Hmm...I wonder if John Lewis can price match this as they have 3 years guarantee instead of 1 ? Anyone know if JL price match Amazon

It'll be fine, whist these chips are branded as i7s they're still only dual-core HT chips the same as their weaker siblings, such as the i5-6200u.
(I'm assuming by "i7-6500" Amazon actually mean "i7-6500u")

It's only a dual core CPU, and since it's 6th gen and has a lower power consumption it doesn't get hot. There are quad core i7 laptop CPUs, the i3,i5,i7 monikers are just a marketing joke these days. Here's hoping AMD shake things up in January, with their SR3, SR5, SR7 CPUs and their new APUs, the AMD hype train has a 100% derailment sucess rate so far, so based on that I don't hold up much hope, but then again I do hope because it's hype and one day it has to come true surely, even AMD can't beat the law of averages can they?

The temperature it reaches will depend on the system cooling but as it's a 15W TDP chip it will never put out much heat. The quad core i7s tend to be 45W TDP in comparison.

looks that way, hot from me and ordered before the price went up. Still a bit gutted I missed the Dell deal earlier this week, but this looks good for an i7 - Thanks OP

Lol- it's not a patch on the Dell deal, but not a bad consolation prize I guess!
