My Sandisk Extreme card also failed. Locked into read only mode and not possible to write to it.

Damn these things went up in price, i got my last two for £9.99 each from Argos last year same speed, I wouldn't buy them again though. Always buy u3's..

Had one of these for my GoPro (foolishly) and it just didn't write fast enough. Ended up skipping 3 seconds of video every minute or so. No bueno.
Fine for a phone or something, I suppose.

I wouldn't say it's particularly appropriate for a phone either, particularly if you regularly transfer large files onto the card or record high bit rate video on it. I have the said 64gb Sandisk card and it takes forever to transfer 1gb+ video files onto the card compared to the phone's internal memory. Write speeds are just very slow.
