Are you referring to my post? :smiley: its ok i went got Mi5. I stupidly cracked the Note 5 screen today so after having a look at replacement screens I've opted for Mi5 (which was £50 cheaper than the bloody Note 5 screen!)

​After a little investigation, it looks like they are essentially the same, but the global version has the Rom installed at the factory, and the international version is the China version that has the global Rom installed by the vendor before shipping I'm happy for someone to shed more light.

​As far as I know, the international version has Play store etc pre installed. The Global edition has the global Rom, which contains Google play store and services etc. Also, it is CE marked. Global will receive OTA updates, while I'm not sure about the international version.

Does anyone know, or can explain, the difference between international edition & global edition?

It's pretty massive, a tight fit in my jeans pocket and makes bending over difficult etc. You'll struggle to get it out of your pocket when sat down. You can't onehand it either, have to use it more like a tablet. I do really like it, but it's huge :smile:

Same here, arrived this morning! Very impressed with the phone so far, apart from the fact that UK doesn't appear under Locale selection, so I had to choose India (not sure what this affects exactly).

As I had a bit of a Barney with geekbuying regarding length of dispatch time I asked if they could declare it lower..... I only paid £17.... so not sure how much they declared at as it wasn't states on front of the parcel

been using it for almost last 24 hours and all is good so far. Like the Qualcomm 3.0 charging, you don't get the fast charger with it but can pick up a "named" charger for just over a tenner so worth doing.

mine came via DHL. So left HK Friday and arrived today... so can't help you on that front I'm afraid.

Yes. I ordered on the 25th November and the status was stuck at processing on geekbuying website for a long while and then it got stuck on "information received" on the tracking website. Hopefully now it will be with me in a few more days.

I ordered on 2nd for DHL delivery and it was sent on 12th.... apart from after many an email it's not been sent yet......

Geekbuying insisted it was shipped and DHL tracking was slow to update because they are so busy.... but after constantly hassling them they finally admitted that it's been shipped from them and at a logistics centre. ... allegedly waiting on DHL to collect as there's no room on the planes lkl

They kinda come a cropper when I told them that DHL tracking worked in real time with no issues and that it would only take 2 days to reach me from Hong Kong.

Mine got shipped on the 7th of December, however on their tracking website it still says -
"Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)"

​Got to agree. I have the Mi4 in white, and I've never noticed the black border.

I thought that before I bought a white Xiaomi phone but in actual use, you don't notice it. I've never been distracted by it once in all the time I've used the phone.

As this is the Mi5 model, expect to find it crammed full of Chinese spyware :wink:

i paid for a black one for around £240, they took the money - said they didn't have it - offered this one in white (without price difference) and when I said no communication went dead. Now have had to open paypal dispute - be warned.

He won't be charged customs, no one was. They put it down as a gift and the value is put at $20.

Ordered :laughing:. Showing as £174.96 on my online banking which included shipping insurance (not sure if I actually needed it). Hopefully won't get done by customs tax/VAT but even with that on top it'll be a cracking deal compared to other similar spec phones in the UK. Shame it's white but plenty of covers available online for a couple of quid.

The missing Band 20 is a thing though if you're on o2 - it's a must for 4G. Also Band 20 is used by Three and Vodafone so depending on your area you might not get 4G either. If you can live without 4G or you're on EE it's a nice spec'd bit of kit. If it hasn't had some dodgy rom installed. Insist on a sealed box.

I got the Mi Max 3GB/64GB from AliExpress, arrived this week, it was a tossup between the Mi5 and that - loving it so far, it's got the white front & gold back, and until you posted this I'd not really noticed the black border around the screen. And now I can't unsee it. Thanks :disappointed:

Generally speaking though, you look at what's on the screen, and the rest of the phone body gets a bit ignored while reading emails/watching videos etc. If it's a dealbreaker, get the Mi Mix and be done with bezels forever, because that thing's mad.

XDA has several roms for z2, lots are unofficial, though, but it looks well supported. It's cheaper, too. But it's a tough call

I haven't got personal experience with the Z2 but I was thinking of getting it until the reviews/comments I read complained about bugs in the OS, no further support/upgrades, and no custom ROMs available.

Ordered a Redmi Note 3 Pro from geekbuying last week, took the spanish warehouse option, arrived in 4 days no problems. Ordering from the chinese site and using any premium delivery service will pretty much always get clobbered for VAT.

Cold for white and geekbuying.

That horrible black border around the screen on the white model must be why they're having to sell them off cheap.

Get the black one from banggood or perhaps Lenovo ZUK Z2 if you don't need nfc.

Haven't ever bought from Geekbuying but try posting on the Mi Max thread. Not sure if the comment link worked properly for you but it's comment #522 on that thread with the list of ones that have ordered/received, if you wanted to ask them specifically. Even though it might be a different phone (my Redmi Note 3 deal?) I would guess that it's still too big to fit through a letter box.

excellent spec phone, but vs redmi, no sdcard slot and smaller battery.

This is actually the first time I've seen him make the comment specifying that it is useless for him. Normally he implies it's useless for anyone in UK by saying it has no UK bands or that it's essentially a tablet which only works in India and China. Also his comments are usually more rude in the way he comes across with his "opinion".

stay away from geekbuying. Worst seller. I made the mistake and ordered a redmi note 3 from the, on the 31/10, the site showed there was stock, one month later, i am still disputing with paypal to get my money back, since nothing of course has been shipped till then. Be warned!

Had the 64gb model of this phone for about 2 months and it's an amazing phone for the price. Top spec and looks the business. I'm on three network and it works faultless on 4g so no worries there.

Absolutely outstanding price. You will not find a better phone for the money. I'm on EE and not having b20 doesn't appear to have been an issue for me
