Hi guys first post so please go easy. I called up John Lewis today and I told them about the HMV deal they said they will price match this. You can order before and they will refund the difference on Friday or you can fill in the form online about price match and they will refund you. Just a heads up as it can save time queueing up!
Currently priced at £42 on Xbox one and £41.99 on PS4
Free delivery £50+ but guaranteed stock, if your looking to order more than one copy this could be great!

So I didn't pick up my reserved copies of PS4 & Xbox One due to so many have difficulties getting the price match.
Got an email in November saying last chance to pick up or returned for a refund within 14 days, so I just left it waiting for the refund.
Low and behold, no refund has been issued when I've been checking over my bank statements. They are trying to track the parcel down at the moment.

Further update - They have refused pricematch.
See further email correspondence below.
Me: Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Would it be possible to check other claims from John Lewis for this item?
It would seem that John Lewis were aware of this price difference early on Friday morning when HMV had the item in stock.
It would be fair if there was a uniform company policy for price matching this item, but I am very concerned that in this case the decision to approve price match is at the discretion of the individual JohnLewis employee reviewing the case.
It also seems to depend upon the time that the application was processed, not when it was submitted.
I realise that the HMV deal was an exceptionally good price. JohnLewis usually have a very good reputation for price matching items.
Please could you discuss this matter with your senior manager?
Thankyou
Johnlewis: Thank you for your message.
Each price match request is looked at on a case by case basis. There are specific criteria that need to be met when the request is picked up and investigated.
If you place a price match request via the website it can take up to 24 hours for this to be picked up and answered.
If you contact us over the phone or in store we are sometimes able to honour the price match request immediately, again this is subject to meeting the criteria set in our Never Knowingly Undersold policy.
I've passed your feedback on to the relevant team.
If there's anything else I can help you with please get in contact.
Kind Regards
Jennifer Ferguson

Me: That is really disappointing.
It was in stock in the morning at HMV, but since it was a black Friday deal, it had probably sold out by mid afternoon when you rang to check.
It was widely advertised and was on their twitter.
Can you please reconsider this?
Many thanks for your help
John Lewis: We do advise that our price match claims have a response time and that is due to the volume and the fact that we have to investigate each claim, unfortunately the item was out of stock at HMV at the time of investigation for the price match which was still within the 24 hour period so we would not be able to match that price.
There is a lot of discussion about this on hotukdeals.com at the moment.
It would seem that JohnLewis have honoured this for their customers.
Can you explain the photo from the buyer in Edinburgh (see post 150)?
This is very disappointing – it would seem that in this case JohnLewis has been knowingly undersold.
JohnLewis: Thanks for your email.
I have investigated this further and read through many comments on the referenced thread. I can see that many customers have managed to receive this price match, however, our NKU policy operates on a singular basis.
A discount can only be offered if the competitor has it in stock and is still offering the promotion at the time of investigation. The customer you referred to on comment #150 had one of our partners investigate this immediately in-store, however when submitting a price match form over the internet, there is an inevitable delay.
I regret to inform you that we cannot offer a price match on this occasion.
Kind regards,
breeville

Sent a price match request at 20 minutes after midnight on black friday.
So if they had contacted HMV first thing, then stock would have been available.
This is the email reply that was sent at 28 minutes past 3 in the afternoon:
Thank you for your enquiry.
I have looked into your request and have found that HMV do not currently have stock of the Titanfall 2 PS4, therefore on this occasion I cannot match the price quoted by HMV.
We carry a wide range of lines, and the competitor has to have the line actually in stock (rather than available only to order) for us to match the price. For products that we deliver, we ask that the competitor is able to deliver in equivalent timescales to us, and on products that require delivery, we'll take delivery charges into account when comparing prices.
I am sorry I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion. If you require any further information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Initially refused to price match (long email blah blah) I complained, and shared the pic above from the edinburgh price match and just asked them to explain how it was fair for them NOT to price matach me. They choose instead to price match and refund to my credit card. Result. So a tortuous way around it, but yes, Titanfall for 19.99 and I didn't even leave the house

The problem is the offer has to be active when they can refund. HMV have said this deal will 100% be on but you can not get refund until hmv start the deal. Which sucks, but at least you get a guaranteed copy of the game without having to fight anyone. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok so i'll do an online order now for Waitrose collection tomorrow  I somehow feel they'll refuse the HMV price when I pick it up. E.g. if they knew the HMV price was £19.99, I shouldn't have to mention it at all as they should charge me less to begin with?

24 Nov 16#118
I would recommend not getting the item before Friday, if that makes sense. So either do delivery and call them up tomorrow or do click and collect. Collect the item tomorrow and request refund then.

From a Waitrose point of view, I could say that HMV are selling it for £4.99. Basically, I would have no idea if you were lying :stuck_out_tongue:

I traded in a phone and a 3DS XL and a load of old games price matched to CeX, but then had £350 and nothing to spend it on but overpriced games. Worst bit is, you can't use the credit online. I did the same as you - £50 on £55 of Xbox Live credit, then any time someone needs a gift card, I'll take their cash and use my credit. Good job I want a Nintendo Switch, really...

To be honest, if I was Amazon, I would drop it to £19.99 today and they would literally steal everyone's sales. As noone in their right mind would want to go into store tomorrow if they could order it online today. Plus it means prime users get it in time for the weekend.

Hi mate I asked them that they said if you have contacted them Friday or before they will allow the refund as they have a system which tracks competitors prices. Call them up (on Friday)or use the following link and fill out the form. It takes them 48 hours to reply to the form.
Good deal but only if you have a John Lewis store in your city. There is no store in Bradford, so no good for me.
Do they have a free delivery code? Cheers.

Yes, although you have to pay for postage too. Tbh i wouldnt be surprised if this game is 20 pounds everywhere on friday. I have seen it on a leaked shopto list as well (albeit without the confirmed price) and i know it hasnt been selling well. This kind of price will shift a few!

Maybe, but John Lewis have guaranteed the refund and it is in stock so I wouldn't risk waiting just in case they don't.

Also you can order now because John Lewis have a 28 day policy where if you find it cheaper they will refund the difference.

Nope they said online as well I've ordered mine online. They need proof that HMV will be selling it in their stores. But that's ok as there is proof everywhere
Opening post

Free delivery £50+ but guaranteed stock, if your looking to order more than one copy this could be great!

Got an email in November saying last chance to pick up or returned for a refund within 14 days, so I just left it waiting for the refund.
Low and behold, no refund has been issued when I've been checking over my bank statements. They are trying to track the parcel down at the moment.
What time do their phone lines open?
item had to be in stock during your call and its logged in their system
i ordered three copies and wqs refunded £66
See further email correspondence below.
Me: Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Would it be possible to check other claims from John Lewis for this item?
It would seem that John Lewis were aware of this price difference early on Friday morning when HMV had the item in stock.

Please see comment 270 which shows that HMV had stock at 3pm on Saturday

I am the one and only
It was in stock in the morning at HMV, but since it was a black Friday deal, it had probably sold out by mid afternoon when you rang to check.
Regards

Kind regards,
So if they had contacted HMV first thing, then stock would have been available.
Popped in to collect at lunchtime, after collecting went to the entertainment department desk and showed them HMVs email with offer, price matched without question :sunglasses:
either way, i wont collect it if they dont price match. auto refund after 7 days
"After contacting HMV I have been advised that Titanfall 2 will not be available for purchase at the price of £19.99 until Friday 25th November.
If you see HMV actually lower their price for this game, please contact me again so we can investigate.
Yours sincerely,
Jon"
Has anyone managed to get a reply from John Lewis who have purchased on line (for home delivery) and got the refund sorted?
What if the nearest HMV has no stock, they could refuse to price match.
Don't see why this is so hot tbh wiht no proof and no one able to buy at this price.
OP thanks, great first post x
Cheers
There's no way Amazon are not going to see an opportunity to swoop in and nick a load of sales from a smaller competitor.
To be honest, if I was Amazon, I would drop it to £19.99 today and they would literally steal everyone's sales. As noone in their right mind would want to go into store tomorrow if they could order it online today. Plus it means prime users get it in time for the weekend.
