It was £14.99 in Smyths yesterday (black friday) but unsure if it will still be that price today.

It was 15 in Smyths on Saturday, but after opening it and trying the Alan Wake code inside, it said it had already been redeemed. I specifically asked before I bought them whether they were new or not and I was told that they were new. I asked because they were giving me the slightly worn looking boxes off the shelves that I took to the till and getting the discs out of plastic wallets. I tried the Alan Wake code to see if it had been used, as an indication of whether it really was new, and of course it had already been redeemed. I will now have to take it back.
I also got Gears Ultimate Edition (the Gears 1 Xbox One 'remake') for £10, which also looks worn, but the code inside for a 'skin' DLC worked, and there are not many copies of Gears Ultimate for £10 around anyway, new or used (Tesco do not have it in for £10), so I will have to keep that and sell it for a tenner later if I find a sealed one for £10.
Smyths do not seem to make much distinction between their new and used games. They use stickers that leave marks on the front of the box, as well.

So all the positive reviews on Metacritic and IGN giving it an 8 out of 10 are wrong?!

This same thing happened to me when I was trying to purchase Dark Souls III for new in Smyths. They told me they had the discs at the counter but none with the box and asked me did I see a display case on the shelf when I was looking at the games. There was only one display case and it was badly damaged almost as if someone had stood on it. As it was the only box they they could put the disc in I decided against purchasing it. The certificate of authenticity that seals the box should not be opened by the retailer in my opinion and your experience is a good example of why.
