Yes, although you have to pay for postage too. Tbh i wouldnt be surprised if this game is 20 pounds everywhere on friday. I have seen it on a leaked shopto list as well (albeit without the confirmed price) and i know it hasnt been selling well. This kind of price will shift a few!

Doesn't it also need to be in stock at HMV when John Lewis get round to checking, so just because it is sold at a reduced price does not guarantee they will price match.

Well i just received an email from hmv about the 20 pounds deal for titanfall so that will be the proof for john Lewis then!

Hi mate I asked them that they said if you have contacted them Friday or before they will allow the refund as they have a system which tracks competitors prices. They also said when you first let them know that's when they will look at pricing. An example is you fill out the form on Friday but they reply to you on Monday. You will get a refund as you submitted the form Friday. Hope that makes sense!

Amazing game. Shame it wasn't released a few months prior and more people would have purchased it. Out of the typical FPS this fall, this is my favourite and hats off to free future DLC!! That alone for me warrants people to talk about it and hopefully others will follow to a degree. Great campaign, best multiplayer and a complete package unlike the first one. Heat.

To be honest, if I was Amazon, I would drop it to £19.99 today and they would literally steal everyone's sales. As noone in their right mind would want to go into store tomorrow if they could order it online today. Plus it means prime users get it in time for the weekend.

Exactly why they are pulling this stunt and why it is instore only. Once you have customers in the store you can sell them stuff! And lets face it, hmv need all the extra business they can get.

If you tell them about HMV and how they are selling cheaper at the store they will refund there and then. You do not need to fill out form if you are going to C&C.

I never hold onto GAME credit anymore for the same exact fear, whenever I trade in I just buy Xbox credit instantly, it'll always get used eventually, better than potentially losing it.

I traded in a phone and a 3DS XL and a load of old games price matched to CeX, but then had £350 and nothing to spend it on but overpriced games. Worst bit is, you can't use the credit online. I did the same as you - £50 on £55 of Xbox Live credit, then any time someone needs a gift card, I'll take their cash and use my credit. Good job I want a Nintendo Switch, really...

From a Waitrose point of view, I could say that HMV are selling it for £4.99. There must be some checks in place - and Waitrose staff are probably not too knowledgable on the price match & - If I were them - tell you to contact Customer Services. Sadly I don't think any retailer running out of stock for Titanfall 2 will be an issue... But there are now 3 separate deals for Titanfall 2 in this weeks top 10 so that may change! Everyone gets one of the years best shooters for a bargain price.

You can spend online. You just need to get it put on a gift card. Scratch the back of the gift card and spend away. Done it loads of times.

So JOhn Lewis have replied to my online price match request. They've stated even though I've purchased on line I have to go to the local store and ask for the price match (which is a pain as the store is 30 miles away!).

Would you strongly recommend buying for click & collect with Waitrose NOW as opposed to waiting for tomorrow? Or best to go for delivery? I'm not fussed re: charges as I'll get a couple. I presume you can price match for 2?

I would recommend not getting the item before Friday, if that makes sense. So either do delivery and call them up tomorrow or do click and collect. Collect the item tomorrow and request refund then.

Ok so i'll do an online order now for Waitrose collection tomorrow :smiley: I somehow feel they'll refuse the HMV price when I pick it up. E.g. if they knew the HMV price was £19.99, I shouldn't have to mention it at all as they should charge me less to begin with?

The problem is the offer has to be active when they can refund. HMV have said this deal will 100% be on but you can not get refund until hmv start the deal. Which sucks, but at least you get a guaranteed copy of the game without having to fight anyone. :stuck_out_tongue:

John Lewis aren't price matching HMV online and will only do a local price match through your local store by calling them or visiting. Shiva has spoken to a rogue manager and been given false info. All of you who bought it online won't get a price match.

Placed an order yesterday to collect, called this morning to price check and when i went at lunchtime to collect they said they could not price match at it was out of stock in hmv leeds . left without collecting and wasted 30 minutes....

Great news I've only come across one person who has not been able to claim back, I'm sure if they complain they will get the price match as well

Initially refused to price match (long email blah blah) I complained, and shared the pic above from the edinburgh price match and just asked them to explain how it was fair for them NOT to price matach me. They choose instead to price match and refund to my credit card. Result. So a tortuous way around it, but yes, Titanfall for 19.99 and I didn't even leave the house

Sent a price match request at 20 minutes after midnight on black friday.
So if they had contacted HMV first thing, then stock would have been available.

Call them up or email back saying it was in stock at that time, I would like to speak to your manager. But I would advise calling !!

It was in stock in the morning at HMV, but since it was a black Friday deal, it had probably sold out by mid afternoon when you rang to check.

It was widely advertised and was on their twitter.

John Lewis: We do advise that our price match claims have a response time and that is due to the volume and the fact that we have to investigate each claim, unfortunately the item was out of stock at HMV at the time of investigation for the price match which was still within the 24 hour period so we would not be able to match that price.

A discount can only be offered if the competitor has it in stock and is still offering the promotion at the time of investigation. The customer you referred to on comment #150 had one of our partners investigate this immediately in-store, however when submitting a price match form over the internet, there is an inevitable delay.

It would be fair if there was a uniform company policy for price matching this item, but I am very concerned that in this case the decision to approve price match is at the discretion of the individual JohnLewis employee reviewing the case.
It also seems to depend upon the time that the application was processed, not when it was submitted.

I realise that the HMV deal was an exceptionally good price. JohnLewis usually have a very good reputation for price matching items.

So I didn't pick up my reserved copies of PS4 & Xbox One due to so many have difficulties getting the price match.
Got an email in November saying last chance to pick up or returned for a refund within 14 days, so I just left it waiting for the refund.

Low and behold, no refund has been issued when I've been checking over my bank statements. They are trying to track the parcel down at the moment.
