A good bit cheaper than the UK Argos release. Cool little release and gotta love that retro artwork cover!
Games:
- Power Drift
- Puyo Puyo 2
- Maze Walker
- Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa
- Fantazy Zone II W
- Sonic The Hedgehog
- Thunder Blade
- Galaxy Force II
- Altered Beast
If you're a collector I've read that this is an English yellow triangle box (UXP) and not what would likely be green triangle (UKV) from Argos (unconfirmed).

Was looking at this the other day in Argos and nearly picked it up but remembered the Sega Classic collection on the PS2. That was a load of classic titles reimagined on a 3D plane and was very ordinary. Is this emulated 2d originals given a depth of field or are they reimagined?

By the looks of youtube videos, it's the original 2D with added depth.

These games and all the Sega 3D Classics on the 3DS are incredibly well done imo. All the ports were handled by M2 and they've added tons of features and options. The 3D has been brilliant on the ones I've played.
The reason it's not in this collection is that this is actually the second in a series of three collections. The predecessor doesn't have a western release (SoR is on that one!) and the third one is out in Japan next month. I'm not sure if there are plans to release the other collections in the west.

This is a far cry of difference between the PS2 release. That was shoddy and underworked in comparison. These updates are fantastic and are based on the Sega Ages collections which were only released in Japan for the PS2.
So they are the normal 2D games with additional affects such as parallax scrolling and extra 3D elements. They are pretty much the best way to play these games currently.

Only thing that puts me off this is that I've bought a load of these individually on the eshop, but I gather there are some that aren't available over here etc. £20 though is close enough that it could be worth it for the ones I don't have...
I really like them, they have really cool 3D options and if it is based on the arcade machine there are fun little options where it makes it like you're sat in the Afterburner moving arcade machine (complete with noises if you want them) or on a Hang On bike etc (yeah you switch those off pretty quick but they're nice little options to play with).
There's also little novelty optional changes you can do once you unlock them, like having Sonic have the spin dash from Sonic 2, in Sonic 1, and having Altered Beast transformations being random etc.
Just noticed it's not the whole series, just certain chosen ones. Still seems a fair price but some of the bigger names from the download series aren't there...

Completely agree. I bought SOR but I can't believe that wasn't considered for this collection. Madness!

I meant SOR 2 (oops) but that's interesting to know
I still think Sega massively undersell their back catalogue. They could do so much more. The goodwill towards them from fans is massive, even after many mistakes over the years!

SoR2 is on the upcoming third collection I believe. I see where you're coming from but at least everything is available in individual form on the eShop. To be honest I was surprised this even got a physical release, I think it's a pretty cool item for collectors.
