Great cat flap although make sure you follow their guidelines on batteries by the letter. If you do, they will last a year, if not, max 30 days

What's the guideline? Mine don't last long!

Great price, normally about £70. Stops unwanted moggies getting in. It works a treat as we have 2 cats and also a regular visiting cat from down the road who wants to move in but this stops him in his tracks,

Keep the flap clean. The sensor works harder when dirt

Indeed. What happens is that the infra-red sensor can't see the reflected beam from the infra-red LED (which flashes very briefly at regular intervals), and therefore assumes that a cat is there. This switches on the rest of the circuitry which scans for the cat's chip, and this circuitry takes a lot of power.

Great price. Have one of these myself - with 2 cats, we find that a set of good rechargeable batteries lasts about 3-4 months - so not bad really
EDIT - we have the DualScan version of this which scans out as well as in, and is slightly more pricey. This is still a good deal

use these Duracell Ultra LF1500 Lithium AA Batteries. I have no idea why, im guessing its the way the catflap requires its power but anything less than this, even in Duracell range, fade after a month. Cost about £10 for 4

I have one and I turn the guidelines on their head: I use (precharged) low self-discharge rechargeables and they last well over six months, the only problem being that the LED flashes for most of that time. No need to spend a fortune on disposables.

I use Amazon basics and it's been fine for months

Just paid like £80 for one of these. Good cat flap though, I like the light sensor as it keeps her out of trouble but she can use up all her energy during the day.

That sounds like the upmarket model - this one knows nothing about time of day or light level.

The after care from the company is very good. We had one that lasted about 2 yrs and replaced it when it broke. Next one lasted about 16 months, when that stopped working we contacted the manufacture, they sent nearly a whole new cat flap out free of charge.

Amazingly good aftercare. Just received a new PCB for a well used and abused flap - for FREE!! How often does a company help you mend a product yourself?

I use kodak alkaline batteries from poundland and they last a year or so. Been fitted a few years now, i clean it when i think about it, which is every couple of months. Great price, but not for fat cats.

Looks like Amazon are price matching Fetch (pet side of Ocado) but they also do 15% off for first order so brings it down to £33.99
Thank you for this OP and others - just got the dual scan version on Fetch for £40 after the welcome discount - and it even included free next day Sunday delivery with a time slot! Happy Days - just got to hope the cat comes back in now....!!

Gutted I missed this (an in turn the Ocado deal!) :disappointed: Anywhere else selling this at a good price?
