 2016 on refresh and they initially billed me for £171, even after a phone call to say they would not take the direct debit, they still did. If you know about this pattern upfront it's not that bad imo (unless you really don't like dealing with call centres).

I've done this five times and three times it went fine but twice got clobbered with 24 x airtime as a one off payment via the direct debit by mistake even though the online billing system was showing as £0.

Its happens without warning several weeks after you think you've got it all sorted. Seems to be pot luck whether the person processing the device plan payoff does the right stuff on the system to prevent this

For this deal that's £720. O2 have no mechanism to reverse it and it takes 3-4 weeks to get your money back.

Additionally it hits your credit score significantly as others have already said.

Samsung's have brilliant screens but I've owned s4,s5,s6 before and the reception and call quality has been rubbish in all of them.

with o2 refresh monthly cost is split into two parts: device and airtime. in case of the £42/month the cost would be £12/month for device and £30 for airtime. so when you cancel your airtime you will only have to pay for the device (am not sure if you have to pay in full but most people including myself paid in full last year)

Thank you OP.
I have ordered one. I thought I had chosen Gold, but somehow I must have ticked the box for PINK !
I will use a case which should hide most of the pink!!!
I hope it works out to unlock it & cancel the air time without hassle as I am on VM sim only contract.
VashTech
23 Dec 16 #106
I don't see why this would affect your credit score. Technically you would have applied for contract, cancelled it within the terms of the contract. You would not miss out on any further payments, nor would you be late in any future payments. It should appear on your credit file for Month 1 (January 2017) and it should show up as 'CLOSED' in Month 2 (February 2017). If for any reason, it affects your score, it would just be a matter of the fact that you opened an account and closed it within a month, but it you have a couple of other telecoms, house bills, banks, it should balance everything out a couple of months later. Missed payments, late payments and defaults are certainly not going to hit your credit file if you cancel this contract.

7 units of jam.

It's a bit of a difficult one to answer. In terms of applying for a mortgage in a month then not greatly. If you have applied for 15 things in the last few months then perhaps not so great.

No reason they won't, even though your acceptance to the network is based on a deposit, you still get the same terms and thus entitlement to pay the handset cost in one go.

I get the message when I went to make payment:
Based on your credit history we need to take a deposit of £325.00. If you make all your payments for 3 months this will be automatically refunded. This deposit will be added to the card payment details you have already entered.

will I be able to get the this back when I phone them to say I want to pay the full device off. will they refund me the deposit aswell?

Cashback will only be paid on contracted devices if the plan is active for at least 6 months

O2 Refresh explained

O2 Refresh lets you change phones whenever you want. It works by splitting your bill into two parts: a Phone Plan and an Airtime Plan.

The Phone Plan is the cost of the phone
The Airtime Plan covers all your calls, texts and data
If you want to upgrade to the latest smartphone, all you need to do is pay off the Phone Plan, and you're free to upgrade while continuing to use your Airtime Plan.

Plus, if you decide to keep your mobile for longer than 24 months, we'll only charge you for your Airtime Plan – saving you money.

Everything else stays the same. You'll still receive free technical advice from our O2 Gurus, have free access to O2 wifi nationwide, and enjoy exclusive deals and discounts with O2 Priority.

iEimis to burns94
22 Dec 16 #29
I've taken out 3 refresh deals in the past, and never had any other credit loans before, my credit score dropped quite a bit. This is because refresh deals work like a loan on your credit file, and it creates 2 lines as well instead of just one.
iEimis
22 Dec 16 #28
God, this is tempting, lesson learnt, never buy phones on contract anymore especially with refresh deals, hopefully they don't close this out, obviously if they wanted they would of done it already.

Tempted by this, was looking for a OnePlus 3 but not keen on paying an extra £70 for the new model which doesn't seem to add too much extra.

Only concerns on the O2 Refresh deals are the comments around credit score that seem to pop up from time to time, and how many crappy O2 specific apps are on the phone. Anyone care to reassure me please?
