Firstly I'm not in the market for one of these, but it did seem a huge price reduction with deals people regarded as good here at three times this price! It's currently for sale on Amazon for £55.00 and there are some outlets asking as much as £145 !
"There aren’t many dedicated music streamers for £150 – the cheapest of last year’s award-winners was £400 – so we’re chuffed that QED has pitched the uPlay Stream at such an aggressive price."
£150 was an aggressive price?? What kind of deal does less than £20 make then ?
"So if you’re after a cheap and straightforward way to stream a range of files through your home cinema or audio system without sacrificing a decent sound and good features, the uPlay Stream is a real steal and could be one of your most useful purchases this year."
If you are after one, or you want a cheap Chrissie pressie then snap them up because I can't see them hanging round for long at this price!

So, how does one of these work? Plugs into your amp and then all your phones, laptops, tablets etc connect to it?

Fantastic alternative to a Chromecast multiroom set up. Unfortunately, I bought 6 chromecast audios a while back otherwise I would have definitely gone for some of these. Heat added.

Great spot! Not after one of these but looks as though this is a massive price drop!

I can't work out from the description or What Hifi review whether it can sync music when doing multiroom playback. Heat Added, but airplay receivers may be a good alternative for some

thanks, i wasnt in the market for one either but looks like a good deal to me
Great find op. Possibly a good alternative to Chromecast audio.
No digital output though. I guess that's what drives the price down.

why is the retail price on this so much more than a chromecast? doesn't it do essentially the same thing?

Actually it does less - the QED does not have a digital output so you are restricted to whatever DAC is on it. Plus it's doubtful that the phone app will be kept up to date.

Cheap because literally nobody knows what it's for compared to existing wildly cheaper tech! So probably don't buy this. Chromecast has masses of support and is a great range. Stay sane, dealhunter.
