They are cheap and relatively powerful.
They are built as an ancillary to your main computer but will in fact be more than adequate for 90% of users.

Ease of maintenance. Keep them selves patched. Can be reset easily if an issue occurs.

Using the flipbook version right now, fantastic little thing. C201pa is a bargain at this price.
Perfect for browsing and movies etc. Which is what 95% of people use laptops for anyway.

I have yet to use a chromebook style device that can handle watching movies without the constant stutter and lag.
Even opening up office online lags these things.
These are great for 1 purpose and 1 purpose only.
Browsing and researching information on the internet.
If you are the type of person who needs to do alot of reaearch or enjoys searching online and general shopping these are great and the fact you cant watch movies and get distracted is a positive with these.
Please someone upload a video of youtube playing a basic 720p video on one of these without stutter or lag and I will eat humble pie.
It all depends on whether you think its worth the money.
I do own a chromebook and use it for research and for this sole purpose they are great as that what they are designed for.

Are you sure it's not just your Internet? Pretty sure this would handle a 720p video... This guy was expecting it to lag but it handles YouTube and other tasks just fine: https://youtu.be/7f5TOp4lmzE

Here is my experience with my old Samsung CB.
Note that I'm on Virgin Media "VIVID 200" broadband ... super fast!
Youtube & Netflix ... without lag or stutter. I watch Netflix on it everyday.
1080p live football streaming [via HDMI to my 4K Tv] ... without lag or stutter.
I just watched a 99p rental from the Play store without any lag or stutter. That was at SD.

woah, hold your horses there boy, not a chance that these struggle with video playback, I use ours daily for YouTube and even stream mkvs from my nas, most of which are 1080p, this is a very decent bit of kit

I regularly watch Netflix on my two year old HP Chromebook with no lag.

i constantly use mine with Plex at 1080p and it never lags, sounds like an internet issue rather than a Chromebook issue

i use my ancient c720 and it plays you tube 720p video smooth with no lag, with no problems. I think your getting confused with your internet connection. I'm not even on fibre broadband and it runs fine. I'm sure many Chromebook users here will agree for streaming videos, Chromebooks handle videos with ease.

I have this model. It is completely fine for 720p videos (i stream movies a lot) and documents (i'm constantly writing up essays and lab work). However, i have the 4gb model so this model may lag if there are too many tabs open at once. There is slight lag when opening large documents but it's nothing major

You mention your lab work, is it animal testing judging by the username?

I watch YouTube, Netflix etc all of the time on mine and never have any problems, and that's on a 2gb ram model.
