I've been looking for cheapish 1080p projector for a few weeks and this one has been on my shortlist, also posting as I'd appreciate any advice/feedback on it as I've never bought a projector before
This is at least £100 more everywhere else I've seen
Bright. 1080p resolution. Works for both business and home entertainment. Short lag time for gaming. Full 3D functionality with video devices. Doesn't show many rainbow artifacts with either static data images or color video.
Full details:
Designed for effortless performance, in a wide range of environments, the BenQ TH670 is a big screen performer.
1080p for Full HD resolution
The perfect resolution for Blu-ray and gaming, 1080p Full HD gives noticeably more detail than standard HD resolution. Suddenly, you'll see texture in the grass on the pitch, subtle detail in wildlife documentaries and a whole new depth of image. The larger the screen and the closer you sit the greater the benefit, making 1080p more impressive on a projector at home compared to a TV set.
Super-bright for easy all-day viewing
With an outstanding brightness figure of 3000 ANSI Lumens, the TH670 not only offers bright and vivid colour but is also able to be used in many lighting conditions. Even during daylight conditions with curtains or blinds open, the TH670 can produce a watchable and detailed picture - perfect for the big sports event on a weekend afternoon.
Optional 3D
Impressive as the BenQ TH670 is in 2D, it's only when you take advantage of the optional 3D system that the picture becomes truly immersive. Just add the optional BenQ 3D glasses, connect up to a suitable source and enjoy 3D images that are every bit as bold as at the cinema.
Keystone correction for ease of installation
The BenQ TH670 offers the advantage of Keystone Correction. Usually only available on more expensive projectors, this feature offers great benefits when installing. With the ability to digitally shift the image by +/- 30 degrees in the vertical plain, the TH670 can be fitted in more awkward locations and also enables a wider choice of screen options.
USB to charge your device in use
With a 1.5A USB Type-A connection you can power your mobile device without worrying about it running out of battery. Ideal for presentations or streaming home movies or sports, this USB will keep your smartphone or tablet charged up

Agreed. I bought an Optoma 141x (DLP) and I was horrified by the noise compared to my old Panasonic LCD projectors.

had a benq w100 for years. great projector. my advice would be check throw distance to see how big the picture will be where you want to put it. ceiling mount if you can. it is much better than getting it out whenever you want to use it. enjoy.

The cheap little beamers are now all using LED light sources, as are the high end machines. In the next couple of years, mid range projectors will switch over too and a quite machine with a nice bright 120" image will be practical at a reasonable price.

Just how loud are we talking? Louder than a PS4?

I have 141x for 3 years now and can't complain... Yes it is a bit noisy, but all depends what temperature in the room. Even with the noise it does not affect movie watching or gaming on playstation... 3D works great on movies, but with playstation could not get it going... Any DPL link glasses work great. One thing I know for sure that I wouldn't get a projector which is below 3000lumen!
So this BENQ should be quite good for most people.

Is the benq w1070 better than this?

From what I've read, I think the simple answer is 'yes' due to couple of extra features, lens shift being the main one. But that's only a benefit if your set up requires it, as far as I can tell. However I haven't seen anyone say that the W1070 has a better picture or is much quieter. Also, the 1070 apparently suffers from bad light leak in the unit itself, which can be distracting depending on where the unit is when you watch something

You just possibly saved me from taking the plunge too soon. I've been itching to buy a projector for several years now, and am seriously tempted by this though.
