Make sure you know when buying they are battery operated. Bought these yesterday and didn't realise so need to go get 3 x AA batteries.

I know people aren't stupid but it didn't cross my mind they may need batteries.

Battery operate lights on a timer are great, I'd never go back to mains lights . I use rechargeable batteries on mine.

For those who got the Nectar points offer which was posted on here yesterday you can get these lights from the Argos store on Ebay as click and collect

How does the timer work? I don't see any dials or buttons for setting time?

They have a timer built in. When you turn them on they will stay on for 8hours and then turn themselves off for 16 hours.

I have some similar ones and they are really quite clever... just press the on button at the time I want them to go on and then just leave them to it until after Christmas. They automatically turn themselves off after a while and then back on again at the same time every day until manually turned off. Dont know if these work the same, but the controller looks very similar and so much easier than fannying around with the mains ones!

(reading the Q&A for these someone has written it comes with timer included, so its looking promising these work that way)

Apparently you switch them on and they'll stay lit for 8 hours from that point. Then off for 16.
So the same pattern each day.

I bought these yesterday and so glad as I was trying to get them the previous day at £7.49. However I do not see a function to set it up on the timer unless it is a set timer from when they get switched on. But still a bargain either way.

Battery lights are never as bright as mains powered and that's even when the batteries are brand new, after a few days you'll hardly see the lights.

They are really small bulbs but sem bright enough. My daughter bought the smaller size and her tree is lit up like Blackpool.

Rechargeable batteries probably best for these lights.

I think I will use these in my Cat D car my neighbours always tell me it's an eye sore and to sell it. I'm sure this is going to make them very happy. :-)

Have these around our tree, last year i got told off for not turning the tree lights on every day before her indoors came home with these i dont have to worry anymore.

We have several sets of battery operated lights and as Poundland sell packs of 15/18 it's a no brainer. We change them weekly.

OOS in norn iron it would appear :disappointed:

This might sound really thick, but how are you supposed to keep the batteries dry outside. I know they'll be in the plastic covering but is this enough to protect from snow and rain etc.

There are 4 screws that keep the case together with a rubber seal all the way round. They should be fine.

I know yeah...I have to either
(a) walk to the end of my garden, unscrew the case and take the batteries out (most likely in pouring rain with no torch and a steak knife to undo the screws) take them inside and charge them, take them back, blah blah blah

They are great, look good also no more plugs in sockets for me. Got a grandson toddling about and anything that's dangerous he seems to go for so battery operated fits the bill.

Would have liked some to brighten up my desk at work.

Bought two of the multi coloured yesterday. They are very bright. Was going to put a set on my indoor Christmas tree but on my days off would want the lights on all day and evening so 6 hrs would not be enough. Ideal for outside though.

Took my 4 lights back for a refund. It only stays on for 8 hours. I put it on at 5 pm and damn things switches itself off at 2 am,. I want it to stay on until 6 am, plus as it's battery operated after a few days they light is not as bright as when a new battery is used. From now on I will stick with mains operated outdoor lights as they are more reliable.
