I bought mine last week, IMO it's fantastic fun. I'd previously used the Vive quite a lot and this is very close to that. What it lacks in room scale it makes up with better games (well nearly)
As others have said it is one of those things you have to try. Watching youtube clips of it doesn't give you the presence you get from playing a game in VR. We've had loads of people round from 18 to 82 and they've all been amazed by it.
The best games so far IMO have been Rush of Blood (very scary), Batman (short but amazing), Rigs (frantic action) and Waywood Sky (nice adventure), but a number of the demos you get with it are extremely good as well.
It's not for everyone, it makes some people feel sick (no one we've tried it on has complained), but it's worth trying out. It's daft for anyone to dismiss it if they've not had a proper go on it - it's like trying to criticise a film you've not seen. Have a go and make your own mind up. I think it's pretty amazing.

Credit isn't really the answer if you can't afford something!
But if you are going to use it, I can't think of a much better use. Put me in the very positive camp on this, almost worth it just for the incredible sense of wonder I saw in my kids faces as they tried it (at least the bit of the face you can see!). Worth every penny for that and to be honest the price of taking kids anywhere these days, it's only really a few days trips in cost.
The big danger is that you do find you want to try a lot of the other content and so I've bought a fair amount off the Sony store since having it. There are plenty of demos and free bits (download the demo disk, don't use the supplied one) but they do tend to be very short and you want more...

not sure why so many haters here, I wasn't someone who was looking at getting into VR but my wife ordered me one the last time this deal was on, and I've got to say it's a pretty cool experience. Graphics aren't that great but you soon forget once you're immersed. first time I played, felt really sick after a few demos, mainly after RIGS but since then I've played all kinds of games and I've been fine so think just needs warming into. People spend a lot more on stuff that they don't need, I think for the price it at least delivers something bit different in gaming and there's a wide variety of styles that can be explored im VR. not really bought any games yet apart from tumble VR and rush of blood. looking forward to robinson, farpoint and resident evil 7. for people on the fence, if you have the spare money it's worth giving it a go, can always sell on if not for you.

Delivery was due 12/12 I think.
I've had both my orders delivered from Amazon and GAME (both dispatched on the same day) - Amazon was ordered on 14th October and GAME was ordered on 19th November - both received last weekend, so retailers must have got a wave of stock, hopefully Tesco would have been the same. Looks like everything is out of stock now until the end of the year. Good luck!

Blur is very much in the hands of the developer and possible to avoid but it depends on how much of a sacrifice they have to make to get to the approved frame rates necessary for the game to 'work' in VR. Hence the games with the more stylised graphics tending to look better as they require less processing power.
Hopefully as dev gain experience and enhanced versions for the Pro will allow things to get more detailed without blur.

Totally agree - to take kids/family out for the day costs a bomb.
My kids too were totally amazed and in awe when they tried it out - so agree almost worth the cost alone!!
In that respect VR is worth the cost plus you have it forever.
A fad? To be fair it's a case of each to their own.
I've said it's too expensive for me given low graphics....... yet I'm still in awe from when I tried it for an hour....

It is a big outlay but still an incomparable cost to say a Rift & PC setup. The cost of the two is not a million miles away from the Rift headset alone! I guess we'll all find out soon enough just how much the new console will improve things.

Personally I think it's better at racing games than I thought it would be, as I mentioned before the immersion so that strong that I tense up and cringe whenever I lose control of the car. You can also place the car on apexes way way better than you can on a single monitor game and it feels a lot more realistic than a multi screen set up.

If £300 is an any way a large seeming sum of money for you DO NO BUY THIS. Leave it to those with a lot of disposable income.
This is a beta test, its not great and very limited to the other headsets. Its glitchy and nowhere near as accurate as the other headsets and even they are still beta tech. Its not roomscale and VR without roomscale is kind of rubbish after the initial "wow" moment (its not as good at things like racing games as you would think). PS4 also isnt good enough to push VR forward. The immersion is there, the future of the tech will be awesome but wait for the PS5 version.

It won't be heavy forever... Remember 30 years ago the size and weight of an atari and what it could do, vs the graphical ability of the latest ultra-thin smartphone. I imagine VR will be lightweight and powered by our phones or phone-sized devices soon, and eventually built into something as big as sunglasses.

It's hard to say. Everyone is different.
For me, I played for an hour - never had any sickness at all.
A few times I felt I'd fall over (Batman - decending down to the caves on an open elevator and Farpoint whilst on a cliff ledge) but both times I was standing. ... and simply repositioning my standing position resolved it.
No sickness whilst playing Driveclub - that was an amazing experience and I really felt like I was in the car with seemless all round view wherever I turned my head.... was seated with a wheel whilst playing.
Only issue was poor graphics but you do soon forget that as you're so immersed in the game /experience.
Now.
Others have complained of sickness. some have said they tried little goes at a time and built up and soon overcame the motion sickness - so maybe that's the way forward.
So in terms of yourself. .... I guess you can only but try it yourself. Little goes at a time.
Maybe buy from John Lewis who will give you a full refund if you're not happy with it. (ALL retailers should give you a full refund within 30 days if you're not happy but I've read some (GAME) have tried to refuse a refund.
Take the plunge abd try it out. Just don't expect brilliant graphics - and you'll be fine.....
Good luck :-)

this thing is so over priced given how bad the tracking is, headset should be £200 max or £250 with the camera and two moves.
plus you need the ps4 pro to make the games remotely visually acceptable not to mention how limited the scope is for gaming, basically anything with fixed position/cockpit is great, everything else is useless to the movement issue (teleporting is ****, moving with stick makes people upchuck)

Hi,
I didn't mean to put a downer on things.
PS VR is a great thing at a great price. It's expensive yes but much, much cheaper than competitors.
My gripe is what could be construed as false advertising; what you actually see is nowhere near as good as promotional clips.
But that said, the VR experience is amazing!!
The VR unit is very comfortable and whilst Driveclub was blurry, it was an amazing, thrilling experience that I totally loved.
Farpoint too was amazing. BUT that's not out till next year.
I'm personally disappointed with the poor graphics hence why I'm not willing to spend so much. .... but I'm still very tempted.
Without doubt, once you're playing and immersed you won't notice the graphics.
As some have mentioned. ... make sure you adjust it correctly for you eye measurements before you play.
Have fun this Christmas - your son will love it :-) :-)

Yes, definately agree any screen up close looks pixely and grainy, but what I was trying to say is that there's a noticeable difference between the darker and lighter images. Certainly with darker backgrounds, the images looked like they were projected through a mesh rather than on a screen. The coloured stuff faired much better. Every single comparison review I've read or watched rates PSVR way above Rift and Vive for comfort and length of usablilly and have used many different Google Cardboard set ups and Samsung VR I know having something at on your head is way more comfortable than it being strapped to your face. I can do 5-6 hours on PSVR without issue compared to an hour max with Samsung VR!

so you're saying something that costs over £2000 total investment (vive) is better than a system that can be had for under £600 (PSVR)
i should hope the VIVE is better given the price difference , however most reviewers say the difference isn't as pronounced as the price difference suggests. In other words for the money right now , PSVR is the best and most affordable VR option for the average consumer.

to you and anyone else looking into vr, there are currenty 3 major vr headsets(psvr, oculus rift, htc vive), the psvr is by far the cheapest and weakest of the 3, i tried all of them before buying my rift, the psvr physically feels alot cheaper(my impression was that with alot of use it might break), has the worst graphics(possibly limited by the ps4), has the least compatibility(again due to the ps4) and is aso the most uncomfortable to wear(it feels like wearing a lump of plastic attached to a rubber bag)
now i know that the price is extremely high(£1000ish for a pc, £760 for a vive, £700 for a rift=£1700ish vs £700ish for psvr+ps4) but trust me, its definitely worth it, you have access to a lot more games, it graphically looks and physically feels much much better(you get a nice foam facepate which sits comfortaby on your face), the tracking onpsvr is good, but much better with the vive/ rift, it wont break easily, you can pay old games in vr with third party software like vorpx(ify might make you sick) and you wil be able to use other accessories like the omni treadmil from virtuix + more.
I recently bought a gaming sound chair and a wheel, combining these with the rift and project cars it really feels like im driving a supercar, its amazing
p.s. the blackbars you see in vr isnt the lack of resolution(although higher res would help increase text readability and the overall look of the games), its the screen door effect, this was hugely improved on during the development stage of vr and is now at a point where its usable and enjoyable but still noticeable (i could not use the prototypes of the rift due to the SDE being very obvious - a thick bold black gird compared to the now thin grey hexagonal shape), fixing this completely is a long way off though so dont expect it anytime soon.
The thing sucks, the tracking is bad, Vive is so much better.

All VR headsets are 'grainy', any display screen if you magnify it and look up close, laser displays could be a solution but that technology is VERY expensive and still in its early days, PSVR deals with it better than Samsung VR, Rift and Vive do by the way the screen is made, the others have a clear screen door effect that any LCD or DLP projector owner will only be fully aware of.
That said it's only noticeable when your brain isn't occupied, once the action kicks in you don't even notice it.

Me and my other half went to one of the proper Sony organised events last weekend and have to say we were both impressed.
The graphics are not as clear as I had hoped, I found it difficult to get them to focus clearly but even then, the detail is sadly lacking. Anything on a black / dark background looks very grainy - Rush of Blood and Resident Evil are both examples. I also tried Ocean Decent from the VR Worlds disc and it was probably the best thing I did, the more colourful graphics seemed to work much better. Rush of Blood is a good game and feels very like being on a roller coaster / ghost train at a theme park, the Move controllers work well as the guns. Resident Evil was fun but probably not a purchase for me, my girlfriend on the other hand loved it and made it her fave of the day. She also tried Driveclub (too fast for her apparently) and London Heist which she thought was decent.
On the whole, it's very immersive and I really enjoyed playing it but not sure if I'd spend a long time on it, partly because of the lack of a killer game that I really want to play, but also partly because strangely it feels like more of a social thing that you would try with other people. I can see it as a great thing to have at a party or family gathering.
I am pretty certain I'll get one, but I think I'll wait until they start to bundle it with some games and there are more offers around. I'll be honest though, I am tempted to treat myself to one for Christmas....

Had it since day 1, absolutely brilliant as far as I'm concerned. I wasn't expecting lifelike visuals where I couldn't tell make believe from the real world, I wanted something to enjoy and PSVR delivers it by the shovel load!
I couldn't give a monkeys at what technical processes folk moan about, yes the visuals in Drive Club VR don't match normal Drive Club but the experience is way more better - I've never braced and cringed when about to crash in normal Drive Club....
Folk who moan and say I'll wait for PSVR 2, bet you sat and waited for HD when forward thinkers were already enjoying new experiences, were still watching VHS in a DVD era....
And those who claim it's a novelty like Kinect and 3D, try it properly and you'll know you're talking nonsense! VR has been touted for decades, it's only now it's really in the grasp of consumers, yes it isn't 'cheap' but nether is a high end smartphone in your pocket.
Oh and anyone who has ever loved Rez since the day it came out on Dreamcast simply have to try it on PSVR, it's all you ever wanted to play it with!

The graphics are quite poor (ps3 level), but once you're in a game you really don't care. With the exception of Driveclub, which was terrible looking far into the distance on the demo version.
It really is the best immersion you can get for a game. However, I sold mine to get my money back whilst I can as there are limited decent games with replay-ability. With not too many in the pipeline for the coming months. With that in mind I would advise anyone to wait for either; a larger set of high-quality games, or an improved version with better resolution. Which will likely take a while!
That's my opinion anyway...

He's being (jokingly) pedantic - Strictly, if you "demoed it", that means you're the one giving the demo, in which case you'd be expected to know about it - if you "received a demo/had a demo/had it demoed" then you were shown it, which is probably what you meant.

That's because when you put the headset on it immediately brainwashes you into thinking it is brilliant and then ordering one.

I have Driveclub VR and there is no blur. Once you have calibrated the display and fitted it on your face correctly it is absolutely fine. This is a thread about buying PSVR not saying why you don't like it. Makes me laugh when people say its poor quality when they clearly either haven't had a proper session on it or it makes their poor tummies feel bad. No problems here - man up FFS.

I bought one for launch date but traded it in within a few days. It really is an amazing bit of kit but I found I suffered from severe motion sickness when playing games like Eve (10 minutes was the most I could manage). Also be warned there are lots and lots of wires.

2 Nov 16#59
This first generation of headsets is little more than an initial foray into VR, establishing a baseline. Considering the lack of consumer VR up to this point, I'd say they're doing pretty well. Higher res screens will continue to drop in price, and once we get foveated rendering and maybe Samsung's earphones to solve the problem with locomotion then VR will really be aimed at the mass market. Right now, I think they're smart to cater to early adopters and do so with caution.

VR has been around 25+ years but even in 2016 the resolution is nowhere near good enough. The resolution needs to be at least 8K due to visual proximity of the image, 16K will fully realise VR but that's a long way off and VR may or may die off again as a fad before those resolutions are common place.
The resolution is terrible especially considering the PS4 is moving to 4K, then not to mention the motion sickness. I hate to say it but feel in a years time this will end up like the Kinect.

I wouldn't count on it improving it, I've not tried the PSVR yet but I have a Vive with a 1060 (more powerful than PS Pro) and it suffers from something similar to what you guys describe. In that case I suspect it's mainly down to resolution. Stuff in the distance has gotta be only a few pixels wide right?
Kenp8257
2 Nov 16#35
I hope the Pro does improves things but I'm not convinced; with current games for PS4, the Pro will only improve things if the game developers code in a specific Pro patch etc.

Word of warning - what you see in VR will be NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD as youtube clips etc.
Don't get me wrong - it's a fantastic experience and immersion is amazing, but graphics are very poor compared to all the advertising clips.
Many talk of blur etc. There's a lot of blur and Driveclub is the worst for this.
It is bad.
But as I said, immersion abd VR experience is amazing.
Best price at the moment so heat for that.
I tried it out and ws amazed. Played for about an hour. no issues with wires or headset. It was really light and comfortable.
I loved it but unwilling to fork out such a large amount because of blurring.
It would seem from various forums some do not see/aren't bothered by blur.

Yeah the Wii U model is the way to do it, but it seems to transfer at 50 Mbps or so while if Sony are using HDMI to its full potential they are transferring up to 10 Gbps/18 Gbps (HDMI 2.0) to the PSVR, so it will be a while until we have wireless that can support that. I hope we do get there though.

Good luck!
Hopefully as dev gain experience and enhanced versions for the Pro will allow things to get more detailed without blur.
Feedback is it's good with no blur..... promising for future games :-)
Kids loved it and want it for Christmas. ..... I'm still very tempted. ....... the immersion is truly amazing. ...

but the price point is too high at the moment for it to become mainstream. I do wonder how close these cheaper versions are to the experience I had.
Might buy one of these at some point, sounds cool and I've heard good impressions.
Yeah, has fad written all over it....
Poorly executed fad
This is a beta test, its not great and very limited to the other headsets. Its glitchy and nowhere near as accurate as the other headsets and even they are still beta tech. Its not roomscale and VR without roomscale is kind of rubbish after the initial "wow" moment (its not as good at things like racing games as you would think). PS4 also isnt good enough to push VR forward. The immersion is there, the future of the tech will be awesome but wait for the PS5 version.
That company knows less about innovation than your average Big Brother contestant knows about ancient architecture and Renaissance art.
It is brilliant.
Just want people to be aware graphics are NOT as good as youtube clips and promotional videos etc.
That said - it still is brilliant. Just expensive but not in comParis on to the competition.
Really debating getting VR as a Xmas present to myself, but can't afford it right now :-(
For me, I played for an hour - never had any sickness at all.
Good luck :-)
plus you need the ps4 pro to make the games remotely visually acceptable not to mention how limited the scope is for gaming, basically anything with fixed position/cockpit is great, everything else is useless to the movement issue (teleporting is ****, moving with stick makes people upchuck)
I rest my case...
Look at Driveclub VR, its an eye sore compared to the non vr version
VR is NOTHING like 3D and until you've experienced it you haven't a clue, it won't be a fad simply because it isn't a gimmick - it completely changes how games can be played!
Pity they didn't make them useful for FPV flying. The new DJI 1080 headset looks worth purchasing.
Have fun this Christmas - your son will love it :-) :-)
wish the bundle was in more availability as its obviously cheaper but typical sony only making a few and then re sellers selling them for stupid money
Look at history
iPod -first proper MP3 player that could hold 100's of songs (remember having one that held around 4 lol)
Touchscreen phones before Apple-naff
iPad -THE tablet to use that everyone else followed.
If they jump into VR them it will be a decent experience from the off, guaranteed.
C'mon now, get real!
Creeps the hell out of you....
i should hope the VIVE is better given the price difference , however most reviewers say the difference isn't as pronounced as the price difference suggests. In other words for the money right now , PSVR is the best and most affordable VR option for the average consumer.
now i know that the price is extremely high(£1000ish for a pc, £760 for a vive, £700 for a rift=£1700ish vs £700ish for psvr+ps4) but trust me, its definitely worth it, you have access to a lot more games, it graphically looks and physically feels much much better(you get a nice foam facepate which sits comfortaby on your face), the tracking onpsvr is good, but much better with the vive/ rift, it wont break easily, you can pay old games in vr with third party software like vorpx(ify might make you sick) and you wil be able to use other accessories like the omni treadmil from virtuix + more.
I recently bought a gaming sound chair and a wheel, combining these with the rift and project cars it really feels like im driving a supercar, its amazing
p.s. the blackbars you see in vr isnt the lack of resolution(although higher res would help increase text readability and the overall look of the games), its the screen door effect, this was hugely improved on during the development stage of vr and is now at a point where its usable and enjoyable but still noticeable (i could not use the prototypes of the rift due to the SDE being very obvious - a thick bold black gird compared to the now thin grey hexagonal shape), fixing this completely is a long way off though so dont expect it anytime soon.
look closely at this video for an example of the sde; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS-Ii-4NHEk
That said it's only noticeable when your brain isn't occupied, once the action kicks in you don't even notice it.
I want to get it but I'm going to wait until it has a good collection of games. Horror games is what I really want it for
I couldn't give a monkeys at what technical processes folk moan about, yes the visuals in Drive Club VR don't match normal Drive Club but the experience is way more better - I've never braced and cringed when about to crash in normal Drive Club....

A wireless VR headset would be more akin to a Wii U controller or Vita using remote play.
Happy to help you understand.
- I had all the move setup and sharpshooter on the PS3, but never used it... will this be the same?

Just wanted to give a heads up.
Good luck
