Was looking for a batch of batteries....that will power my dancing Xmas santa and Snowglobe. Not to mention that cheap tack...that I bought my kids.
Seemed a good deal.
Maplins also selling through amazon.
but due to the whole tax avoidance and general anti xmas giving attitude, decided to buy direct from maplins.

I got a pack of 16 AA's from poundland. So giving you 96 batteries for £6. Been using these Kodak ones for a few years now, they seem OK - especially for toys. Don't mind how often new batteries are needed at that price.

You can get a LOT of rechargables for this price and will last infinitely longer. 7 day shop's own brand are cheap and quite durable for the cash.

wilkos seem to have Zinc Chloride batteries on there which are mega cheap but looking online, Zinc Chloride have half the energy density so last half the time perhaps?

if these batteries have to be inserted in the danger zone as indicated it's lucky their AA's and not those big square mothers.

The reviews on Amazon and maplins site says they perform very well. Ive looked at some of the reviews on the wilko ones and they are not very good.

I bought 3 multi packs of Sony batteries from poundland yesterday, when I got home and checked my receipt one pack went thru with 50p off so there's a deal there somewhere either but 2 get 3rd for 50p or buy one get one half price. I paid no attention to shelf pos. But 30 batteries for £2.50 felt pretty bargainous

But they are just zinc batteries and only suitable for low drain devices.
Same price as Ikea Alkalisk (10 for £1.50 which is the 'gold standard' for mAh/£).
Throw in free delivery & cashback on top makes this a hot deal, even if you do have to buy in bulk.
Though I'd be more confident if the page explicitly stated they were LR6. (:edit: on closer inspection the 2nd photo does show LR6)
Also nobody has pointed out the inconsistencies in the product page:
- Picture shows 8x12 = 96 batteries, not 100.
- Description states "Pack Size: 40"
I hope it's just Maplin's incompetent product listing.
I wouldn't buy batteries from Poundland! For what you're buying, they're a rip-off.
The £1 for 10+ batteries are s**tty R6's (Zinc-Carbon); poor capacity & terrible performance in high drain usages.
Please don't try to recharge an LR6 battery in one of those; LR6 batteries are NOT rechargeable.
Stick them in one of those and you'll just rupture the cell & cover everything in corrosive electrolyte (Potassium Hydroxide).
The listing clearly states what the charger is for; NiMH (HR6), and NiCd (KR6) batteries only.

And it also clearly states that it is able to charge single use Alkaline batteries (up to 10 times)
Sadly Ikea put them up to £1.50 for 10 (instead of a quid) but still the best bang for your buck

I usually buy recharables and have over 30 of them but i am sick and tired of them not working in certain devices (due to the 1.2v vs 1.5v) I have several devices that are all dull because they dont have enough voltage.

Poundland batteries are getting a slating, but my little lad's toys are all powered by them. Vtec Toot Toot's - he has loads of them and they take 2 at a time. I don't seem to change them often at all. For what I use them for, they are great. All our led torches are using them. I can't remember changing the batteries in them.

I kind of agree, I tend to use rechargeable where I can in frequently used things like bike lights, Wii remotes and cameras etc, but for kids toys which you tend to just fit and forget I use cheap alkaline, I got a bit fed up with my other half giving the kids toys away with rechargeable batteries still inside too!

Not sure if serious? You'd believe an eBay seller with relatively low feedback over every other source? :/

I wouldn't let a handful of unreliable pleb reviews colour your opinion one way or the other; either work off objective benchmarks ( http://www.batteryshowdown.com ), or accept that all LR06 batteries are much of a muchness & simply buy the cheapest/most convenient (or buy rechargeables if they fit your use case)
My IKEA doesn't sell them anymore just rechargeable ones. Ordered ta

All alkaline batteries leak chemicals into the atmosphere. That's one reason to buy rechargeables. Rechargeables rarely leak. Incidentally, the leaking chemical from alkalines can cause respiratory problems in some people. I know this because I suffer from it. If your kids have respiratory problems during sleep then get rid of all alkaline batteries from their room and beyond and see if their condition improves.
